The man. The legend. back in the clinic today. šŖ
Iāve always said itāSimon is the of Hampshire.
The feats of strength, endurance and sheer grit this man is capable of are genuinely inspiring.
Over the past couple of weeks, Iāve been trying to put out some of the fires that come with pushing the human body to its limits.
After completing a 50 km ultramarathon several weeks ago, Simon developed significant MCL pain. Despite that, just five weeks later heās back up another mountain.
Todayās session was his second visit in the last two weeks, and before we even started he said, āItās even worse.ā
This is the paradox of high performers. The same mindset that builds incredible strength, endurance and resilience can also make it incredibly difficult to back off when the body is asking for it.
Right now, Simon doesnāt need more toughnessāhe has plenty of that. He needs a proper deload, a strategic change of direction, and the discipline to let the knee recover before it becomes a much bigger problem.
The strongest athletes arenāt just the ones who know how to push. Theyāre the ones who know when to pull back.

Ron came into the clinic today taking an emergency appointment with me after hurting his back digging yesterday in his job as a landscaper.
Ron was in some serious pain and contemplated going to the hospital.
I don't post much on social media as i am super busy all day every day.
Its still important that people know the clinic is here in Southampton and what I can do to help my patients. So I post a video like this every now and then.
I see patients like this every day. Whether or not it's crippling lower back pain or a pinched nerve somewhere in the body.
If you are in pain or know someone book that appointment with me, George - 07881371327 or inbox on here.
If you think this could possibly help someone, why not pop them a tag or share the post.
This one needs some sound for context.š
You donāt often see Simon slowed down.
When one of the toughest men I know walks in struggling with knee pain, you know itās something worth taking seriously.
Following a full assessment and clinical testing, the signs pointed towards an injury involving the right medial collateral ligament (MCL). The knee was also carrying significant swelling.
Best case: an MCL strain.
Worst case: an MCL tear.
Without imaging, itās impossible to know for certain, so at this stage that remains a working assessment rather than a confirmed diagnosis.
Treatment today focused on reducing pain and improving movement using:
⢠Soft tissue therapy
⢠Mobility and stretching
⢠Cupping (which Simon wasnāt expecting!)
By the end of the session, his symptoms had settled considerably, the knee was much less sensitive, and movement had improved.
This is only part of todayās treatment. We also worked on his posterior shoulder, which will feature in another video.
Recovery is a process, not a race. Simon will be back in a couple of weeks so we can reassess the knee and continue progressing his rehabilitation.
Thanks for trusting me, Simon. Looking forward to getting you back doing what you do best.

Today I had Simon Martin from Portsmouth in the clinic. AKA Simon Martin
Simon has built a huge following on Instagram through his incredible feats of strength, power, endurance and relentless determination. Even in his late 50s, heās built like a Greek godāa testament to decades of discipline and hard work.
His biggest issues today werenāt from years in the gymāthey stemmed from a recent 50K run, which had left him with multiple areas needing attention.
This first session was very much about putting out fires. We focused on reducing pain, improving movement and addressing the most pressing problems. We barely scratched the surface, but it was a solid first step.
The full video is coming soon. Weāll break down the assessment, the treatment and the plan to get Simon moving and performing at his best again.
Sometimes the toughest athletes are the ones who need the most maintenanceāand Simon is a perfect example of that. šŖ
