A man was arrested on suspicion of several offences thanks to the quick actions of PCSOs out on patrol in Three Rivers yesterday (Tuesday 11 August) 👏

PCSOs John and Chris started their day by hosting a crime prevention event, focusing on how to protect belongings from pickpockets. It was well attended, with numerous members of the public stopping to chat and give positive feedback.

Following the event, the pair conducted high-visibility patrols around South Oxhey, engaging with shopkeepers to discuss any concerns around theft, anti-social behaviour and town centre safety.

During a quick hydration pitstop, the pair were approached by a member of the public who reported that an attempt had just been made to steal his wallet from his back pocket.

A description was obtained and an immediate search of the area was carried out 👀

A man was subsequently stopped and detained by the pair, before fellow Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) colleagues arrived to make an arrest.

Meanwhile, officers in Watford were investigating a separate theft offence in their area and were also searching for a suspect, who happened to match the description of the man detained in Three Rivers.

A 22-year-old man from Wembley was arrested on suspicion of:

• Theft from person
• Common assault
• ABH
• Possession of a Class B drug

This is a great example of how high-visibility patrols, proactive crime prevention work and quick action following information from the public can lead directly to an arrest and help keep our communities safe.

⛔ A property in at the centre of widespread drug activity and associated anti-social behaviour (ASB) has been shut down following a painstaking investigation by police and partner agencies.

Multiple reports have been made regarding activity at the flat in Oxhey Drive, which was causing fear and distress among the local community.

The Community Safety Unit (CSU) worked alongside local officers, Three Rivers District Council and Chime Homes, to collate evidence and apply for a closure order.

It was granted at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday (7 August) and prevents anyone from entering the address for three months. Anyone who does so faces arrest. The Constabulary can seek extension of the order if necessary.

🗣️ Sergeant Gary Yam, from the Community Safety Unit, said: “The behaviour linked to this address was having a significant impact on those living nearby, leaving residents feeling unsettled and concerned in their own community. No one should have to experience that.

“This closure order demonstrates that we are listening to local people and responding to the issues they raise. We will continue to work with our partners and take robust action, including seeking closure orders where necessary, to tackle drug crime and anti-social behaviour and protect residents’ quality of life.

“If you have information about crime or anti-social behaviour in your neighbourhood, please report it to us. Every report is taken seriously and plays an important role in helping us build the evidence needed to take action.”
