I couldn’t let `Plastic Free July' go by without celebrating some of the many creative ways stallholders at Stroud Farmers' Market avoid single-use plastics (and multi-use plastics for that matter 👏).

From paper bags for bread and paper-wrapped flowers, to label-free olive oil bottles, refillable honey jars and plenty of beautiful, reusable products, there are lots of brilliant ideas to spot around the market.

I’m proud to be a Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Champion too. I received the award five years ago for avoiding single-use plastic and reusing and recycling wherever possible. My products come in recyclable glass bottles and jars, soaps have a package-free option, I reuse postal packaging, and gift boxes are wrapped in recycled silk scarves to create gifts that are unique, beautiful and useful 💝

The photos feature my fellow fourth-Saturday-of-the-month stallholders Rustic Puglia , Stroud Brewery & Taproom , Karobi's Ghee, Cymbal Knits, Urraca Studios, Hobbs House Bakery and more. Just a few of the Stroud Farmers’ Market businesses finding thoughtful and inventive ways to use less plastic 💚

My next market is on 22 August when you can fill your recycled shopping bag (available from the market 😉) with gorgeous aromatherapy home fragrances - soy wax candles, diffusers and pillow sprays 🪻💤

And if you can't wait that long, you can order on my website with the promise that your items will be carefully wrapped in recycled packaging 🤎📦

I’ll be back at Stroud Farmers' Market this Saturday, and the weather forecast is looking just about perfect 🌤️ Not too hot, thankfully, after the last couple of months!

I’ll have all my usual home fragrances, made with pure essential oils to help you relax, sleep or focus, including pillow sprays, reed diffusers, candles and room sprays 🪻

The Baptist Hall Craft Market will be on too, so do pop in while you’re in town. This brilliant original Farmers Markets Booming poster came from the Citizen newspaper and is on display inside the hall, a beautiful Victorian red brick church hall, which is filled with fabulous farmers' market art.

Fun fact: when the poster was printed, I was probably working at the Citizen. But that's a story for another day… 😊

See you on Saturday, 9am–2pm.

Last month’s Stroud Farmers' Market was a hot one ☀️ It looked busy, but there were times when hardly anyone walked past my stall.

Then along came this absolute superstar in a sunflower hat and bright yellow sunglasses 🤩

We stood chatting for ages, discovered we had friends in common (it’s Stroud - of course we did) and he left me smiling like a loon 😁 It’s amazing how one unexpected conversation can completely change your mood 😊

If you need a little boost yourself, I’ll be back at Stroud Farmers’ Market on Saturday 25 July with my Focus room sprays and reed diffusers. They’re made with a blend of pure essential oils including lemon, pink grapefruit, rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus and black pepper to help lift your mood and clear your head.

Thank you, sunflower hat man. You probably had no idea how much brighter my afternoon was after you stopped by. 🌻

May have slightly oversprayed the Focus🤭 … but the sun caught it and made a *RAINBOW* 🌈😊💛

Entirely appropriate as it’s blended with pure essential oils chosen to lift your mood, sharpen your thinking and help you feel ready for whatever the day throws at you.

I can’t promise it comes with a rainbow, but I’m confident it will make you smile 😊

It’s available as a room mist (I keep one in the car), and a diffuser for all-day positivity 💛

My next Stroud Farmers' Market is on 25 July, or find it on my website, or in Made In Stroud shop and Handmade in Painswick

🌙☀️ 7 ways to help you sleep during a summer heatwave:

Night time is definitely the hardest part of a heatwave. A few things that help me beat the heat and get to sleep:

1. Close curtains and blinds during the day - then open them one the sun has set.
2. Take a lukewarm shower to help your body cool down naturally.
3. Dim the lights - it helps your body start producing melatonin and prepare for sleep.
4. Skip alcohol in the evening. It can leave you feeling hotter and disrupt your sleep.
5. Light a candle. The calming essential oils in my Sleep Easy blend, together with the soft glow of candlelight, can help create a relaxing bedtime ritual. (Remember to blow it out!)
6. Cool your feet - they help your body lose heat so cooling them can make you feel more comfortable.
7. Spritz your bed linen with an essential oil spray. A familiar scent can become part of your evening routine, helping your mind recognise that it’s time to switch off.

Small changes can make a big difference.
Save this for the next hot night.

📅 My next Stroud Farmers’ Market is on Saturday 25 July where I’ll have the full Sleep Easy range of pillow sprays, diffusers, candles and bath soaks.

Happy 27 years to Stroud Farmers' Market 🎉🎂🍓🥐🥕

The market has won multiple awards, regularly appears in ‘best farmers’ market’ lists, and is loved by locals and visitors alike 🥰

Home to 50+ stalls, it’s the best place for seasonal, freshly grown, produced, baked, picked and hand crafted products from Stroud and beyond.

Congratulations to everyone who’s worked so hard to make it such a success…and here’s to the next 27 years 🎉

I had the best holiday - basically beach, swim, eat, repeat 🥰 But I’m also really happy to be home (where I can spend time with my daughter, cuddle my dogs and enjoy the beautiful Cotswolds).

And yes, I *am* a soap maker that buys soap! It’s because I love supporting small makers, like me. Soap makes a great holiday souvenir or gift - it’s small, easy to pack and is actually useful 😊

In Corfu there was a kumquat version of everything - from sorbet to liqueur, so it had to be a kumquat soap 🍑

So I’m home now - thank you to my customers who patiently waited for their website orders - they should be with you now.

My next Stroud Farmers' Market is on Saturday 25 July - I’ll make sure to take a few soaps 😉

Thank you to everyone who shopped at Stroud Farmers' Market on Saturday - you were rewarded with cooler temperatures and even a slight breeze😊

Here are some of my favourite market picks from Rustic Puglia, Seb's Cider, Salt bakehouse, Bibury Trout Farm, Jess's Ladies Organic Milk & more- did any make it into your basket?

I’ll be taking a short break from 15-26 June ☀️

You’ll still be able to place orders through the website, but any orders received during that time will be posted on 26th.

If you need something sooner, most College Green products, including aromatherapy pillow and room sprays, diffusers, candles and bath soaks, are available in Made In Stroud shop

I’ve been busy stocking up before I go, so I’ll have my full range at Stroud Farmers' Market on 27 June.

Thank you, as always, for supporting my small business 😊 See you soon!
