Today the chair was turned around… because even the HQ team deserve a little chair time! 🖤
Our very own Bobbi swapped her usual spot behind the chair for a little time sat in it, trusting our HQ signature stylist Edwin to create something seriously fun!
The brief was a blonde refresh with impact, so Edwin created a full head of strategically placed foils, using lightness to brighten and lift through the regrowth, then weaved in some deep vibrancy with copper red ribbons to create contrast, movement and a little nostalgic 90s energy, with a completely modern HQ twist.
The results leave a bold blonde with dimension, where the copper red isn’t just a colour… it’s a feature!
A carefully balanced blend of brightness, depth and placement designed to catch the eye from every angle 🔥
Created entirely using Davines for conditioning support and colour longevity, following with a Davines toner service to refine the blonde, soften the natural warmth that we didnt want to keep this time, and bring everything into perfect harmony!
We love seeing our team trust each other creatively!

Some great choices this week, let's have a look!
REM - The One I Love
These guys are an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia in 1980, they released 15 albums starting with 1983's 'Murmur' and ending with 2011's 'Collapse into Now'. It was the albums 'Out of Time' and 'Automatic for the People' that propelled the band to superstardom, songs like 'Shiny Happy People', 'Losing My Religion' and 'Everybody Hurts' that entered the public conscious and are still huge songs to this day. REM called it a day after the released their final album, they released a really nice statement, that there had been no fall outs, no lawyers, they just wanted to end, 'their way'.
Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity
English acid jazz funk rockers, Jamiroquaui formed in London in 1992. The band have released 8 albums to date and have sold over 26 million albums world wide. The chosen song won them a Grammy and the same year they were also nominated for Best Pop Album. Originally signing a record deal for 8 albums back in the 90's they are actually about to release their 9th album after 9 years with a new label, lead singer Jason Kay announced in June that the album was finished and had entered the mastering stage. Known for big singles like 'Cosmic Girl', 'Deeper Underground', 'Little L' and 'Feels Just Like It Should' all remain as relevant as ever!
Lorde - Royals
Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor is a New Zealander singer songwriter who has released 4 albums to date, beginning with 2013's 'Pure He**in', which launched her to stardom with the huge 'Royals'. She had been working with and was signed by Universal since the age of 13 to develop her sound and artistic image, they unsuccessfully attempted to pair her with songwriters but ultimately she wanted to write her own songs, she just needed help on the production side of things. Her debut was compared to those like Florence Welch and Lana Del Ray.
Hozier - Too Sweet
His debut single 'Take Me to Church' was a massive hit for him back in 2013, the song itself became multi-platinum in several countries, it made it to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, but... he isn't still dining out on the success of one song, he had another number one single called 'Too Sweet' which was massive back in 2024. He has released 3 albums to date, he released his self titled debut in 2019, he last album entitled 'Unreal Unearth' was released in 2023. It was his demo of 'Take Me to Church' that got him noticed, he was playing various mic nights across Dublin, wrote and demoed the song, and it caught the attention of a record label which released his debut EP!
Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks
These guys are Icelandic folk rockers that formed in 2010. The band have released four albums to date, their first was 2011's 'My Head Is an Animal' and their last released album was 2025's 'All Is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade'. The chosen song is taken off their debut record and was the lead single. According to the bands lead singer, the song is about two loving people who are talking past each other, perhaps one is deceased, one person isn't really hearing the other. It was inspired by an old house she had moved into. The song entered number 12 in the UK charts.
Spin Doctors - Two Princes
This band formed in the late 80's in New York and were originally called Trucking Company which was during John Poppers tenure in the band and he left to form Blues Traveler. After his departure they became Spin Doctors. They signed a deal in 1990 and have released seven albums to date. Their debut was 1991's 'Pocket Full of Kryptonite' and their latest album was 2025's 'Face Full of Cake'. The chosen song is off the bands debut album and was a top 3 hit in the UK. Their other big hit was 'Little Miss Can't Be Wrong' which was a top 20 billboard hot 100 hit in the US.
Thank you as always for those who chose!

Some appointments take an unexpected turn... this one took a very pink one!
Our long standing Stalker here has been trusting Rae with her hair since long before HQ even opened its doors!
She popped by for her regular root maintenance......and left with unicorn-ready hair!
The reason was VERY valid!! She was throwing a real life unicorn party for her little girl's birthday!
(Stick around until the end of the reel to meet Frank the Unicorn... trust us, he's worth the wait. 🦄)
After refreshing the brunette roots with Davines colour, Rae glazed the blonde balayage (from previous appointments) by adding a temporary splash of fun using Davines Alchemic Creative Conditioner in Pink!
This created a soft, dimensional pink glaze throughout the curls that catches every twist and turn of the hair.
Because this is a colour depositing conditioner rather than a permanent colour, it'll gradually wash back towards blonde over the next shampoo or two.
It's the perfect way to dip your toes into a fantasy shade without having to making any long-term commitment.
At HQ we call this little bit of magic 'The Hue'.
✨ £13 or 480 Treat Card Points ✨ + adds just 10–15 minutes to your appointment.
Current shades available:
💗Pink 🧡Coral 💛Golden Blonde 🤎Chocolate Brown
*Suitable for naturally light hair, or hair that has previously been pre-lightened.
To finish, Rae gave our Stalker's curls a maintenance trim to keep the shape looking fresh, then twist + diffuse dried using the Davines Curl Building Serum, finishing off with the Davines Shimmer Spray to boost definition, add shine and help protect those curls from the summer humidity.
Because if you're going to a unicorn party, your hair deserves an invitation too!
Have you ever fancied trying a temporary pop of colour, or are you a lifelong vivid lover? We'd love to know! 👀

B A T H R O O M 🚨 U P D A T E
A little heads up for anyone visiting us over the next few days...
Our HQ bathroom has decided to go on strike.
Unfortunately, we're currently dealing with what looks to be an external pipe issue, so whilst we wait for it to be sorted, our loo is temporarily out of action 🚧
If you find yourself caught short during your appointment, the nearest public toilets are just a few doors down at McDonald's 🍟
We're really sorry for the inconvenience!
We're keeping everything crossed that it'll be back up and running as soon as possible, but as it's looking like an external issue, it may take a little longer than we'd like. Thank you for bearing with us 🖤
We'll keep you updated as soon as we're back in business... the bathroom, that is!
The Fledgling files are back! 🐣
Today's training session saw Bobbi continuing her journey into the world of short foil work, developing a deeper understanding of foil placement and how different haircut shapes and hair textures influence where lightness should (and shouldn't!) live.
Our suoer chilled model gave Bobbi creative freedom, with just one brief... she'd love to feel lighter for Summer - Challenge accepted!
To keep maintenance low whilst still creating plenty of brightness, Bobbi chose a multi-textured foil placement, working with finer weaves around the perimeter to create a softer grow-out, while introducing medium chunkier weaves internally to build movement, dimension and those beautiful little flashes of blonde.
The goal was a soft pearlescent blonde that complemented our model's natural base colour and complexion, rather than competing with it.
But the learning didn't stop there...
Today was also Bobbi's very first play with our mini irons!
Using them, she created this soft, lived-in wave through naturally straight hair, adding movement that beautifully showcased all of her foil placement. Sometimes styling isn't just the finishing touch, it's what brings the colour story to life.
We're so proud of how far Bobbi has come. Every foil placed today, every section taken, and every wave created is another step towards becoming the colourist she's working so hard to be 🖤
A huge thank you to our wonderful training models too. By trusting our Fledglings, you're helping shape the next generation of Quirkers, and we honestly couldn't do it without you!
We think she absolutely smashed it... and for a first go with the mini irons too!
What do you think of Bobbi's work? Let her know below! 👀

A diverse set of songs here, let's take a look!
Fatboy Slim - Sunset (Bird of Prey)
Now this guys name is a strange one, he was born Quentin Leo Cook but when he joined the Housemartins with future Beautiful South singer Paul Heaton, he changed it to Norman Cook. He joined that band when their bass player left so quickly moved to Hull and joined them, he had never played the bass before and said he 'learned how to play bass guitar in about a week' - hmmm. The band released 2 albums and Cook started ot become bored playing the music. The band called it a day in 1988. After a few other projects, he became Fatboy Slim in 1995 and has released four albums under that name. The chosen song comes off his third record, 'Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars' and was the lead single.
Kenny Chesney - She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
This lad is an American country singer and has sold around 30 million albums world wide. He has released 21 albums to date, his debut, 'In My Wildest Dreams' was released back in 1994 and his latest record, 'Silver Sands Marina' is set for release in September. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee and after graduating college he started to perform locally in bars and clubs, he became the resident performer at The Turf. He later got a songwriting contract at Capricorn Records which had started a country music division, it wasn't long before his debut album released which sold 10 thousand copies, it was a slow start for Kenny, but he kept writing and releasing albums and by album four, he had achieved two consecutive number one hits.
Abba - Dancing Queen
Abba... we all know who they are. One of the biggest groups in the world, their popularity continues to soar, they still sell albums, they have an avatar show in London, back in 2021 they released a new album 40 years after their last album, 1981's 'The Visitors'. The band remain one of the best selling artists of all time, selling over 150 million albums world wide. Their compilation album, 'ABBA Gold' has been in the UK album charts for a record of 1,248 weeks. They have had 8 consecutive number one albums in the UK. Their virtual avatar show in London has been a massive success, and passed the 4 million in attendance marker in April of this year and has contributed over £2 billion to the UK economy! Amazing. They have a musical based on their songs, 2 films have been made from that musical, they have written for other artists, they have won many awards. Their popularity is unlikely to wane any time soon!
Dexys Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen
These Brummies formed the band in 1978 and released 3 albums between 1980 and 1985. It was their second record, 1982's 'Too-Rye-Ay' that propelled them to stardom, the chosen track was the second single from the album and was a huge hit and continues to be played to this day. Leader Kevin Rowland added a violin section to the bands horn section, but the horn players decided to leave, Rowland convinced them to stay long enough to record the album, but it was the violin that became the prominant part of the song! The band eventually parted ways in 1986, but came back together in 2003 and have since released 3 albums and are about to release their 7th record 'Love' later this year.
INXS - Need You Tonight
This Australian band got together in 1977, originally called The Farriss Brothers, as 3 members of the band were brothers, they were eventually augmented by Garry Beers on bass and Michael Hutchence on vocals. The band had their first Australian number one hit called 'Original Sin' and achieved international success in the mid to late 1980's with albums like 'Kick' and 'X' and with singles like 'What You Need', 'Need You Tonight' and 'Never Tear Us Apart'. The band have released 12 albums to date, their first was 1980's self titled, and their last was almost like a tribute album to themselves and Michael Hutichence who died in 1997, the album features re-recordings of the bands biggest hits with guest vocalists.
Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
Chicgo alt rockers formed in 1988 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and bassist D'arcy Wretzky. They have changed their sound over the years and have continued to integrate other genres and elements into their music, heavy rock, grunge, psychedelia, shoegaze, prog rock and electronica! The band broke up in 2000 and the members went on to do other things, Billy formed another group calle Zwan but was short lived. The Pumpkins reformed in 2006 and have steadily released albums since then, in fact the band have released a total 13 albums, 6 during their first era, and 7 albums since their return, one of their albums was a triple album! Crazy!
Thank you again for the choosers and their choices!

T E X T U R E D // E L E G A N C E
One from prom season earlier last month, and Tash was in her happy place!
Her Stalker here was getting ready for one very special evening, and with naturally curly hair, there was never any question about trying to fight it.
Instead, Tasha embraced every curl. By creating an ultra-sleek foundation throughout the sides and nape, before allowing our Stalker's natural texture to bloom through the crown and textured bun, she created a look that was not only elegant, but engineered to last.
When you work with curly hair instead of against it, magic happens. Texture isn't something to tame, it's something to design around.
Not only does the finished style look softer and more authentic, it also means there's no worrying about those little curls deciding to rebel halfway through the evening!
The internal structure was designed to support this hairstyle, while the natural texture does exactly what it does best... adding movement, volume and beautiful detail.
Those little face-framing tendrils was the perfect finishing touch too!
One thing people are often surprised to hear is that there isn't really such a thing as just one upstyling appointment when booking in. Some styles take 30-45 minutes... whilst others can take well over an hour.
That's why here at HQ we offer three tiers of occasional hair appointments, making your booking bespoke to your hair length, texture, density and the intricacy of the style you're dreaming of.
Appointments range from £48–£70, because no two upstyles are ever quite the same, and your individual hair length + density needs to be factored in too.
If you've got a wedding, prom, races, party, a date with friends, or special occasion on the horizon, pop us a message with your inspiration pictures and we'll happily recommend the right appointment and provide you with a quotation.
And can we just add in, upstyling is making a proper comeback! Dare we say it's even starting to steal the spotlight from the classic weekend blow-dry and curls? 👀
So... we'd love to know...
