This morning, while I was reading my Bible, a notification popped up with this thought for the day:
“Fear is looking at the future without God. Faith is knowing He is in control.”
It honestly stopped me in my tracks.
I have been sitting with it all day because it speaks so deeply to where I am. There have been times I have allowed fear and worry to overwhelm me, moments when I looked ahead and felt anxious about what was coming. But this felt like a gentle reminder from God to lift my eyes again.
Fear grows when we imagine the future without Him. Faith comes when we remember that God is already there and fully in control.
So I wanted to share this in case someone else needs the reminder today.
Do you have a good relationship with Him. If yes, you do not have to carry tomorrow on your own. Trust God. Rest in Him. He has got you.

Last night at dinner my wife Sherry asked me what my plan was for today. I told her I planned on getting up early to write devotions, take the car in for service around 8:30, then come back home and write a little more. She knows I concentrate pretty well, so she didn't need to worry about keeping the house quiet. However, she also knows I hate to be interrupted when I'm working.
This morning in the middle of researching and writing about a particularly challenging part of Scripture -- which God had just provided a fresh perspective upon -- she walked into my office with a gallon of milk to ask if I would open it for her. It had one of those pesky tabs that keep it from spilling on the way home, but can be difficult to open. I stopped typing long enough to give it a manly tug -- of course it came off and milk spilled all over my lap and onto the floor. She said: "Oops!" I started laughing. I got up and went into the kitchen to clean up and I started humming an old hymn:
All hail the power of Jesus' Name! Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.
Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre, and as they tune it, fall
Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all.
Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all.
This last line has particular significance for me: "Before His face, Who tunes their choir?", and is why I decided to share this rather ordinary experience.
As we've dug deeply into the Book of Romans, I've been shocked by the ugliness of my flesh. Still sometimes my temper will flare, yet the Lord will say to me once again: "Remember Mike, you are free. But it's not a principle that frees you, so don't write it down and commit it to memory. It is a relationship with me. Spend time more time with me."
You see Jesus is the one who tunes His choir. He is the one who takes me from singing out of order, out of tune, or missing in action, and brings me back to perfect harmony. This morning my temper didn't flare when milk spilled all over my lap. I wasn't irritated by the interruption. Why? Because Jesus had me singing with Him in perfect harmony. "All hail the power of Jesus Name!"
Questions to Ponder:
Are you feeling a little grumpy? Did the pressure of the holiday season take its toll on you? Do you wish financial matters were a little easier? Take a moment right now: Open your Bible, read it, meditate upon it, and relax in the Lord. Jesus will bring you back into harmony with Himself. He will tune His choir if we will spend time with Him. Will you? Or would you rather be miserable? The choice is ours.
Life Without Jesus is meaningless

I was born and raised in the northern part of Nigeria, Maiduguri to be exact.
Seventeen years ago, on a Saturday I will never forget, I stepped out of the house to go and make my hair. The moment I got outside, something felt off. The street was unusually quiet. Deep down, I felt a strong nudge to turn back, but I ignored it and kept going.
As I walked on, the uneasiness grew. There was no one around. No movement. No voices. Just silence. As I was about to leave the street, I ran into a neighbour who belonged to another religion. He asked where I was going, and I told him I was heading to the nearby market to make my hair. He looked at me and told me in Hausa to go back home, that the town was not safe.
I brushed it off. I told him I really needed to make my hair, that school resumes on Monday, and the woman would not be available on Sunday. After that, he walked away.
As i stepped out of the street, I began to hear chants. I looked up and saw a group of men approaching, arm@d with m@chetes, kniv@s, sticks, and gallons. In that instant, everything became clear.
I turned and ran back home as fast as I could. Looking back now, I am certain they saw me. But mercy spoke for me that day.
Many of us are like that younger version of me. We know what we are doing is wrong. Our conscience keeps warning us, but we push on anyway, determined to have our own way.
The Bible says, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?”
You may seem to be getting away with it for now, but be sure, your sin will catch up with you. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But it will.
Listen to the warning. Turn away from your wrong ways before it becomes too late.
