Menopause changes everything. Not just how skin looks, but how a woman feels in her body, her energy levels, and her confidence.

At Guernsey Medispa, we take a clinical, whole-woman approach to these changes. Our team is trained in the science of perimenopause and menopause, and we regularly attend leading industry events like Menopause in Aesthetics UK to stay ahead of the curve.

This isn’t about “anti-ageing.” It’s about evidence-based care for women navigating a complex, often overlooked stage of life.

We understand how:

💎 Hormones affect skin texture, laxity and glow

💎 Fat distribution and muscle tone shift, regardless of lifestyle

💎 Treatments like Emsella and medical grade skincare can support genuine, lasting restoration.

Menopause is not something to hide or rush through. It deserves expert support and thoughtful solutions that address the full picture and not just the surface.

We’re here to offer exactly that.

If you would like to find out what a personalised plan at Guernsey Medispa could look like for you, simply DM us the word SKIN, and we will get you booked in for a complimentary getting to know you consultation.

What is the one thing you stopped doing in your forties that made the biggest difference to how you feel?

I will go first: I stopped overriding my body's signals.

That meant:
✖️ No more fasting when I was clearly exhausted
✖️ No more saying yes when I needed stillness
✖️ No more aggressive workouts that left me wired

Instead I chose nourishment, rhythm and proper rest and honestly, it transformed everything, including how I look and how I feel in my own skin.

The shift was not about doing more. It was about finally listening to what my body was actually asking for, which is something I think so many of us in perimenopause and menopause find genuinely difficult after years of just getting on with it regardless.

Now I would love to hear from you. What is the one thing you stopped doing in your forties that changed everything? Tell me in the comments because I have a feeling this is going to be a wonderful conversation 😁

Can I reframe something that has been sold to women for decades?

Ageing gracefully does not mean staying quiet about what is happening to your body. It does not mean pretending nothing has changed or simply accepting every change as something you have to put up with. And it certainly does not mean giving up on yourself.

Ageing well is active. It is intentional. It is something you choose.

The women I work with at Guernsey Medispa are mostly in their forties, fifties and sixties, and they are not here looking for a quick fix.

They are here because they want a long term strategy for feeling well, looking like themselves and investing in the future version of who they are becoming.

We talk about

✨ Preserving collagen

✨ Regenerating the skin

✨ Supporting hormonal balance

✨ Sculpting the body without surgery

✨ Longevity through consistent care

Because true beauty at this stage in your life isn’t about chasing the way you looked at thirty five. You’ve earned the right to feel powerful in your own skin, and to choose treatments that support that, intelligently and confidently.

Hi I’m Bronwen 👋

I’m the founder of Guernsey Medispa, and I built our clinic because I couldn’t find what I needed when my own body started changing.

After 15 years in medical aesthetics, I know what works. But it was my own experience of menopause that showed me what was missing - a clinic that actually listens, builds a plan around you, and helps you feel like yourself again.

I’m here to help women over 45 navigate what’s happening to their body and their skin, with honesty, evidence, and zero quick fixes.

This is the place I wish had existed for me.

When women come to me asking why their skin has changed so suddenly, why it looks duller, more reactive or less firm than it used to, we do not just talk about products.

We talk about inflammation.

Chronic low grade inflammation is one of the biggest drivers of skin ageing, and it is something that most women have never been told about. It breaks down collagen, disrupts the skin barrier and accelerates pigmentation and loss of firmness often in ways that no serum or moisturiser is ever going to be able to address on its own.

It can be triggered by so many things we would not necessarily connect to our skin. Stress, blood sugar instability, gut health imbalances, poor sleep, environmental factors and sometimes even habits we think of as healthy but that do not suit our skin at all.

At Guernsey Medispa we do not just treat what we can see on the surface. We look at the internal contributors to skin ageing and build a plan that supports skin health from every angle, bringing together the right skincare, nutritional guidance, regenerative treatments and more.

If your skin has suddenly started to feel different and you cannot quite put your finger on why, that is not vanity. That is your body asking you to pay attention.

A ‘Getting to know you’ consultation at Guernsey Medispa is completely free and entirely about you. It is the best place to start.

Women are extraordinary at looking after everyone around them. We are considerably less good at looking after ourselves, and it took me until sixty to truly change that.

I spent years making packed lunches, doing endless loads of washing, running a business and ferrying children from one activity to another, always convinced there was something more important to do than taking half an hour for myself. Then before you know it, the children have grown up and moved on, and somewhere in the middle of all of it, you realise you have been last on your own list for a very long time.

I see this every single week in the women who come through our door, and I recognise it completely because I lived it myself too.

The changes you have been noticing in your skin, your energy, your confidence and your body, the ones you have been managing and pushing to the back of your mind whilst you got on with everything else, they deserve proper attention. Not because of how you look, but because of how you feel, and how much better you could feel with the right support.

A ‘Getting to know you’ consultation at Guernsey Medispa is a free and entirely private hour that is wholly about you. What has changed, what you are finding difficult and what we can do together to help you feel like yourself again.

If you have been putting it off because life keeps getting in the way, perhaps this is your sign.

DM us the word SKIN and we will get you booked in. The washing can wait, because you matter too. 😊

Summers at L'Ancresse, Herm and Vazon with my cousin Sarah and our radio, absolutely determined to find every bit of sunshine going. I genuinely believed that if I stayed out long enough a lovely tan would eventually appear. What I did not realise was that my skin was not tanning at all. It was defending itself against damage.

Fast forward a few decades and at sixty my skin reacts very differently to the sun than it once did. Little red spots appear, pigmentation pops up from nowhere and it feels harder and drier after too much exposure.

After menopause, collagen production declines more rapidly, skin becomes thinner and slower to repair itself and the same sunshine we coped with in our thirties can suddenly leave its mark. Ultraviolet exposure also activates enzymes I think of as little Pac-Man chompers whose job is to break down old collagen. Too much sun makes them overactive, and they start chewing through the healthy collagen as well.

Considering women can lose up to thirty per cent of their collagen in the first few years after menopause, I would very much like to hang on to what I have left!

Even knowing all of this, I still get caught out. Last year my daughter Ella and I convinced ourselves that another half an hour at the bathing pools would not hurt. We were very wrong, and spent the following week under the Dermalux machine with a high quality Vitamin C serum trying to undo the damage that is making our skin age more quickly. Prevention really is always considerably easier than treatment.

The best anti-ageing product I know is not a treatment, an injectable or a cream. It is a good broad spectrum mineral sunscreen worn every single day, all year round.

At Guernsey Medispa we recommend the iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50, which has just two active ingredients and nothing unnecessary alongside them. For skin that is already thinner, more reactive and more vulnerable to pigmentation after menopause, simple and clean really is the way to go.

DM us the word SKIN and we can get you booked in for a ‘Getting to Know You’ consultation to give you more information about the skincare we recommend for menopausal skin.

Ladies over 45, who can relate? 🥂

The other week we had family here and had a lovely two course dinner. Before we sat down we added in two glasses of ch*****ne, which I would not ordinarily consider very much at all. We had a wonderful meal, I drank plenty of water alongside it, came home, made myself a camomile tea and had an early night.

Monday morning dawned and I woke up feeling really drained and sluggish, and not remotely interested in doing anything taxing. I would have quite happily gone back to sleep.

And all of that was from two glasses of ch*****ne 😮

Genuinely, I do not consider two glasses a lot, but clearly my body does. I was overheating in the night, up for a couple of trips to the loo from all the water I had drunk, and I really did not perform at my best the following day.

So the lesson for me is that alcohol and I need to part ways, because my body simply cannot handle it anymore.

Now, I am absolutely the last person who would lecture anyone about enjoying a glass of w**e, but I suspect some of you may have had exactly the same experience and are wondering what on earth is going on.

During perimenopause and menopause, your liver processes alcohol more slowly than it used to. Oestrogen decline affects the enzymes responsible for breaking it down, meaning the same amount you have always enjoyed now hits you quite differently and stays in your system considerably longer than it once did. It also raises your core body temperature, disrupts your deep sleep and dehydrates you in ways that compound everything you are already managing.

It is not about the amount you used to manage. It is about the body you are managing it with now, and that body has changed in ways that nobody particularly warned us about.

If this resonates with you, I would genuinely love to hear about it in the comments below. And if you would like to talk about how we can support you through your perimenopause and menopause journey, simply DM us the word MEDISPA and we will come straight back to you.

Another heatwave is incoming, Guernsey 🌞! So let's talk SPF. Specifically, which one is actually going to stop you turning into a red beacon by lunchtime 🚨

I got a text from a friend earlier this week asking which suncream was better - the £18 bottle of suncream or a £6 one?

And my answer? Well what ingredients are in them?

The brand name on the front of your SPF and the word "dermatologic" printed across the label tells you absolutely nothing about what's actually in it.

So I showed her the back of my SPF bottle.

Two ingredients. That's it!

Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. Pure mineral physical filters that sit on top of your skin and block UV rather than absorbing into it and converting it to heat. No alcohol. No fragrance. No long list of chemical filters you can't pronounce.

Then I showed her the La Roche-Posay. Expensive. Trusted. "Laboratoire Dermatologique" on the label. Sounds clinical. Flip it over and the second ingredient after water is Alcohol Denat. With fragrance and a wall of chemical UV filters behind it.

For menopausal skin that is already sensitive, reactive and fighting to regulate its own temperature - alcohol and fragrance in your SPF on the hottest day of the year is the last thing it needs.

The one I use and recommend is iS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50+. Two active ingredients. Clean. Physical. Brilliant for menopausal skin (and available in Guernsey Medispa!)

Have a look at the ingredient lists across the three products. Which would you choose?
