Wondering what really works for crepey skin?

The reality is that crepey skin is driven by changes happening at multiple levels simultaneously, collagen and elastin loss, reduced skin hydration, thinning of the deeper layers and a gradual decline in the skin's ability to repair itself, which is why treating it well rarely comes down to one product or one treatment alone.

It also tends to appear in areas where the skin is already thinner and more delicate, around the eyes, the neck, the décolletage and the inner arms, and it accelerates through perimenopause and menopause as hormonal changes compound everything else.

With the right combination of treatments, approached in the right order and consistently over time, meaningful improvement is very achievable.

The earlier it's addressed, the easier it tends to be to manage, but it's also never too late to start seeing real improvement.

If you’re unsure what’s actually causing changes to your skin and want honest guidance on what will help, book a consultation through the link in my bio, and we’ll look at it properly together 💌

Sculptra is probably the treatment I get asked about most, and also the one that's most misunderstood.

People often assume it works like filler. But rather than adding volume, it triggers your own body to rebuild collagen that's been gradually lost, which is exactly why the results look so different.

The face improves steadily over several months, becoming firmer and better supported in a way that looks entirely natural, and the most common feedback I hear is that people around them have started saying they simply look well or more rested. That's the result I'm always aiming for.

It works particularly well through the cheeks, temples and lower face where flattening and loss of support tend to be most noticeable, and results continue to develop for up to six months after the final session, with many patients seeing them last two years or more. For patients in their forties and beyond, it's one of the most consistently impressive treatments we have available.

Anyone who’s driven along Brooklands Road will recognise Arden Hall. It’s a beautiful Grade II listed property that’s stood there for as long as most of us can remember, and I’ve looked at it countless times over the years and imagined how special it would be to have a clinic within those walls.

To be sharing that it’s actually happening still feels a little surreal!

When I started looking to move, I knew an ordinary high street space was never going to be right. What I wanted for my patients was somewhere safe and clinical, of course, but also discreet, private and genuinely beautiful. Somewhere that feels like an escape the moment you walk in, rather than just another appointment. Arden Hall is exactly that, and more than I ever thought I’d find 🤍

I’ll be sharing more of the space tomorrow, so keep an eye out 👀

A new chapter is beginning, and I could not be more excited to share it with you ✨️

Keep your eyes peeled - more to be revealed tomorrow 👀

I’m generally someone who enjoys being active and eating well, but the irony is that when life becomes busy or stressful, they’re usually the first things to disappear. Exactly when I probably need them the most.

I’ve also realised over the years that I spend far too much energy worrying about things that are completely outside my control. I’m getting better at reminding myself that some things are simply not mine to carry.

The other big one is boundaries.

For a long time, I found it much easier to avoid disappointing other people than to disappoint myself. Looking back, I can see how often I said yes because I felt guilty saying no.

I’m learning that protecting your time doesn’t make you selfish. It makes you more present for the people and the things that matter most.

None of these things are huge life-changing goals. They’re just small habits and mindset shifts that I think would make everyday life feel a little calmer and a little healthier.

Work in progress, but hopefully heading in the right direction!

What’s something you’re trying to get better at? 💬

Something I hear a lot in clinic from women going through perimenopause is that their face just doesn't feel like theirs anymore.

The skin feels different, things have shifted, and nothing they're putting on it seems to be making much difference.

Perimenopause doesn't just affect how you feel. It has a very real and measurable impact on the structure and quality of your face, and it's something that doesn't get talked about enough.

As oestrogen declines, it affects collagen production, skin hydration, bone density, fat distribution and the ligaments that hold everything in position, often all at the same time.

The result is a face that can start to look flatter, heavier, less defined and more tired, and a quality to the skin that feels like it's changed in a way that's hard to put your finger on.

Understanding what's actually driving those changes is the starting point for doing something meaningful about them 👉🏼

A few days in Málaga with some of my favourite people. ❤️

We’ve been friends since the early days of medical school, so somehow we’re creeping towards 30 years of friendship (which feels both impossible and mildly offensive).

Life gets busy. Careers, children, endless diaries…and sometimes it takes escaping to another country just to properly catch up. But that’s the lovely thing about friendships like these. Whether it’s been weeks or months, we always pick up exactly where we left off.

We’ve laughed through some of the best times, supported each other through some of the worst, and somehow the friendship just keeps getting stronger. There’s genuinely never a dull moment.

Highlights included incredible food and wine, a few cocktails (one featuring the most… creative garnish I’ve ever seen 🍸🙈), and the annual room lottery. I drew first pick and, for once, luck was on my side. The friend who cared most about getting the best room? Let’s just say she drew last… and despite the negotiations, I wasn’t giving up that balcony view. 😏

And because every girls’ trip needs at least one dramatic plot twist… ours ended with being burgled on the final night. Not quite the souvenir we’d planned, but somehow even that has become part of the story.

Already looking forward to the next one.

Where should we book next? Let me know 👇🏼

I set myself a challenge of 30 books this year, and I’m already 19 in, which feels pretty good going considering we’re only in July! Right now I’m halfway through The Calamity Club, and there’s a real chance it’ll end up being one of my favourites of the whole year, so I’ll report back properly once I’ve actually finished it.

Of everything I’ve read so far, the ones that have really stayed with me are Nesting, Prima Facie and The Great Alone. I’ll be honest though, I didn’t quite get the hype around Yesterday, The Correspondent and My Friends - they all seem to get outstanding reviews, but I found them a little slow for my taste.

The thing I’ve noticed is that it’s always the stories of trauma and misery that end up topping my list; it seems a book almost has to make me cry before it earns its five stars from me, which probably says something about me, but there we go!

If you’ve read something brilliant lately, please let me know in the comments. I’m always on the hunt for my next one 📚️
