“That looks really red… is that normal after microneedling?” ❤️

This is immediately following a professional microneedling treatment — and it’s a perfect example of just how differently every individual’s skin can respond.

For this treatment, needle depths of only 0.25mm–0.75mm were used, yet his skin produced quite a significant redness response.

And this is exactly why redness and bleeding are NOT a measure of how effective a microneedling treatment has been.

Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response. Immediately afterwards, blood flow to the area increases and the inflammatory phase of healing begins — which can leave the skin looking red, warm and similar to sunburn.

🩸 Some clients become very red at relatively shallow depths.
🤍 Others may show much less redness at the same depth.
🧬 Different concerns and different areas of the face require different needle depths.
✨ More trauma does not equal better results.

Over the following days and weeks, the skin moves through its repair and remodelling phases, supporting new collagen and elastin and gradually improving texture, fine lines, firmness, pores and overall skin quality.

The visible redness will usually settle considerably within 24–48 hours, but the processes we’ve stimulated beneath the surface continue for weeks afterwards.

Professional microneedling isn't about going as deep as possible or making the skin bleed.

It's about creating the right level of controlled stimulation for that individual skin. 🤍

And after every microneedling treatment?
Gentle aftercare + daily SPF are non-negotiable. ☀️

PSORIASIS & FACIAL TREATMENTS 🖤

Having psoriasis doesn't automatically mean you can't enjoy professional skin treatments — but it does mean your treatment needs to be carefully considered and tailored to your skin.

Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin condition that can cause areas of skin to become dry, flaky, thickened, sore or irritated. Because the skin barrier may already be compromised, some advanced treatments can potentially cause further irritation or trigger a flare.

🔬 Treatments such as microneedling, dermaplaning, chemical peels and other forms of intensive exfoliation may not be appropriate over active psoriasis or during a flare.

This is exactly why consultation matters.

Before every treatment at AB Glo Collective, I'll assess your skin, discuss your medical history, current flare-ups, medications and skincare, and make sure the treatment we're considering is suitable for you.

Sometimes that may mean:

✨ Adapting the facial
✨ Avoiding affected areas
✨ Choosing a gentler treatment
✨ Postponing treatment until the skin has settled
✨ Or recommending that you speak to your GP/dermatology team before proceeding

And that's okay.

A good facial isn't about doing as much as possible — it's about doing what's appropriate for YOUR skin.
