This is little Nicky….if I knew then what I know now then there are things I would have done differently, protected myself from.
This post is a little different than my usual but we all need to be aware of what mental health is and what it can do to a person. I’ve had to take a little time off work this week, I didn’t want to but I HAD TO! I’ve been spreading myself very thin for months now, trying to be a the best mum, the best friend, the best wife , sister & daughter but I’m not being the best for myself. I hit burnout in a big way. Hand in hand with that comes the anxiety, the depression the feelings of failure and not being good enough. The medication stops working, you start to neglect yourself which in turn makes you feel worse and you end up just wanting to shut the world out. You want your brain to stop talking to you, stop judging you and stop reliving past traumas but it won’t! This is just the tip of the iceberg of some of the feelings I experience (I can’t speak for everyone who goes through similar) but, the moral to this story is to just be nice to people, if I’ve had to cancel your appointment this week I truly apologise but at the end of the day I have to take a look back sometimes and think right I need to do this for my sanity. Some of you may read all of this and never even have know that I struggle occasionally, depression doesn’t look like anything in particular, some people are good at wearing a mask…so please be kind 🤍
