Summer haircare tips you need to know

Sunshine and holidays are amazing—but your hair might not feel the same way. UV rays, chlorine, salt water and heat can all leave hair feeling dry, faded and more prone to breakage.

Here’s how to keep your hair healthy all summer long👇

Protect from the sun
Pop on a hat or scarf to help reduce UV damage, especially during peak sunshine hours. You can also use leave-in conditioners or styling products with UV protection.

Before swimming:
Wet your hair with clean water first—this helps stop it from absorbing as much chlorine or salt water as a sponge would.

After swimming:
Rinse ASAP to remove chlorine, salt, and any build-up.

Ease off heat styling
Your hair is already dealing with heat outside—give straighteners and curlers a break when you can.

Deep condition weekly
Hydration is key for soft, smooth, healthy hair. Masks help restore moisture and reduce dryness.

Don’t skip trims
Regular trims help prevent split ends from getting worse in the heat.

Need personalised advice or holiday hair prep? Our team is always happy to help.

You’ve been using shampoo all wrong: here’s how much you actually need

Are you using too much shampoo and conditioner (most people are)

When it comes to washing your hair, more product doesn’t mean better results — in fact, it can do the opposite.

Here’s how much you actually need for healthy, salon-worthy hair:

Shampoo:
A coin-sized amount is usually enough for short to medium hair.
If your hair is longer or thicker, you may need slightly more — but always focus it on your scalp, not your ends. That’s where oil and build-up live, and the rinse will cleanse the rest.

Conditioner:
Keep conditioner away from the roots and apply it mainly to the mid-lengths and ends. This is where hair is driest and needs the most care. A small amount goes a long way!

What happens if you use too much?

Shampoo can strip natural oils → leaving hair dry and dull
Conditioner can weigh hair down → making it look flat and greasy
How to tell if you’re using the right amount:
Your hair should feel clean, soft, and light — not squeaky, heavy, or coated.

Using the right products in the right amounts makes a huge difference to how your hair looks and feels between salon visits.

Freshly coloured hair feels amazing — but keeping that salon-fresh vibrancy takes the right aftercare.

Here are our top tips to help your colour stay glossy, rich and beautiful for longer:

1. Switch to sulphate-free products
Harsh shampoos can strip colour faster than you think. A sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo and conditioner helps protect your shade and keeps it looking fresher for longer.

2. Wash less, glow more
Every wash fades a little colour. Try stretching out the time between washes where possible, and use dry shampoo to keep hair feeling fresh in between.

3. Turn down the heat
Straighteners, curlers and hot dryers can dull your colour over time. Always use a heat protectant to minimise damage and keep shine locked in.

4. Protect from the sun
UV rays can fade and change colour tones, especially lighter shades. A hat or UV-protective hair products make a big difference.

5. Keep it hydrated
Moisture is key for vibrant colour. Regular conditioning treatments help hair stay smooth, glossy and reflective — making your colour pop.

6. Don’t skip your salon maintenance
Toners, glosses and root touch-ups are essential for keeping your colour looking fresh, polished and intentional.

The truth about glossy, healthy hair? Regular trims are non-negotiable.

Even if you’re growing your hair, skipping the scissors isn’t the move. A fresh cut every 6–10 weeks keeps your hair looking strong, shiny, and salon-fresh.

Why it matters: Split ends don’t stay put—they travel up the hair shaft, causing breakage, dullness, and loss of shape. Left too long, even the best blow-dry or colour won’t hit the same.

Think of a haircut as a reset
It removes hidden damage from heat, colouring, and everyday stress, bringing back softness, movement, and that healthy, light feeling.

And it’s all about shape
Hair grows unevenly. Without regular trims, layers lose their structure, ends look tired, and your style stops looking intentional.

The result?
Hair that’s smoother, easier to style, and frames your face beautifully—helping you look and feel instantly more polished.

Beach waves with straighteners? Yes, really!

Beachy curls are one of those timeless, effortless styles that look easy—but there’s a little technique behind them.

The best part? You don’t need a curling wand. Your straightener does the job perfectly.

Here’s how to get soft, textured beach waves at home👇

Step 1:
Start with dry, brushed hair. Smooth out any knots for an even finish.

Step 2:
Always apply heat protectant. This keeps your hair glossy and prevents heat damage.

Step 3:
Section your hair. Smaller sections make more defined waves. Larger sections create a softer, undone texture.

Step 4:
Clamp your straightener halfway down each section, then rotate it 180° away from your face while gliding down. Think soft “S” shapes, not straight lines.

👉 Tip: Alternate directions for a more natural, lived-in beach look.

Step 5:
Let your waves cool completely before touching them (this helps them set!).

Step 6:
Gently run your fingers through to break them up and soften the look.

Step 7:
Finish with a texturising or sea salt spray for that effortless, beachy vibe.

Hair health starts from within👇

Want stronger, healthier-looking hair? These nutrients can play an important role:

🌱 Biotin
☀️ Vitamin D
💪 Zinc
🩸 Iron
🐟 Omega-3s

Remember, healthy hair growth takes time. Hair typically grows around ½ inch per month, so consistency is key.

There’s no magic pill for overnight Rapunzel locks!

The best results come from a combination of:
✂️ Regular trims
💆 Scalp care
🥗 Good nutrition
💧 Healthy habits

Nourish your hair, trust the process, and let your hair thrive.
