💙💛 REST DAY OR RECOVERY DAY?
Rest doesn’t always mean doing absolutely nothing—and recovery doesn’t have to involve another workout.
A gentle walk, some easy movement, good food, hydration, sleep or simply putting your feet up can all help your body recover from the work you’ve asked it to do.
After today’s turbo bike ride and brick run, my recovery involved a hot tub, a cinnamon bun and hot chocolate… followed by considerably more bike wrestling than planned! 😅
The important part is listening to your body. Notice persistent tightness, unusual soreness or changes in how you move rather than waiting until they begin affecting your training.
Sports massage can also form part of your recovery routine—helping to reduce muscular tension, support comfortable movement and keep you doing what you enjoy.
Evening and weekend appointments available in Pembroke.

🐾 Sunday body check-in…
8km in the legs today and Lori appears to have spotted something over the wall… 👀
“What’s that over there?”
Oh… it’s a sports massage clinic! 😂
After a busy weekend, what’s feeling it?
🏃 Legs after a run?
🚴 Feeling that weekend ride?
🏋️ Muscles complaining after training?
🌱 Or did the garden win this weekend?
Sports massage isn’t only for when something hurts. It can help ease muscular tension, support recovery and keep you moving comfortably.

It has finally arrived! 🎉
The official certificate is now here, making it feel that little bit more real.
It's been quite a journey from my first day in the classroom to opening my own clinic, and I'm incredibly proud of what I've achieved.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me and trusted me along the way. Here's to the next chapter! 💙💛

Your therapist should probably move too... 😉
Another Saturday, another coffee run with Gallows Café Run Club. ☕🏃♀️
I don't just treat runners—I am one.
Understanding training, recovery, sore legs, and those "why did I sign up for this?" moments helps me give better treatments to the people who trust me with their recovery.
Whether you're chasing a new PB, training for your first event, or just trying to stay active, your body deserves a little TLC too.
Have a great weekend everyone! 💙

💚 5 Green Flags to Look For in a Sports Massage Therapist 💚
Choosing a sports massage therapist isn't just about qualifications or techniques.
It's about how you feel from the moment you walk through the door.
Here are five things I believe every client deserves...
1️⃣ To be listened to first.
Before we even begin treatment, I'll ask about your goals, your symptoms, your training, your medical history and anything you're concerned about.
No two people are the same, so no two treatments should be either.
2️⃣ To stay in control.
The pressure, the areas we work on, your comfort, the room temperature, the music...
It's your treatment. If something doesn't feel right, just tell me.
3️⃣ A treatment that's designed for you.
Whether you're training for your first 5K, recovering after a race, spending long hours at a desk, or simply feeling tight and achy, your treatment is tailored to what you need that day.
4️⃣ Time to settle in and recover afterwards.
I never want you to feel rushed.
You'll have time before we begin to discuss your treatment, and afterwards we'll talk through aftercare and any exercises or advice that might help.
5️⃣ A space where you can simply relax.
Some clients love to chat.
Others enjoy the peace and quiet.
Some ask lots of questions.
Others close their eyes and switch off.
Whatever helps you feel comfortable is absolutely fine with me.
💙 My goal is simple.
For every client to leave feeling listened to, cared for and moving better than when they arrived.
If you've visited CDOTC Sports Massage Therapy and enjoyed your experience, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could leave a review. It really helps others feel confident when choosing a therapist.
Thank you for your support. 💙

🏃♀️ Easy like a Sunday morning... followed by recovery. ☕💦
This morning's easy run is done. Now comes the part that's just as important...
It's easy to think that training finishes when you stop your watch.
But recovery is just as important as the run itself.
Today's recovery looked like: 💚 A gentle soak in the hot tub 🥤 Plenty of fluids 🍌 Good food 😌 A chance to let the body recharge before another week begins.
Sometimes the biggest gains don't happen during the run... they happen afterwards, when you give your body the chance to adapt.
How are you spending your Sunday afternoon?

Earlier this week, I decided to try something a little different – a brick session.
No, I wasn't building a wall!
In triathlon training, a brick session is when you move straight from one discipline to another, usually cycling followed by running. Mine was 16km on the bike followed immediately by a 2.5km run.
I'll be honest, I wasn't entirely convinced my legs would appreciate my latest experiment!
It did get me thinking though. We all have our own version of a challenge. Earlier this week, mine was a brick session. For someone else it might be getting back to the gym after a break, training for their first 5k or simply finding time to fit a walk into a busy day.
Movement doesn't have to look the same for everyone. Whether it's running, cycling, swimming, strength training or simply getting out for a walk, there's no "right" way to keep active. Finding something you enjoy (or at least mostly enjoy when your legs are questioning your life choices!) is what matters.
At CDOTC Sports Massage Therapy I see people with all sorts of goals. Some are training for races, some want to stay active and some just want to feel less tight and achy after a day at work. Treatment is always tailored to you and your individual needs.
And if your latest exercise experiment leaves you feeling a little tight and sore afterwards... well, you know where I am!

Thinking about booking a Sports Massage but feeling a little nervous?
If you've never had a Sports Massage before, it's completely normal to wonder what happens during your appointment.
Your first session at CDOTC Sports Massage Therapy is relaxed, informal and tailored to you. Every treatment is individual and designed around your needs and goals.
Your appointment will include:
• Time to discuss what's been going on and what you'd like help with.
• Relevant mobility and movement assessments.
• A Sports Massage treatment tailored to your individual needs.
• Aftercare advice and recommendations to help you get the most from your treatment.
Sports Massage Therapy isn't just for runners and athletes either. Whether you're training for your next race, spending your day at a desk or simply feeling tight, stiff and achy, treatment can be tailored to you.
Most importantly, I want every client to feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the door. My aim is for every client to leave feeling comfortable, listened to and looking forward to their next visit.
Questions before booking? Feel free to send me a message. I'd much rather answer a question than have someone put off booking because they're feeling unsure.

Why Sports Massage?
Just over a year ago, I started my running journey.
Since then, I've experienced the highs of achieving goals, the frustrations of niggling aches and pains, and the importance of making time for recovery.
Becoming a Sports Massage Therapist has been a goal of mine for many years, and I'm incredibly grateful to finally be doing something I'm passionate about.
Running has reminded me that our bodies work hard for us every day. Whether that's training for an event, spending long days at work or simply keeping active, looking after yourself matters.
Recovery isn't something we have to earn – it's part of staying healthy, moving well and continuing to do the things we enjoy.
Whatever your goals may be, don't forget to make time for yourself this week.
Cheryl 💙
