Women’s Health Therapist specialising in Pregnancy, Postnatal & beyond through treatments & courses

I am a Clinical massage and Myofascial body worker specialising in chronic pain. I use a range of different techniques to ease pain - by not only treating the pain but by also trying to find what is causing the pain and treating that. I am also qualified to treat Pregnant and postnatal clients who are suffering with discomfort.

I often struggle to give myself a title of sorts or explain exactly what I do!

Although I have specialised in working with women I haven’t narrowed it down massively to just a certain age or issue.

I am passionate about working with women who want support in looking after their own body holistically rather than just dealing with their pain or discomfort. They want to know why, what causes their issue so they can help themselves too.

I like to look at the body as a whole rather than just treat ‘the issue’ because this is the only way we can move forward.

I am qualified to the highest level in Clinical massage therapy but I still haven’t stopped learning, reading, researching and making sure I am top of my game.

It’s not just about doing loads of courses but making sure I learn from those who can advance my own knowledge and then put that knowledge into practise.

I am forever grateful for being able to do what I do and having my clients trust to support them well throughout pregnancy, postnatally, post c section, through gynae ops, cancer ops, through to menopause.

I bring together nutrition, exercise, stretching, body awareness, massage and a whole lot of empathy! Being able to listen and support are important and they are very much part of my sessions too!

Thank you for being here and trusting and supporting me too ❣️

Pregnancy pain is not normal. You should not feel pain, this is a sign your body is telling you that something is amiss.

PGP or SPD can be so debilitating as I know from personal experience and can make your pregnancy feel so much harder than it needs too.

I did my dissertation on this and over the years I have helped so many women walk out of my room in less or no pain at all.

My knowledge and many years of experience has equipped me with a toolbox of techniques to help you. The site of your pain/discomfort is very rarely the cause so I need to assess firstly then treat and then give you some homework to do. This will be specific for you, to help you move forward without pain.

Please don’t think that being in pain in pregnancy is normal and to put up with it.

✨ Bloating post C Section ✨

I’m often asked whether a C Section Recovery massage is just for the scar.

The session itself is not purely for the scar it’s important to include any further restrictions caused by the scar as well as bloating.

I don’t often share pictures but I wanted to show how 1 session can make such a difference.

In truth often 1 session is enough but I always tell my clients to wait at least a month and then reassess what they feel and how they look.

When you have a session with me I will assess the body as a whole and treat what I find. This session is not a ‘one size fits all’ but a carefully created session that we decide together on the day you attend. It’s made completely personal to you ❤️

So many clients come in stressed and worried about one thing and another.

I feel this and I understand it but I want you to know that I’m not here to judge.

As you go into your ‘zone’ so do I.

All that matters to me is working with the body on my bed to enable you to leave my room feeling lighter and more yourself. All those little things don’t matter ❣️

We talk a lot about engaging the pelvic floor muscles and contracting them, also known as doing ‘kegels’.

Having a strong pelvic floor throughout our life is essential and we need this during pregnancy, labour and our postnatal life as well as the rest of our lives!

To be able to ‘birth’ our baby vaginally we need to be able to soften and lengthen our muscles and many mums find this hard.

Why? Because we spend our lives with our body switched on and a lot of us grip our tummy muscles, pelvic floor, inner thighs and glutes. Allow a ‘release’ to soften and lengthen can be really hard.

Practise breathing in and on an exhale just allowing this softening and lengthening to happen.

Save this video so you can practise the moves throughout your pregnancy and postnatal life. These are especially useful if you’re struggling with leaking or mild incontinence.

If you join my pregnancy or postnatal exercise classes we go through these a lot….they are key to helping your mobility and strength 💪🏻

I love using visualisations to help my mums prepare for labour and to use in labour itself.

Because of the shape of the pelvis I think it’s thought that our baby will drop down in to the pelvis and out like a basket ball going into a hoop but that’s not the case.

The baby needs to navigate the bony structures within the pelvis so there are a series of rotations they need to do and they often need help from us to make these movements!

Think about your baby being the last piece of the puzzle…it never just slots in we need to wiggle and jiggle it in and this is a great way to imagine the baby entering the pelvis!

Imagine it, manifest it and allow your body to move with the baby to support them.

🌟 Postnatal Massage 🌟

Giving a massage to a Mother who has given birth whether recently or several years ago is absolutely not just another massage.

I take into account what her pregnancy was like, her labour, her 4th trimester and piece it together to give her the session she needs physically and emotionally.

I am not trying to help this Mother return to the woman she was because she will never be that person.

After each birth we grow a little seeing the world through different eyes, having experienced something no one else will experience in exactly the same way and it reshapes us all!

Physically and emotionally.

But this session is about resetting, reshaping and growing and supporting this Mother in whatever way she needs to do this ❣️

Those first few days and weeks post C Section can feel quite daunting knowing what you can or should be doing.

I am in the process of writing a free leaflet to add to my website as an offering to mums but hopefully this can help some of you in the meantime.

✅ It’s important to rest as much as you can but gentle movement is also so important. Try standing up as straight as you can to prevent back ache and move slowly and purposefully. This helps with your digestion as well as keeping your body moving.

✅ Use your breath purposefully to activate your core as well as gently mobilising the scar. Take a full breath into the side of your ribs feeling your tummy gently expand and a slow exhale. Slow and steady. Try doing this lying on your bed as well as in standing.

✅ Stay hydrated! Make sure you are taking in enough fluids and use an electrolyte to help keep you hydrated. The bonus is this will also help keep your stools soft so you don’t have to strain or become constipated. Give your pelvic floor a little break!

Pregnancy massage….such a beautiful treatment to give a mother to be.

You may be coming because you are in discomfort or pain and need some help to work out what’s causing it and get it treated or you may be coming because you just want to relax and find some precious special time for you ❣️

Whatever your reason you will be welcomed in and I will make the session specific to your needs and how you’re feeling.

Suitable from 12 weeks till your baby arrives and I have had several mums arrive in early labour and that is absolutely fine. You are in very safe hands with me.

The ‘Nurture for Labour’ is a specific massage once you have reached 37 weeks where I can use some beautiful oils and specific acupressure, reflexology points and guided meditation to prepare your body for labour. Make sure you book this one in advance!

Did you have a pregnancy massage with me? How did you find it? I’d love to know 🥰

Massive thanks to my beautiful model Liz and her amazing husband Adam both of for making this video for me 🙏
