Do you know that the gate way to the body is the EYE.
And have you noticed that it is very easy to forget what we hear than what we see. 80% of our memories are determined by what we see. Imagine life without you eyes. It won't be pleasant I suppose. The most interesting part of it all is that, the eye cannot be transplanted. More than one million nerve fibers connect each eye to the brain and currently, they've not been able to reconstruct those connections. Did you also know that the eye is the second most complex organ after the brain?
It is therefore important to know it's composition, relevance and every detailed fact on the eye in other to accord it with great importance. We don’t often give our eyes as much thought as we should, that is until something goes wrong and our vision is affected. But when you learn more about eyes, you realize just how amazing they are. CTV brings to your interesting and detailed facts about the eye. More information that would simply blow your mind. Just stay connected.

WORTH IT.
I looked at the lady with surprise as she dialed the number on the telegram. “I mean who does this” I said silently. The gentleman who sat in front of her was not a Ghanaian. I could tell from his assent. It was a busy morning and everyone was trying to clear their desks before the meeting. Everyone was moving helter skelter to ensure everything was in order. I had fifteen sheets on my desk already to clear again after handing-over twenty of such to the manager twenty minutes ago. The CEO was to visit the company that day together with a private team called “CTV” to go through the company’s credentials. We were to receive them the following week thus, we had enough time to clear and put every pin in order, but just this morning upon arrival, the manager called for an emergency meeting only to be informed that CEO, Mr. Isaac McCarthy was coming over with the team at noon. In fact it was a blow, no body waited for the manager to adjourn the meeting when everyone busted out to their offices to ensure things were in order. I realized Sir. Blue, the manager, as everyone usually addresses him was in a hurry himself too.
I was his secretary and Sylvia was his personal assistant. After everyone had left the room, I walked straight to my desk and said a word of prayer as I waited patiently for Sylvia to deliver my work for the day. It looked as though everyone was under pressure, I was quite relaxed because I had cleared my desk before setting off for home the previous day just to avoid Sylvia’s nagging on this day. All the same I pondered over the reason that could make Sylvia pile such work and decide to hand them over a few hours to the CEO’s arrival. I questioned her about it when I went to deliver the twenty to her for the manager’s signature. The company had supplied some goods to some South African investors other six companies a couple of day’s back. Surprisingly nothing had been done about the documents. My clearing and issuing the done command on my computer without the manager’s signature is the only single that sends the message that indeed the goods were delivered with every payment was accurately made and entered into the company’s locks. Sylvia ignored my question and I left her office quietly.
As I was about going the other fifteen sheets hoping that was all I had to do before the CEO’s arrival, a gentleman walked to my desk. “Good morning”, he said. I raised my head and responded with a smile. His face does not look familiar I said to myself, he stood there with a bunch of keys in his hands and kept rolling them. “Please have a sit Sir, how may I be of help to you?” I asked. “I’m here to see your manager”, he answered. “Do you have an appointment with him”, I asked. “No but I believe he is expecting me”, he said. A bit tensed I asked for his full name, “just tell your manager Isaac is here to see him”, he replied with a smile. “A moment please”, I excused myself. I called Sylvia to inform the manager about the unexpected guest. I kept wondering about this guest even as the call was going through, Manager would usually give me a list of his expected guests or those he had appointments with. “How possible I didn’t receive any detail about this one” I asked myself, “maybe it is as a result of the sudden CEO arrival pressure” I thought to myself. “Send him in” Sylvia said in her bossy tone. I then escorted him to Sylvia’s office.
“Hello Sir. Isaac I am Sylvia, the Manager’s personal assistant” she said upon seeing the guest. “I was informed you are after my boss, but unfortunately you can’t meet him, if there is any vital message you can tell me so I relay it to him since he is a bit occupied with preparations for the CEO’s arrival” Sylvia said.” I believe he’s expecting me”, he said. Why don’t you call him to find out if he’s expecting someone or not. Gentleman, I have already told you he’s a bit busy, I am his personal assistant and it is my duty that things are always on the right path , this ain't the right time to meet the Manager, Silvia said this time rather firm. She picked the telegram to make a call and the man starred at her in dismay. And is there anything else you need? Sylvia asked. No please , I was just about leaving I answered. Just as I was about stepping out, Mr Isaac turned to me and whispered a Thank you. I smiled and nodded and dashed out from the room. I wasn't really surprised at Silvia's behavior since that's her nature , the "over principled lady" as we've tagged her in the office.
I quickly went through the documents , entered and did everything I had to do and submitted to Sylvia for the Manager's signature. The gentleman was still around when I got there and I could tell from the look on Silvument in my absence. Excuse me sir I said and dropped the documents on her desk. She picked the documents and asked the gentleman to come with her, as she entered Sir Blue's Office. Just as I was about leaving, Sylvia rushed out of the office and screamed " tell the communicator to announce the CEO's arrival. The CEO is in , for real! I said to myself , I checked my time is is was 11:30am. I rushed to pass the information as I was sent and went back to my desk to do final checks.
At exactly 11:55am the conference room was full, everyone was seated as we waited patiently for the CEO to arrive. The door opened gently and we all stood up as curtsey demands, and there entered Silvia, then the young man Mr Isaac , and the Manager followed closely. I was quite surprised. Why would the Manager allow Mr Isaac to join us in a business ,confidential meeting like this. Even if they are that close, it's not allowed for foreigners as I'd say, to join in the business' meeting . it's against the ethics of the profession. Well, why disturb my thoughts with a lot of questions, they'll surely be an introduction. "Good morning comrades" you may please take your seats". Silvia said wearing a smile. Don't be surprised she's always like that during afterwards, the smile fades away
Sir Blue stood up after whispering a few words to the guest. Good morning ones again. As we were informed earlier today, we were to receive the CEO and the CTV team at noon, but unfortunately for us; the team couldn't join us. But we have the CEO I'm our mist. I'm honored to introduce to you the CEO, Mr Isaac McCarthy , the gentleman stood up as his name was mentioned. I was losy . In fact I couldn't locate my palms for a clap, the CEO , are you kidding me, I whispered, A simple man in an African Print shirt, a trouser and a locally made slipper. I guess I wasn't the only one taken by the scene. Everyone had a "SERIOUSLY" look on their faces. No one was clapping and for some minutes the room was becoming tensed. Then suddenly Sylvia started applauding and we all joined in. Thank you he said.
It's great to home. Those few words got the entire room in total silence. His British assent and the way he carried himself told us he had power over the language. I am not surprised at the look on your faces; of course, it was so obvious. I believe you expected me to walk through the gates of this company in an expensive outfit, with a team of geniuses following me. He smiled
If you really want to know how competent someone is, for a particular position or a task assigned to them, just out them under a little pressure and interrupt. The room was dead silent. I believe I would have heard the sound of a pin if one had dropped that very minute.
The whole idea of me coming down was not to check credentials. I have a link to the entire companies system and so I do my checks at anywhere anytime. Coming along with the team for another total check, that would be a waste of the greatest resource "TIME". He moved from his seat.
Now, I wanted to test the competency of the board heads, attitude, behaviour and character wise he said. This Company was established some years ago and was and since then, human interaction has been the foundation of this great building we see today. Day in day out, searching and establishing a strong bond with them is what we accord with great deal. I always say this, he continued it's very important that you cherish what you have in your hand today. What is the point in losing consumers and going out there to look for new ones. I don't know if I'm communicating any sense he added. I nodded. Calculate the time and effort, effort and resource you had to put to secure a contract with lemme say another company, then you push them away with the intention of " we'll get another".
That resources spent to look for another, could have been invested in another thing. I believe so much in "Ahwene pa Nkasa". Everyone burst out laughing as he tried to get his twi right. Your right interaction with "A" will sell you out "B", through recommendation.
But how we grantee a good customer relationship. We must first start from here. If the world would accept us, if we can guarantee our customers of total professional and competent relationship then it must start with us. We must establish that both within.
So let me start with this, let me share a lesson I learnt this morning as I entered the company with you under the topic," Understand and look at everything from a positive perspective. As i entered I gates of the company, I took a quick glance at the environment , I was impressed , I have been away for sometime now and I've seen a massive improvement on arrival. I must say , I loved it. Everyone applauded. Then I walked straight to the receptionist after the security had done their job. Then I thought he snapped his fingers, the lives of my God with God and the security system are in safe hands. Your manager told me that all of you are thoroughly screened every day before you take your seats everyday. He smiled. I heard some are asked to go home ,if you report without your biometric IDs.
But then I believe all of you have various reasons why you allow yourselves to go through that process. Someone would say it's because they don't trust we the workers. The room was suddenly filled with murmuring. Come to think of it, what if everyone was allowed to troop in and out without a thorough check and someone steals a vital document from desk, or the companies strategical plan is download from your PC and the company suddenly collapses. What would be your fate. Understand and look at every situation from a different positive perspective. He paused for a while, then continued, so I walked up to the receptionist table. Her gorgeous smile and her smartness caught my attention. Welcome to Prike's company, we believe we'll be of great assistance to you at the end of the day. Have a seat please. Everyone burst out laughing as he tried to imitate Priscilla. She smiled throughout our conversation, at a point in time I though I lost concentration he laughed as everyone did. I believe we all agree to the fact that she's very welcoming and friendly I must say. Others think she's too friendly and that, that’s her weakness. But trust you me , someone's weakness might be their greatest possession to greatness. If investors were to visit the company and their first encounter was her, I guess if they were gonna invest GH 1, they’ll end up investing GH 100. Wow! We all screamed followed by an applause. Oh yea! He said. Her smile made me forget my name when she asked , I just kept staring. We bursts into laughter.
Understand and look at everything from a different perspective, he continued challenge yourself to find a the slightest positive piece in every situation, no matter how ugly it is. I want you to keep this.
So , I spoke to her, she took my details after I told her I wanted to see the manager. She directed me to the managers floor which I didn't go immediately after I left there, I had my own plans , you know. I took a tour to the various department and I met with the heads just to ask for the route ti the manager's office. Everyone was so busy I noticed. Some said "Sir we would love to help you but if it's business you wonna discuss with the manger, then I advice you go and come another time so you can have a good audience and transaction. The Manager is quite busy at the moment. Some even told me the manager is not available. I'm sure some are thinking the Customer comes first. But hey! Looking at it, they managed to put the customer and the company on the same level. The customer wants the best, the company is under pressure, your ability to drag the customer calmly along with you through the stress is a plus. In life you can never have two situations working perfectly for you unless you bring all of them to the same standard, that is when you'll be able to grade and access which one you should attend to first. If they hadn't presented their argument well , I'm sure the company would have been at a greater loss. Understand each other as you are here comrades cuz that's the only way you can keep the fire burning. Time is not on my side, he continued , let me rap up. So finally I got to the Manager's secretary. Just then, my heart Skipped a beat., she welcomed me warmly and went through all process to enquire if I had an appointment with the Boss. She gave maximum respect to her Snr Silvia and I believe her Principled nature got the secretary on her toes. And I believe that kept the small sector booming. She is rude , pompous too known some would call her l, But I'd describe Sylvia as principled. "You should know what to do and not wait to be told what to do", she told me today. If everyone should view her as this figure, non of you would be offended by her attitude.
Let's learn to respect ourselves ,that's the only way we can pass it on to our clients. We come across different caliber of people each passing day and the only way we can interact with people Cordinatively is by first challenging ourselves to find the slightest positive piece in everyda worse situation. Starting from " now" and "here" will pave a way "then" and "there".
And of shouldn't be just here, in life, try not to handle every situation like the way anyone else would without thinking about the afterwards results. Try to look and understand everyone and everything from a positive perspective. Thats the secret code to greater height.
He walked straight to his seat after that phrase. And with a standing ovation, everyone applauded. A great massage I said, it was worth your visit.

DISORDERS OF THE BRAIN
We have looked at what the brain is all about as a human organ in our previous post, now let us learn about few diseases or disorders associated to the brain.
Alzheimer's Disease
It is a form of dementia - a neurodegenerative disease that damages the brain's intellectual functions (memory, orientation, calculation, etc.). Usually a disease of later life, after 60 years, it can also affect people at age 30. Some risk factors are head injury, a female s*x and those of lower educational level.
In the earliest stages of Alzheimer's disease, the short term memory is affected and the patient finds it had to learn and retain new information. Eventually older or distant memory is lost gradually and it becomes difficult to recover memories of events and people from earlier life. Some symptoms are difficulty in:
1.putting thoughts into words
2.carrying out simple directed acts
3.recognizing well-known faces or objects
4.planning meals
5.managing money
6.keeping doors locked against intruders
7.taking medicine on schedule
others may include personality changes, anxiety, depression, delusions and hallucinations.
HEADACHE
This is a common complaint experienced by most people signifying a brain disorder. Headache is actually a symptom whose presence and place of occurrence indicates an underlying brain tissue damage.
TYPES OF HEADACHES AND THEIR MOST LIKELY BRAIN DISORDER DIAGNOSIS
1. Aneurysm: sudden, severe onset of pain. In early stages it may mimic migraine (a one-sided throbbing or pulsating headache characterized by nausea and photophobia) or cluster headaches. Symptoms are loss of consciousness, a stiff neck and double vision. This type of headache is caused by uncontrolled hypertension and family history.
2.Altitude Sickness: headache affects both sides of the brain usually unlike that of aneurysm. It is caused by change in altitude, that is, from a lower to a higher altitude with less or no oxygen supply.
3.Allergy: Generalized often accompanied by runny nose and sore eyes. It is caused by allergens such as pollens.
4.Chronic Daily Headache: Generalized head pain maybe associated with migraine attacks. It is usually as a result of overuse of medication, anxiety and depression.
5.Chronic Migraine: is a condition where patients suffer headaches for 15 days or more per month.
6.Arthritis: pain at the back of head and upper neck. Usually caused by changes in structure of the neck and worsens with movement.
7.Brain Cancers/Tumors: severe headaches, progressively becoming worse with other symptoms such as vomiting, visual disturbances, a weakness in an arm and leg, speech problems, personality changes or epileptic fits. The cause of such is unknown (idiopathic).
BRAIN CANCER/TUMOR
Brain tumors or cancers affect both adults and children. More than 1,200 people die each year from malignant and benign brain tumors. Tumors or cancers result from the growth of abnormal body cells. Until today the cause of most cancers is unknown only that some risk factors can pose as a cause.
A brain tumor can be benign (not cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Benign tumors do not spread outside their normal boundary to other parts of the body whereas a malignant can spread to other parts of the body because it is made up of cancer cells. A malignant brain tumor is life threatening, invasive and usually rapid growing but a benign brain tumor can cause problems by just pressing on and damaging the surrounding brain tissue.
EPILEPSY
It is a neurological disorder characterized by brief recurrent changes in the electrical activities of the brain leading to seizures, which last from few seconds to several minutes. During an epileptic seizure brain cells may fire many times above their normal rate. They are two types of seizures namely; partial seizure (part of the brain is involved) and primary or generalized seizure (the entire brain is involved).

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given , and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Because of how important his birth was going to mean to the world , God made his Prophets prophesize about it some many years earlier before it was manifested. And indeed the Saviour was born. Today the Good Lord has given us the opportunity to remember the birth of our Saviour and celebrate his birth.
Norman Vicent Peale once said that, Christmas waves a magic wand over the world and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. Indeed he came, to bring us hope,to lighten the dim lights in us and reconnect us back to God. Today we welcome the Saviour, our redeemer, our comforter and our ultimate hope to salvation. That is why i personally agree with Frederick Buechner that "it is impossible to conceive how different things would have turned out if that special birth had not happened whenever, wherever, however it did......for millions of people who have lived since, the birth of Jesus made possible not just a new way of understanding life but a new way of living it. It is a truth that for twenty centuries, there have been untold numbers of men and women who, in untold number of ways, have been so grasped by the child who was born, so caught up in the message he taught and the life he lived, that they have found themselves profoundly changed by their relationship with him".
In as much as we remember the birth of our dear Lord and Master Jesus, let us not forget the main purpose of him coming into our world and leave accordingly.
On this special occasion,CTV would like to remind you , that, even as we make merry, we should not forget to take into consideration our health. Lets lessen the intake of fatty foods, alcohol , high cholesterol meals, just to mention a few and stick more to lots of fruits and vegetables, cholesterol free foods. Lets not forget to also hydrate the body by taking in lots of water as much as possible in relation to the weather. Keep your skin and hair moisturized always taking into much consideration the heel and the lips to prevent cracks and break in the normal continuity of the skin. Remember to eat healthy and stay healthy for as we do so, we do away with little sickness and diseases that steal our time and resources. CTV wishes you all a merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year in advance.
Don't forget that......"Your health always matters"....
