Brown, But Better
The Brown But Better Podcast
Clowns will keep on clowning.
Guys, avoid these lot like the plague that they are. It might start of light and you may agree with some o what they say but eventually their mask slips. And from there they'll end up having you hating women or blaming them for all of your issues 🙄
All it takes is to watch a few videos from these guys to find out that there's no depth to the information these people spout.
They'll have you looking at surface level things which then prevents you from having an actually deep connection with what is just another human being, going through life like you.
This one is so difficult and tbh, I still mess this one up all the time. But hey, we life and we learn.
Often times we skirt around the issue or don't bring it up for fear of conflict but most of the time it never goes as bad as we think it will.
So if there's a conversation that you know you should have, this is the nudge. Go have it, and use a soft opener (ie don't go guns blazing!)
I'm genuinely so disappointed in those content creators who say these kinds of things because what they probably don't realise, is that they're saying the same thing as the red pill Bros saying "All women are like that"....
Two sides of the same coin.
Guys! (and Ladies) learn your mother tongue! Generations of people existed so you could be here and were slowly losing that connection primarily through language!
Also, the point I forgot to mention, I've seen so many videos of non-native language speakers speaking those languages - like I've seen a Korean lady speaking Punjabi, a Chinese lady speaking Hindi.... It's inspirational and I wish I could speak as well as them!
Genuinely, so simple but all it takes is a bit of memory, and the key part is action!
It's the little things that can often mean a lot and we have such busy lives these days that it's easy to miss these things. By making small notes on a regular basis, you can show up better for your partner. Because that's what being a Brown But Better partner, is all about.
No one can say their community is perfect. There's literally good and bad people in all of them and annoyingly, a lot of the bad ones are targeting women. That's where we as Brown but Better guys step in and challenge this.
So much to say but so little time here!
Will add a full video reflection afterwards as well as more of those lessons learnt in upcoming videos...
If more of us challenge it, then the pyramid of violence against women and girls crumbles.
Have that moral courage and do the right thing. It's not easy especially when it's families, friends, or colleagues making these comments but all it takes for bad people to win is for good people to do nothing.
Just did an epaidoe about this today (link in the bio) talking about some of the stats around p**n and some of the concerning issues around the normalisation of p**n in today's society.
As ever, trying to chat about these things in Brown households is basically a no go but that's what I'm trying to change at least a little through these videos!

This is why it's so important to read and understand history. Screw your masculinity because it's just social construct. Live life through your values.
Think about it, who decided what masculinity is? Where do we in the diaspora get our ideas of what "a real man" should be like? Who's views shape the entire world because of the hegemony they've had over the world for the last 100 years..... (America).
Of course they're going to frame masculinity in certain ways that benefit them and emasculate men of other heritage in their media.
