Our talented Level 3 Hairdressing learner has been busy putting together these fantastic mood boards, showcasing five creative hair-up designs! 😍

These aren't just beautiful mood boards – they're an important part of the planning and preparation process!

Each look has been carefully researched and broken down, identifying the techniques, tools, products and accessories needed to bring each style to life. From intricate plaits and twists to elegant buns and creative updos, there's some wonderful inspiration here! ✨

The mood boards will also be used as visual references in our salon, helping our learner recreate, practise and perfect each of the five styles as they develop their practical skills.

We love seeing our learners combine creativity with technical knowledge, planning and attention to detail. It's all part of developing the confidence and skills needed within the hairdressing industry.

💇‍♀️✨ FIRST ATTEMPT… AND THEY'VE ABSOLUTELY SMASHED IT! 👏😍

Just LOOK at this beautiful French pleat! 🤩❤️

Our learner took on the challenge of creating this classic, elegant updo for the very first time, and what an incredible result!

A French pleat requires precision, patience, control and a good understanding of hair placement and structure. It's certainly not one of the easiest styles to master, especially on your first attempt!

But looking at this result, you'd never know it was their first time! 👏

It's moments like these that remind us just how much potential our learners have. With the right guidance, encouragement and a willingness to give something new a go, they can achieve amazing things. ❤️

🎨🪵 From Construction to Colour – Our Planters Are Taking Shape! 🌿👏

Remember the fantastic wooden planters our Ignite learners have been busy constructing? Well, they've now reached the next exciting stage… PAINTING! 🎨🤩

After all their hard work measuring, cutting, assembling and constructing their planters using recycled wood, our learners are now putting the finishing touches on their creations!

It's wonderful to see a project progress from individual pieces of timber into something our learners can be genuinely proud of. ❤️

Projects like these teach so much more than practical construction skills. They encourage patience, perseverance, attention to detail and, most importantly, the satisfaction of seeing a project through from start to finish.

👩‍🍳🍝 Cooking Up a Storm in Life Skills This Week! 🍜❤️

Our Ember learners have been busy putting their cooking skills to the test this week, and WOW, what a fantastic job they've done! 👏

On the menu were two delicious meals: Pasta Bolognese and Chicken Stir-Fry, both prepared from scratch using fresh ingredients, with guidance and support from our wonderful team. ❤️

But here's the impressive part… our learners cooked enough to feed 18 people EACH DAY! 🤩👏

Cooking in bulk, preparing fresh ingredients, following recipes, managing portions and working together as a team are all valuable life skills that help build confidence, independence and practical skills for the future.

And the best part? Seeing everyone sit down and enjoy the meals they'd worked so hard to prepare! 🥰

The feedback was wonderful, with so much appreciation and gratitude from everyone who was fed. We think our learners secretly enjoy all the praise just as much as they enjoy eating their creations! 🤭❤️

Cooking is so much more than preparing a meal. It's about developing independence, learning new skills, taking pride in your achievements and experiencing the satisfaction of doing something for others.

A HUGE well done to all our budding chefs this week! 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

Celebrating 10 years! 🎉

As we begin a new academic year, we're taking a moment to reflect on how far we've come over the last decade.

It all started with a phone call from an old friend and colleague, asking if I'd like to teach alongside her. That one conversation changed everything, began our journey and I will be forever grateful for it!

We started by supporting young people from the care sector, giving them the chance to flourish and gain new skills in hair and beauty. Today, we deliver full NVQ qualifications in hair, beauty, construction, vehicle maintenance, functional skills and, most recently, childcare. We are now registered with three awarding bodies and have built some wonderful partnerships, including Learning Trade Skills, which has broadened the vocational courses we can offer.

None of this would have been possible without the people who have supported us. To our amazing colleagues, who give their all every single day. To the schools who have helped us grow. And to the local authorities who trust us to deliver high-quality education. Thank you.

I'm genuinely excited to see what the next 10 years will bring. Our Post 16 offer is growing daily, and with our brand-new Pre 16 programme has this September, enabling us to support school aged learners via EOTAS packages. We have a busy and exciting time ahead as we continue to establish ourselves as one of the county's leading training providers.

✨ FROM NEVER PLAITING BEFORE… TO THIS IN ONE DAY! ✨

One of the things we love most is seeing just how much our learners can achieve when they’re given the time, patience and support to practise. ❤️

Some learners come to us having never plaited hair before, so even mastering a standard plait can take concentration, coordination, persistence and plenty of practice.

But look at the progress made in just one day! 👏🏼😍

Our learners practised different plaiting techniques, learning how to control the hair, maintain tension and create a neat, consistent finish. What might look effortless once mastered actually takes a lot of skill!

It’s a brilliant reminder that everyone has to start somewhere. With encouragement, practice and the willingness to keep trying, skills that initially feel difficult can quickly start to become achievable. 💇🏼‍♀️✨

We are so proud of the determination shown — amazing progress for just one day of learning! ❤️👏🏼

Level 3 is all about taking those core hairdressing skills and developing them further, giving learners the opportunity to experiment with different techniques, creativity and their own individual style.
