Alex “Muddy” Cuffie Takes Grenada’s Soca Sound to Trinidad Carnival

Grenadian soca star Alex “Muddy” Cuffie is making his presence felt in Trinidad and Tobago, as he continues to push Grenada’s sound onto the region’s biggest Carnival stage.

The 2025 Grenada Soca Monarch and People’s Choice winner has been in Trinidad over the past week, doing the rounds on radio and television as he officially plants his flag ahead of Trinidad Carnival 2026.

Muddy says the moment represents a full-circle journey — from once quietly observing the Trinidad Carnival scene to now being in demand, engaging media houses, and introducing audiences to Grenada’s Jab-inspired energy through his breakout hit “Payroll.”

The song continues to gain traction across the region, helping to open doors for Grenadian soca on larger fete stages and Carnival platforms. The momentum has also been boosted by recent international attention, including a mention by Rolling Stone, but Muddy’s main focus remains building real connections on the ground in Trinidad.

Now signed to DSM Music Group, Muddy is positioning himself for a strong Carnival season, confident that Grenada’s sound belongs in the wider regional spotlight.
