Aesthetics Journal Case Study

We are delighted to share a newly published case study in the Aesthetics Journal (June 2026) by Dr Helen Whyte, exploring the management of facial burns using hypochlorous acid (HOCl).

The article, "Treating Facial Burns with Hypochlorous Acid", highlights the critical importance of early intervention in burn care and discusses how controlling inflammation can significantly influence long-term outcomes, including pigmentation changes and scarring.

The case study follows a 32-year-old patient who sustained a partial-thickness facial burn and began using HYPO21 Skin Spray within 72 hours of injury. Dr Whyte incorporated HYPO21 into the patient's recovery protocol due to its pure hypochlorous acid composition and gentle anti-inflammatory properties.

Key Findings:

✔ Reduced redness and inflammation within the first week
✔ Improved patient comfort with no reported irritation
✔ No evidence of scarring or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation at follow-up
✔ Excellent cosmetic outcome when combined with appropriate wound management

As Dr Whyte notes, early management of inflammation is crucial:

"Minimising inflammation soon after injury reduces melanocyte hyperactivity and prevents excessive fibroblast stimulation."

The article reinforces the growing body of evidence supporting hypochlorous acid as an important adjunct in skin recovery, helping to support the skin's natural healing processes while maintaining barrier function.

For HYPO21, this case further demonstrates the potential benefits of incorporating a medically registered hypochlorous solution into post-trauma and post-procedure protocols where inflammation management is paramount.

We are incredibly proud to see HYPO21 featured in this important clinical discussion and thank Dr Helen Whyte for sharing her experience and expertise. Not all HOCl products created equal.
