Sometimes the problem isn’t that you haven’t found the right product yet.

Sometime what you need is for someone to take a step back and ask whether we’re actually treating the right thing. To come in and ask the right questions and put the pieces of the puzzle together.

This case is a perfect example of why I don’t believe in blindly adding more products when skin isn’t improving.

We need to look at the whole picture, how the skin looks, where it appears, symptoms, lifestyle, what’s already been tried and how the skin has responded.

Once we start asking better questions, we can start making better decisions about what the skin actually needs.

And that’s the difference between recommending skincare and assessing skin.

If you’re stuck in the cycle of trying product after product with no real improvement, DM me “SKIN” and let’s talk about how I can help. 🤍

I don’t think being a good skin specialist is just about knowing which treatment or product to use.

It’s about listening, being honest, looking at the bigger picture and genuinely caring about your results. 🤍

I want you to feel looked after, never pressured, and confident that we’re doing what’s right for your skin.

And most importantly, I want my treatment room to feel like your little escape from the chaos of everyday life.

If you’re ready to put your skin back on the list, send me a DM or book your consultation through the link in my bio. 🤍

Skin Food Diary 🥑🍓

Another little peek at some of the food I’ve been eating lately.

Nothing fancy or restrictive, just food I genuinely enjoy, with a focus on protein, fibre, variety and plenty of plants.

Greek yoghurt bowls are on repeat 😂 and yes, there’s still plenty of Tupperware involved.

I’m trying to think about food less in terms of “eating for my skin” and more about eating for my long-term health with healthy skin being one of the lovely side effects. 🤍

Good food doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to be nourishing and enjoyable.

So, what WOULD I put my money into if my goal was supporting collagen and skin ageing? 👇🏼

First, I’d start with the foundations.

🥚 Enough protein
Collagen is a protein, and your body needs adequate protein and the amino acids it provides for repair, maintenance and building new tissue.

So before adding another supplement, I’d make sure I’m actually eating enough protein consistently from good quality sources such as eggs, fish, meat, dairy, soy, beans and lentils.

☀️ Daily SPF
If we’re talking about protecting the collagen you already have, this is a big one. UV exposure contributes to collagen breakdown, so protecting your skin every day is one of the most important things you can do for long-term skin health.

🍊 Antioxidants
Both through your diet and your skincare. Antioxidants can help protect skin from oxidative stress and support overall skin health.

✨ A retinol/retinoid
Depending on your skin, tolerance and what’s appropriate for you, retinoids have much stronger evidence behind them for supporting collagen production and improving the signs of skin ageing.

🩸 Collagen-stimulating treatments
This is where I’d much rather spend my money if collagen production is the goal.

Treatments such as microneedling can stimulate the skin’s natural wound-healing response and encourage new collagen production.

And what about collagen supplements?
I’m not anti-collagen supplement.

If you take one, you feel like you notice a difference and you’re happy spending the money on it, great! You can absolutely make your own decision about whether it’s worth it for you.

But personally?

If I had £40 a month to spend on my skin, I’d prioritise protein, SPF, evidence-based skincare and collagen-stimulating treatments first.

Because I’d rather put my money where the evidence is strongest. 🤍

Save this for the next time you’re tempted by a £40 tub of collagen!

This is probably one of the most honest posts I’ve shared.

Being a skin practitioner isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being curious, continuing to learn, and always wanting to do better for the people who trust you with their skin.

This client taught me something really valuable.

Sometimes we can do all the “right” things from the outside, but skin is complex. There are so many factors that can influence what we see on the surface.

That’s why I decided to invest in further education around Functional Skin Health.

Because my goal has never been to simply sell skincare or perform treatments.

My goal is to understand your skin, understand your journey, and help you create real, sustainable change.

As part of my Functional Skin Health training, I’m looking for 2–3 client case studies with ongoing skin concerns such as persistent acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, sensitive skin, or other chronic skin conditions.

We’ll take a much deeper dive into your skin than a standard consultation, exploring factors such as your lifestyle, nutrition, stress, hormones, skincare routine and potential triggers to create a truly personalised plan.

If you’ve been struggling with your skin and feel like you’ve tried everything, this could be exactly what you’re looking for.

If you’d like to find out more, send me a DM and we’ll arrange a free discovery call to see if it’s the right fit for you. 🤍
