This weekend just gone I had the pleasure of sharing a wedding morning with a close friend and incredibly talented makeup artist. Having the opportunity to work alongside someone whose work I respect so much made the day even more special.

Weddings are always a team effort, and there’s something really lovely about supporting each other, sharing ideas, and helping create a calm, enjoyable experience for our bridal parties.

Let’s take a closer look … We kept the skin soft but still with enough coverage to feel flawless and photograph beautifully throughout the day. The focus was really on the eyes - softly defined, slightly more depth, and just enough structure to add impact without feeling heavy.

This kind of balance is key. Skin that looks like skin, paired with eyes that hold their shape in different lighting, from ceremony to evening.

Matte vs dewy… let’s talk about it.

Two beautiful brides, two different skin finishes — and honestly, this is where makeup gets really personal.

On one side, we’ve got a soft matte base: polished, shine-free, and perfect if you love a more refined, long-lasting finish.

On the other, a light, dewy “your skin but better” look: fresh, radiant, and glowing in all the right places — ideal if you want that effortless, lit-from-within vibe.

Neither is better — it’s all about what feels like you.

When I’m working with brides, this is always part of the consultation. Your skin type, your style, your dress, even your venue … it all plays a part in choosing the right finish.
