Conquer Me 365

This has been on my mind too long now. Over the last 2 weeks especially I’ve seen the disregulation and lack of energy coming from our 9 year old. I asked him this week in an very open way, “what is it mate?”
His reply was along the lines of school is too much at the moment. Other kids showing disrespect to him pushing buttons, constant orders from his teacher, him being misunderstood and then removed from class.

Now of course, kids have imaginations and can be very choosy when telling stories. When I listen to him I keep my response balanced and encourage him to always tell the truth and he knows me and his Mum expect him to follow certain rules of the school and respect others.

But after myself being in the presence of his teacher, I can’t help but feel a snaky smarmy and false energy from him. He’s not a man I would have in my circle. Energy doesn’t lie.

This teacher is always last out with my son’s class. At first we didn’t ask, but then we find out it’s because the teacher will ask the class (34 8/9 year olds) to be quiet before he lets them go, if even a small number of them talk he simply sits there and lets it happen. When the kids realise that he’s waiting for them to be quiet he’ll then say “it’s your time not mine” “your parents are waiting” or he sometimes gets them to stand up, sit down… Up to 8x (my sons words)… in my opinion this is just a man with very low self awareness, self esteem & cannot regulate his own emotions as the above to me feels like an emotional reaction.

Removing my ego … sitting with what feels true in my gut I’m saying to myself “AJ! … what are you doing” - literally sending my son to an establishment where teachers (not all, I know. I also know teachers from my community who are a breath of fresh air) are bullying them, playing mind games and literally making their life a misery.

There has to be another option, I don’t want to keep sending him to a place where a grown f**king man thinks he can behave that way towards my son and of course any child.

Reflecting on my own time in school, it was misery somedays… I want to make a change.
