I really needed this reminder when I was starting out 🥹

In 2019, I had around 100 followers, my page was called emsfxmakeup, and honestly… I had absolutely no idea where this little hobby was going to take me.

I didn’t have the perfect branding or any branding for that matter, I didn’t have the consistent content, I didnt have thousands of followers, I didn’t even really know what I was doing I was just 14😭

I just made it exist first.

And then I made it ‘good’ after.

I experimented. I changed my style. I rebranded. I tried things that flopped. I made things I look back at now and think “oh girl…”💀 I learnt, improved, pivoted and kept showing up.

And somehow that little 100 follower account became Doll Em Up… and now we’re celebrating 36,000 of you!?🥹🎀

So if you’re waiting until your branding is ‘perfect’, your content is perfect, your feed is perfect or you feel “ready” enough to start…

MAKE IT EXIST FIRST.

BUTTT behind Doll Em Up is just a girl who used to collect snails in her pockets, is fascinated by anything weird and gross, watches animal documentaries any chance she gets, has loved creating since she could hold a pencil, and somehow ended up turning that creativity into a job!?🥹

there’s a lot about me that people don’t see online, so I thought it was about time I shared a few things that have shaped who I am today (the wholesome, the weird and the lowkey vulnerable💀).

To every single client who’s sat through my random facts about parasites, listened to me ramble about my latest hyperfixation, or just accepted my weird little antics without judgement… thank you🤭 You have no idea how much you’ve helped bring me out of my shell over the years.

It’s honestly crazy how every photographer brings their own creativity, editing style and vision to the table. The same image can tell a completely different story depending on who’s behind the screen, and I think that’s what makes photography such a fun and incredible art form!!
