🤠 The Three Amigos of Strength
Why One Type of Strength Isn't Enough
When most people hear the word "strength," they immediately think about lifting the heaviest weight possible. But true strength is much broader than that.
There are three main types of strength, and each plays a different role in helping you live a healthier, more capable life.
💥 Explosive Strength is your ability to produce force quickly. It's what helps you jump, sprint, catch yourself if you trip, change direction, or react quickly. As we get older, maintaining power becomes increasingly important because it can help prevent falls and keep us moving confidently.
🏋️ Maximum Strength is the greatest amount of force your muscles can produce. Building this makes everyday tasks easier, from lifting heavy shopping bags to moving furniture or picking up grandchildren. It also provides the foundation for every other type of strength.
🔥 Strength Endurance is your ability to keep producing force repeatedly without your muscles giving up. This is what allows you to walk further, carry luggage, complete a long hike, finish a demanding workout, or tackle events like HYROX.
Think of it like this:
Maximum Strength builds the size of your engine.
Explosive Strength teaches you to use that engine quickly.
Strength Endurance determines how long that engine keeps running.
Neglect one, and you'll eventually find a weakness.
A well-rounded training programme develops all three, giving you the strength to move well, the power to react quickly, and the endurance to keep going. That's what real functional fitness looks like.
So ask yourself...
Which of your Three Amigos has been left behind?
Until we meet again...
Top-Tier Training.
Standards are high here... and that's the point.

This is actually a very well-balanced meal overall. It looks like a meal designed to keep you full, support muscle maintenance, and provide sustained energy rather than just being low calorie.
Overall rating: 9/10 ⭐
🥩 Protein (9.5/10)
Approximately one chicken breast (around 35–45 g protein)
One boiled egg (around 6–7 g protein)
That's roughly 40–50 g of high-quality protein, which is an excellent amount for one meal and ideal for muscle maintenance and recovery.
🥔 Carbohydrates (8.5/10) You have several slow-digesting carbohydrate sources:
Jacket potato
Couscous
Vegetables
This combination provides plenty of energy, fibre and helps replenish glycogen stores after training.
🥗 Vegetables & Micronutrients (10/10) A great variety:
Mixed leaves
Watercress
Cucumber
Tomato
Red pepper
Edamame beans
Red cabbage (in the coleslaw)
Lots of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre. Your plate has excellent colour diversity.
🥑 Fats (8/10) The fats mainly come from:
Butter
Mayonnaise
Coleslaw dressing
Egg yolk
These will make the meal very satisfying and slow digestion. The only downside is they also increase the calorie content quite quickly.
Estimated nutrition
Calories: ~850–1,050 kcal
Protein: 40–50 g
Carbohydrates: 55–70 g
Fat: 35–50 g
Fibre: High (around 10–15 g)
What could be improved?
If your goal is fat loss, I'd probably change just one thing:
Choose either the butter or the mayonnaise/coleslaw rather than having all three together. That could save 150–250 kcal while keeping the meal almost as satisfying.
If your goal is muscle gain, maintenance, or simply eating a balanced diet, I'd leave it almost exactly as it is. Those extra fats aren't a problem as long as they fit into your overall daily calorie intake.
Final thoughts
This is a meal that ticks nearly every box:
✅ High-quality protein
✅ Slow-release carbohydrates
✅ Plenty of vegetables
✅ Good fibre intake
✅ Healthy balance of macronutrients
✅ Very filling
The only thing to keep an eye on is the amount of butter, mayonnaise and creamy coleslaw together, because that's where most of the extra calories are coming from—not because they're "bad," but because fats are very energy-dense.
For someone training regularly and wanting to stay healthy, I'd happily recommend a meal like this. It's a strong example of how a plate can support both performance and long-term health.

THE GYM...
🍳 Breakfast Breakdown: Is This a Good Meal for Fat Loss & Muscle Building?
There's a lot of confusion around what makes a "healthy" breakfast. We often hear that eggs are bad, bacon should be avoided, carbohydrates are the enemy, or fat should be cut out completely.
The truth is far less dramatic.
Today's breakfast was made from simple, everyday ingredients:
🥚 3 Eggs
🥓 3 Rashers of Bacon
🍞 1 Slice of Multigrain Bread
🌽 Leftover Peas & Sweetcorn
📊 Estimated Nutrition
🔥 Calories: 540–610 kcal
💪 Protein: 43–46 g
🍞 Carbohydrates: 27–30 g
🥑 Fat: 28–35 g
🌾 Fibre: 5–7 g
💪 Overall Nutritional Assessment
Muscle Building: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (9.5/10)
Fat Loss: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (9/10)
General Health: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (9/10)
This is what I'd call a high-value meal. It isn't fancy, expensive or packed with supplements—it simply provides your body with what it needs.
One of the biggest positives is the protein. With over 40 g of complete protein, this meal provides all of the essential amino acids needed to support muscle repair, recovery and growth. It also helps preserve muscle while losing body fat, something many people overlook.
The eggs contribute more than just protein. They provide healthy fats, choline for brain function, vitamin D, vitamin B12, selenium and other important micronutrients.
The multigrain bread provides slow-release carbohydrates and fibre to support energy levels and digestive health.
The peas and sweetcorn add colour to the plate, along with extra fibre, vitamins, minerals and plant compounds that support overall health.
Another major advantage is satiety.
High-protein meals are generally far more filling than highly processed, sugary breakfasts. Staying fuller for longer often means fewer cravings, less snacking and better calorie control throughout the day.
This is why nutrition isn't just about counting calories. It's about eating foods that nourish you, satisfy you and are realistic enough to become long-term habits.
🤔 "But what about the saturated fat?"
This is probably the first question many people will ask.
This breakfast contains approximately 9–13 g of saturated fat, mainly from the eggs and bacon.
Does that automatically make it unhealthy?
No.
As a standalone meal, this is a nutritious, high-protein breakfast that provides quality protein, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, fibre and sustained energy. For an active person, enjoying a breakfast like this once, or even twice a week, can fit perfectly well into a balanced diet.
The issue isn't this meal.
The issue is when it becomes every day.
Eating bacon and other processed meats daily isn't something I'd recommend. Processed meats tend to be higher in salt and saturated fat, and regularly eating large amounts has been linked with poorer long-term health outcomes.
That's where context becomes important.
Nutrition is rarely about one food, one nutrient or one meal. It's about the overall pattern of how you eat over weeks, months and years.
Everything in nutrition comes down to dose.
Too little protein isn't ideal.
Too much sugar isn't ideal.
Too much alcohol isn't ideal.
Too much saturated fat isn't ideal.
Even too much water can be harmful.
It's not about fear—it's about balance.
If your diet is built around lean proteins, plenty of vegetables and fruit, wholegrains, beans, healthy fats and regular exercise, then having a breakfast like this from time to time is unlikely to be a problem for most healthy people.
Instead of asking:
"Is this food healthy?"
Try asking:
"How does this meal fit into my overall week of eating?"
That question is far more useful.
One meal won't make you healthy.
One meal won't make you unhealthy.
Your body responds to what you do consistently, not occasionally.
So rather than chasing perfection, aim for balance, enjoy your food, and build habits you can maintain for life.
💬 Would you eat this breakfast? What's the first thing you notice—the protein, the bacon, or the saturated fat? Let me know your thoughts below. Let's have a discussion based on evidence, not headlines. 💪🥚🥓

The Perfect Physique? It Doesn't Exist.
We live in a world where we're constantly surrounded by images of "perfect" bodies.
Scroll through social media, watch a superhero film, open a fitness magazine or browse online, and it's easy to believe that's how people look all the time.
The reality is very different.
Many actors, athletes and fitness models are paid to look that way. Their physique is often part of their job. They may spend months following strict nutrition plans, training multiple times a day, prioritising sleep and recovery, working with coaches, photographers and makeup artists, and even timing food and water intake to achieve a particular look.
And even then, that physique may only be maintained for a very short period—sometimes just long enough for a photo shoot, a film scene or a competition.
Once filming or the shoot is over, many return to a much more sustainable physique.
Yet every day, ordinary people compare themselves to these carefully prepared moments.
That's like comparing your everyday life to someone else's greatest highlight.
At On Fire Fitness, we believe your body should be judged by what it can do, not just how it looks.
Can it help you play with your children or grandchildren? Can it carry your shopping? Can it climb stairs without leaving you breathless? Can it help you enjoy holidays, hobbies and everyday life? Can it keep you healthy and independent as you get older?
Those things matter far more than chasing an impossible standard.
Your goal doesn't have to be perfection.
It should be becoming a little stronger... A little fitter... A little healthier... And a little more confident than you were yesterday.
Because the strongest, healthiest version of you will always be better than trying to become someone else.
🔥 Train for life, not likes.

🚨 FACTBUSTERS – CASE FILE #002: THE DAD BOD 🚨
"I've got a dad bod... it's just part of getting older."
We've all heard it. Some of us have probably even said it.
But let's investigate the facts.
First, let's be clear: having a "dad bod" doesn't make you a bad person, lazy, or unhealthy. There are plenty of men carrying a little extra body fat who are active, strong and in good health. Equally, there are people who look slim on the outside but have poor fitness, low muscle mass and unhealthy lifestyle habits.
The real question isn't...
"Do you have a dad bod?"
It's...
"Is your body allowing you to live the life you want?"
Can you carry the shopping without struggling? Can you play with your children or grandchildren? Can you get up from the floor easily? Can you climb the stairs without losing your breath? Can you enjoy a holiday without your fitness holding you back?
That's what really matters.
One of the biggest myths is that once you reach your 40s or 50s, it's too late to change.
It isn't.
Yes, your body changes with age. Your metabolism may slow slightly, recovery takes longer, hormones change, work becomes busier and family life becomes more demanding.
But none of those things stop you from improving.
You can still:
Build muscle.
Lose body fat.
Improve your heart health.
Increase your strength.
Improve your balance and mobility.
Reduce your risk of many long-term health conditions.
Feel more confident in yourself.
The goal was never to look like a fitness model.
Very few people stay photo-shoot lean all year round, and comparing yourself to those images often does more harm than good.
Instead, aim to become stronger than you were last month. Healthier than you were last year. More capable than you thought possible.
Small, consistent actions make the biggest difference.
Walk more.
Lift some weights.
Eat enough protein.
Sleep better.
Drink more water.
Move your body every day.
You don't have to be perfect. You just have to start.
👨🚒 FACTBUSTERS VERDICT
❌ Myth: "Once you've got a dad bod, that's just how life is."
✅ Truth: Your age doesn't define your future. Your daily habits do.
It doesn't matter whether you're 35, 45, 55 or 65.

The Perfect Physique... Is It Really for Everyone?
Open Instagram, Facebook or pick up a fitness magazine and you'll see it everywhere.
The ripped actor. The toned superhero. The fitness influencer. The magazine cover model with the "perfect" body.
It's easy to believe that's what we should all be aiming for.
But let's be honest...
Most people don't need that physique.
And most people don't actually want the lifestyle that comes with it.
The people you admire have often spent years building their bodies. Many are paid to look the way they do. Their appearance is part of their career.
They have personal trainers, nutritionists, chefs, physiotherapists, photographers and production teams. Their training, nutrition and recovery aren't hobbies—they're part of their job.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Some people genuinely have the dedication, discipline and grit to build an exceptional physique. They love the challenge and are prepared to make the sacrifices. If that's your goal, then go for it—we'll be the first to support you.
But before comparing yourself to them, ask one simple question...
"Am I willing to live the lifestyle it takes to achieve and maintain that physique?"
Because that's the real challenge.
What You See Isn't Reality
There's something else that often gets forgotten...
The physiques you see in films, on television, in glossy magazines and all over social media are usually shown at their absolute best.
Actors prepare for months for a single film role.
Fitness models diet for weeks before a photoshoot.
Competitive athletes peak for competitions.
Some even manipulate their training, carbohydrate intake and hydration before they're photographed to look as lean and defined as possible.
That physique may only exist for a short period of time.
Very few people stay in peak condition all year round.
So don't compare your everyday body to someone else's best day.
Stop Comparing Yourself
One of the most damaging things we can do is compare ourselves to elite physiques.
Not because they're impossible...
But because they often require an extraordinary level of commitment that most people neither want nor need.
For many people, trying to look like an action hero, fitness model or elite athlete simply isn't realistic or sustainable.
Constantly comparing yourself to those standards can make you feel as though you're failing—even when you're making fantastic progress.
That's not healthy.
Don't compare your real life to someone else's profession.
What Success Really Looks Like
For the average gym-goer, life looks very different.
You have work.
You have family.
You have children or grandchildren.
You enjoy holidays.
You like meals out.
You have responsibilities outside the gym.
That doesn't make you less committed.
It makes you normal.
Success doesn't have to mean perfection.
For most people, success looks something like this...
✅ Lose a little body fat.
✅ Build or maintain a little muscle.
✅ Become stronger.
✅ Move more freely.
✅ Improve your mobility.
✅ Increase your fitness.
✅ Have more energy.
✅ Sleep better.
✅ Feel healthier.
✅ Feel more confident in your own skin.
Those aren't small achievements.
They're life-changing.
Body Composition Matters
This is where body composition becomes far more important than chasing the "perfect" physique.
Body composition is the balance between your muscle and your body fat.
It's not about becoming the leanest person in the room.
It's about improving your health, strength and physical ability in a way that's realistic and sustainable.
A little more muscle.
A little less body fat.
A healthier body.
A stronger body.
A more capable body.
That's a goal most people can achieve.
There Is No Perfect Physique
Here's something else to remember...
Beauty is subjective.
What one person finds attractive, another person doesn't.
Some people love an athletic physique.
Some prefer a softer look.
Some admire strength.
Others value confidence, personality, kindness and character far more than appearance.
There has never been one body type that everyone finds attractive.
Build the body that suits your life.
Not someone else's.
The strongest version of you may not look like Leonidas.
The healthiest version of you may not look like Wonder Woman.
And that's absolutely okay.
Our Message
At OnFire Fitness, we don't believe fitness should take over your life.
We believe it should improve it.
For most people, becoming a little stronger, a little leaner, a little fitter and a little healthier every year is enough to transform their quality of life.
Don't compare yourself to the actor.
Don't compare yourself to the influencer.
Don't compare yourself to the magazine cover.
Compare yourself to the person you were six months ago.
Are you stronger?
Healthier?
More mobile?
More confident?
If the answer is yes...
You're already succeeding.
Because the perfect physique doesn't exist.
Your best physique does.
And that's the one worth chasing.

Overall Rating: 9/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🥩 Protein
Three chicken thighs provide roughly 60–70 g of protein, which is excellent for muscle repair, growth and keeping you full.
Chicken thighs contain a little more fat than breast, but they also have more flavour and are still a great protein source.
Leaving the skin on adds extra calories and saturated fat, but if it fits within your daily intake, there's nothing wrong with it.
🥗 Vegetables & Micronutrients
You've got a fantastic variety:
Rocket and mixed leaves – vitamins A, C and K.
Cucumber – hydration.
Tomatoes – vitamin C and lycopene.
Carrot – beta-carotene (vitamin A).
Celery – fibre and potassium.
Avocado – healthy monounsaturated fats, potassium and fibre.
A plate with this many colours usually means a broad range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
🌾 Carbohydrates
Couscous provides easily digestible carbohydrates to replenish muscle glycogen after training.
The portion looks sensible—enough to fuel recovery without dominating the plate.
🫒 Healthy Fats
Avocado
Olive oil
Green pesto
These provide healthy unsaturated fats that support hormone production, joint health and help absorb fat-soluble vitamins.
🌿 Fibre
Between the salad, avocado, vegetables and couscous, you're getting a good amount of fibre, which supports:
Digestion
Gut health
Blood sugar control
Feeling fuller for longer
Things I'd Consider
If fat loss is your main goal:
Either remove the chicken skin or reduce the olive oil slightly. You probably don't need both every meal.
Everything else I'd happily keep.
If you've trained hard today, this meal is almost spot on for recovery.
Estimated Nutrition
Calories: 850–1,000 kcal
Protein: 60–70 g
Carbohydrates: 35–45 g
Fat: 45–55 g
Fibre: 10–15 g
Real food. Real fuel. 💪🥗
Tonight's dinner is a great example of keeping things simple: 🥩 Roast chicken for high-quality protein. 🥗 A colourful mix of seasonal salad and vegetables for vitamins, minerals and fibre. 🥑 Avocado, pesto and olive oil for healthy fats. 🌾 Couscous to refuel and recover.
No fancy diets. No expensive supplements. Just good-quality food that supports training, recovery and long-term health.
Could it be leaner? Of course—removing the chicken skin or reducing the oil would lower the calories if fat loss is the priority. But overall, this is a balanced meal packed with nutrition.
Eat food that works as hard as you do. 💥

Indiana Norris and the Holy Grail of Health
Everyone is searching for the Holy Grail of fitness.
The miracle fat burner.
The wrinkle cream.
The "ancient secret" from the Amazon rainforest.
The latest superfood.
The magic supplement.
It's not hiding at the bottom of your protein shake.
It isn't bottled snake oil from the depths of the Amazon rainforest.
And it's definitely not unicorn p*e.
The truth?
The Holy Grail of Health isn't something you find. It's something you build.
Every workout.
Every healthy meal.
Every walk with the dog.
Every good night's sleep.
Every time you choose discipline over excuses.
Those small choices, repeated over months and years, become the body and mind you have today.
And the choices you make today will shape who you become in ten or twenty years' time.
There are no secret maps.
No magical shortcuts.
Just consistency.
Because the greatest treasure you'll ever possess isn't hidden in an ancient temple...
It's your health.
Build it one choice at a time.
