A little reminder of why small businesses have cancellation and no-show policies.❤️

I don’t normally share things like this, but something happened recently that I think is worth talking about.

A client who had previously given my business a 5⭐ review changed that rating to 3⭐ after I enforced my no-show policy.

This wasn’t after one missed appointment. There had already been two previous occasions when the client didn’t attend and didn’t let me know at all. On both occasions, I absorbed the loss and didn’t charge the full appointment fee.

When it happened for a third time, I finally applied my cancellation/no-show policy and charged for the missed appointment- a policy that is provided in the booking confirmation.

Shortly afterwards, my original 5⭐ rating was changed to 3⭐.

And yes, as a small business owner, that stings.

When somebody doesn’t turn up and doesn’t let me know, that appointment isn’t simply an empty hour in my diary. I’ve travelled to the salon, prepared for the treatment, reserved that time exclusively for that person, and usually have no opportunity to offer it to somebody else at such short notice.

My policies aren’t there to punish anyone. I completely understand that emergencies and unexpected situations happen. They’re there because my time and my livelihood need protecting too.

I will always try to be understanding and flexible where I reasonably can, but being kind and understanding doesn’t mean that I can continually absorb the financial cost of missed appointments.

So to every client who arrives for their appointment, gives me notice when plans change, respects my policies and supports my little business- thank you.❤️

Those circles aren’t bruises — they’re part of the treatment. 👀

If you’ve never experienced cupping before, seeing the cups- and the marks they can leave behind- can look a little surprising!

This is static cupping, one of the techniques I use within my Aroma Tension Release Cupping Ritual. The cups create suction, gently lifting the skin and underlying tissues rather than applying downward pressure like a traditional massage.

I combine moving and static cupping with aromatherapy massage techniques, focusing particularly on areas where you may be holding muscular tension- especially the back, shoulders and neck.

And yes… those perfectly round marks can happen!🙂 They can vary from light pink to darker red/purple depending on the individual and the level of suction, and they normally fade gradually afterwards.

Cupping isn’t about creating the darkest marks possible- more suction does not automatically mean a better treatment. I adapt the treatment and intensity to the individual client.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage using the Vodder Method is a gentle, specialised treatment using slow, light, rhythmic and precise movements designed to support the natural movement of lymphatic fluid.

This is very different from my Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage & Wood Therapy treatments — there is no Wood Therapy, cupping, deep pressure or vigorous sculpting involved.

A consultation form will need to be completed beforehand to make sure MLD is suitable for you.

And one of the most important things I want clients to understand is that MLD and my Brazilian lymphatic sculpting treatments are very different experiences.

Vodder MLD uses exceptionally light, slow, rhythmic and precise movements, following the natural pathways of the lymphatic system.
