The one that didn’t go exactly to plan! 🫠 (and that’s ok!)

I signed up for the Aquabike (1.9km swim and 90km bike ride)
Swimming training was in the bag but i’d only ever rode 50km before so knew the bike would be tough.
Started the swim and my goggles (which i’d used for the last 6 months and were PERFECT) started filling with water and steaming up that much I couldn’t see a thing! I stopped about 5 times to try and clear them and do what I could but nothing worked. I couldn’t sight the buoys and I went into panic mode. I had to end the swim after 8 minutes and I was absolutely GUTTED. I couldn’t swim without goggles either so I was stuck!
I decided to carry on and got on the bike and raced the 90km. It was really heavy going and at 70km I hit a wall! Needless to say carried on and I finished at 3 hours 45mins.

The scenery was stunning but with no headphones allowed or mates around it was just me and my mind 😂

Just goes to show even when you’re prepared, things can go wrong. But we learn and we keep on keeping on!

Really glad I took part in it - such a well organised race and there’s always next time!…..
