🧤 GLOVES AREN’T JUST FOR SHOW — THEY’RE PART OF GOOD HYGIENE & SAFETY 🧤

Something I think clients should be looking out for when choosing a nail technician is how seriously they take hygiene and personal protection. 💅

You might notice that I wear a fresh pair of gloves when working on you — and there’s a very good reason for it.

As nail technicians, we work with products, dust, solvents and other substances that can cause irritation, dermatitis or allergic reactions with repeated exposure. HSE guidance specifically recognises protective gloves as PPE that may be required when working with hazardous substances, depending on the task and the risks involved. 🧤

Gloves can help to:

✨ Reduce direct skin contact with products and contaminants
✨ Protect the technician's hands from repeated exposure
✨ Reduce the risk of transferring contaminants
✨ Provide an additional barrier during treatments and removals
✨ Help maintain a professional and hygienic working environment

BUT — and this is really important — gloves don't replace proper hand hygiene.

I still wash/sanitise my hands, use fresh gloves for clients and change them whenever necessary. Gloves can themselves become contaminated, so they need to be used correctly too.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance on COSHH and beauty treatments states that some nail products can cause skin irritation and allergies, and that protective gloves may be needed for certain tasks.

So when you see your nail tech putting on a fresh pair of gloves, don't think:

"Oh, they're being fussy!" 😂

Think:

"They're taking my safety — and their own — seriously." ❤️
