🌱 Healthy Children, Healthy Planet — Our Shared Commitment

A child’s healthy development depends not only on education and physical activity, but also on balanced nutrition, connection with nature, and a healthy lifestyle.

Let us work together—at home and at school—to encourage children to enjoy a nutritious vegetarian diet. Their meals can include lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans, peas, yoghurt, paneer, whole grains, green vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, providing valuable protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals.

At the same time, we can encourage children to reduce their intake of highly sugary foods, packaged snacks and heavily fried foods, choosing fresh, natural and minimally processed foods more often.

🌍 Helping Children Connect with the Earth

Spending time in nature can be a beautiful part of a child’s overall wellbeing.

* Encourage children to care for plants, grow vegetables and develop a love and respect for nature.
* Where it is safe and appropriate, allow children to spend time outdoors and experience earthing/grounding, such as walking barefoot on grass or natural ground.
* Use outdoor time as an opportunity to teach children about the importance of clean air, water, soil and protecting our planet.
* Encourage children to reduce food waste and appreciate fresh, seasonal and locally sourced foods.

🧘 Yoga and a Healthy Daily Routine

Making time for yoga, gentle stretching, breathing exercises and mindfulness can help children develop body awareness, balance and concentration. Activities should always be age-appropriate, enjoyable and free from pressure.

Our goal is not only to raise healthy children, but to nurture young people who are aware of and respectful towards their bodies, their food, nature and our planet.

🌿 Nutritious vegetarian food + yoga + connection with nature + responsible living = a healthier and more conscious generation.

Let us work together as parents and schools to create an environment where children can grow with good health, a love for nature and a sense of responsibility towards our Earth.OSHOParents

1. What does “Existence” mean for Osho?

In Osho’s understanding, Existence is not a person or a separate being sitting somewhere and controlling the universe.

Existence includes everything:

Trees, sky, earth, body, thoughts, emotions, birth, death, stars, silence, and consciousness.

In other words, we are not outside Existence.

You can understand it through the analogy of the ocean and the wave.

The wave is not something separate from the ocean. The wave is the ocean appearing in a particular form.

In the same way:

Existence → us

We are not merely separate beings living inside Existence. We are expressions of Existence itself.

⸻

2. How is this different from the traditional idea of God?

In many traditional religious understandings, God is seen something like this:

God → creates the universe → human beings are His creation.

There can therefore be a distance between God and His creation.

Osho’s approach is closer to an non-dual understanding:

Existence → expressing itself through countless forms.

Therefore, ultimately, there is no absolute separation between “me” and Existence.

Think of different objects made of gold—an earring, a necklace, a bracelet. Their forms are different, but their essential substance is the same.

⸻

3. Then where is God?

From this perspective, the question changes.

Normally, we ask:

“Where is God?”

But from the perspective of Existence, one might ask:

“Where is Existence not?”

If Existence is everywhere, then there is no particular place where you have to go to find it.

It is in the temple.
It is in the forest.
It is within you.
It is in the sky.
It is in silence.

Therefore, meditation is not necessarily about reaching some distant God.

It is about becoming aware of that which is already here.

⸻

4. What does “We are its extensions” really mean?

This is perhaps the most beautiful part of your original sentence:

“Existence is, and we are its extensions.”

At a deeper level, it could be understood as:

“Existence is experiencing itself through us.”

You are not merely looking at Existence.

In a sense, Existence is looking at itself through your eyes.

Through your eyes, Existence sees the sky.

Through your ears, Existence hears music.

Through your consciousness, Existence becomes aware of itself.

This understanding makes the ego—the feeling of “I am completely separate”—much lighter.

⸻

5. Why gratitude?

Now we can understand the final part of your original statement:

“We thank it for everything.”

If I believe that I am a completely separate individual, I may think:

“I have been given life.”

But if I begin to see that I am not separate from life, the feeling changes:

“I am life.”

Then gratitude is no longer a religious duty.

It arises naturally.

You breathe and suddenly realize:

“I did not create this breath.”

The heart is beating.

The earth is moving.

The sun is shining.

The body is alive.

Consciousness is experiencing.

And something inside you may simply say:

“Thank you.”

Not necessarily to a person or a deity—

but to Existence itself.

⸻

6. And what about death?

This is where the idea becomes even deeper.

If I believe that I am only the body, then death means:

“I will cease to exist.”

But if I understand myself as an expression of Existence, death can be understood as:

the ending of one form.

Think of a wave.

The wave rises, exists for a while, and then disappears back into the ocean.

The wave has disappeared—but the ocean has not disappeared.

From the perspective of Existence, birth and death can therefore be seen as movements within a much larger, continuous process.

⸻

7. What does this have to do with meditation?

This may be the most practical part.

When you sit in meditation, you don’t necessarily have to become something.

Simply observe:

The body is here.
Breathing is happening.
Thoughts are coming.
Emotions are arising.
And you are witnessing them.

Gradually, you may begin to notice that you are not simply your thoughts.

And then an even deeper understanding may arise:

“I am not against Existence. I am part of its movement.”

From there, inner conflict can gradually lessen, while acceptance, silence, and gratitude can grow.

⸻

The essence of the whole idea

If I had to express the deepest meaning of your original sentence in one line, I would put it this way:

“I am not merely living in Existence; Existence is happening through me. I am not living life—life is living itself through me.”

That, in my view, captures the deeper spiritual meaning behind:

“Existence is, and we are its extensions. We thank it for everything.”OSHO

If you’re asking what Osho meant by the idea:

“Existence is, and we are its extensions. We thank it for everything.”

the central idea is existential gratitude and interconnectedness.

For Osho, “existence” is not something separate from us—God as a distant creator, for example. Rather, we are expressions of existence itself. Just as a wave is not separate from the ocean, a human being is not separate from existence.

So the statement can be understood as:

* “Existence is” — existence simply is. It doesn’t need a reason or justification.
* “We are its extensions” — our bodies, minds, lives and consciousness arise from the same existence. We are not independent entities standing outside it.
* “We thank it for everything” — gratitude becomes natural when we recognize that life itself is a gift we didn’t create: breathing, consciousness, nature, relationships, and even the opportunity to experience life.

Osho often connected this with acceptance rather than complaint. Instead of asking, “Why did existence give me this?”, one moves toward “I am part of existence, and whatever is happening is part of this mysterious whole.”

There is also an important distinction: this doesn’t necessarily mean passively accepting everything that happens. It means dropping the psychological attitude that existence owes us something.

In a more poetic form, the idea is:

The wave doesn’t thank the ocean for giving it water—the wave itself is the ocean appearing in a particular form.

If you want, I can also explain Osho’s concept of “existence” in depth and how it differs from God in traditional religions.

Osho was sharply critical of Gandhi. He treated Gandhi’s poverty, goat’s milk, and third-class travel as political theatre: expensive simplicity that looked saintly to the poor. The remarks appear in several talks, including The Messiah, Vol. 2 and The Last Testament.
The goat
Osho said Gandhi drank goat’s milk because it was the cheapest and poorest milk, so people would praise him. Then he turned to the goat:
He claimed he “inquired everything about the goat” and found it was bathed every day with Lux toilet soap. Its food, he said, cost about ten rupees a day in those days — as much as a schoolteacher’s monthly salary — and included cashew nuts, grapes, oranges, apples, and even cow’s milk, not grass. In another version he said the goat was washed twice a day with Lux.
His line was: “I don’t care about Mahatma Gandhi much, but I care certainly about the goat.” He called the arrangement saintly only on the surface.
Third-class train travel
Osho said Gandhi’s third-class habit did not help the poor; it crowded them out. Because Gandhi was in third class, the whole compartment was reserved for him. In a carriage about sixty feet long, where eighty or ninety people would normally travel, he said Gandhi rode alone (or, in the childhood-meeting story, with his wife and secretary). Biographers then wrote that he was kind to the poor.
Osho’s arithmetic: a reserved third-class coach cost far more than an air-conditioned ticket. He said an AC fare was only about four times a third-class fare, while booking a whole third-class compartment was something like sixty times. “His ‘third class’ was far better than any first class possible… Just the name plate had been changed.”
“His poverty is very costly”
He quoted Sarojini Naidu (he spells her name variously), later a governor, joking that to keep Gandhi poor they had to destroy treasures, or waste fortunes. Osho’s summary: “His poverty is very costly. But it worked.” Poor people, he said, took the cottage, the goat’s milk, and the third-class ticket as proof that Gandhi was their representative, and that made him “the greatest politician.”
Related jabs
• He called Gandhi’s rejection of machines after the spinning wheel, and of railways and the telegraph, an idiotic philosophy that would keep India poor.
• He said Gandhi’s nonviolence was cultivated and polished, with violence coming “from the back door.”
• He told a childhood story of waiting for Gandhi’s train and being asked to donate the three rupees in his pocket into Gandhi’s collection box. That, he said, put him off Gandhi for good; he saw a businessman, not a mahatma.
• He also said he loved Gandhi’s personal truthfulness, even while rejecting the philosophy.
These are Osho’s polemics, repeated in talks, not a historian’s account. The Naidu line (“It costs a fortune to keep Gandhi poor”) is a well-known contemporary joke, and Gandhi did travel with a goat and take goat’s milk after giving up cow and buffalo milk. Special reserved coaches and a large entourage on his tours are also documented. The Lux soap, daily fruit-and-nut diet, and exact rupee figures are Osho’s claims; they are part of his attack on performed poverty, not established detail.OSHO

An appeal to the youth, spoken with compassion and truth—
Youth power is the only force that can turn the course of storms, tempests, and tsunamis.
If your energy awakens, the world can take a new form.
You can protect the coming generation from being divided in the name of religion and political conspiracy. You alone can open the path of spiritual growth alongside modernization.
I fold my hands and ask you—
Close your eyes and reflect, even once.
How many innocents have already died in the frenzy of expanding religion and national borders?
Have you heard the death toll of the recent war between Ukraine and Russia?
Have you felt the cries that rose before and during the fire between Iran, the United States, and Israel?
I dream that the people born on the soil of Russia, Ukraine, and Iran will rise against the killing of human beings and stop their own governments.
I do not want a soldier who enlisted in the army to become a puppet in the hands of a foolish ruler.
I call upon the armies of the entire earth: stand up to make Mother Earth one.
I am Time.
I have seen everything that happened before you came into existence.
Wake up while there is still time. Time that has passed does not wait for anyone. Later, there will not even be a moment left for regret.
Compassion is the greatest power.
Young people, turn your fire toward creation, not destruction.
