🇹🇹 HAPPY 64TH INDEPENDENCE DAY, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO! 🇹🇹
Some places we visit. Some places become part of our story.
For me, Trinidad and Tobago is part of my story.
Guyana is the land of my birth and will always be home 🇬🇾, but Trinidad is the country that gave me the formal education and professional training that enabled me to become a Massage Therapist.
I arrived there with an ambition and left with knowledge, qualifications, experiences and friendships that would ultimately help shape the professional I am today. Much of what I have been able to build through Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks has roots in the education I received on Trinidadian soil.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
So when I call Trinidad my second home, those words carry meaning. It is not simply another Caribbean country to me; it is a place that invested knowledge in me, opened another chapter of my life and became part of my professional journey.
Today, as Trinidad and Tobago celebrates 64 years of Independence, I celebrate with you and wish the nation and its people continued progress, prosperity, unity and peace.
May we also remember that beyond our borders, flags and nationalities, we are Caribbean people whose histories and futures remain deeply connected.
From a proud Guyanese 🇬🇾 to the country I proudly call my second home 🇹🇹
Happy Independence Day, Trinidad and Tobago.
Thank you for being part of my journey. ❤️🇹🇹🇬🇾 🙏🏽

This Reuters investigation from Brazil should serve as a warning far beyond Brazil.
The enormous demand for weight-loss medicines such as semaglutide and tirzepatide has helped fuel a dangerous black market. Reuters reports that drugs have been smuggled across borders hidden in everything from sweet-food containers to motorcycle exhaust pipes and false shoe soles. Brazilian authorities have seized thousands of vials.
The concern is not legitimate medication prescribed and monitored by qualified healthcare professionals. GLP-1 medicines have established medical benefits and are recognised by the World Health Organization as an option for certain adults living with obesity.
The danger is buying injectable medication from unregulated sources, self-medicating, or using products whose identity, purity, strength and storage conditions cannot be guaranteed. WHO specifically warns that falsified products may contain incorrect or undeclared ingredients and may even be contaminated.
And we should remember something else: medication is not the only pathway to weight management.
For many people, meaningful improvements can begin with the fundamentals, improving the quality and quantity of what we eat, reducing excess calories, becoming more physically active, sleeping adequately and managing stress. The CDC notes that gradual weight loss of around 1–2 lb (0.45–0.9 kg) per week is more likely to be maintained than faster weight loss.
Adults are also generally advised to get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week, together with muscle-strengthening activity on at least two days. Nutrition and physical activity work together in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.
There are circumstances where obesity requires medical treatment, and there should be absolutely no shame in seeking it. But that treatment should be guided by a qualified healthcare professional, not a social-media seller, an unofficial dealer, or someone offering a suspiciously cheap injection.
There is no shortcut worth gambling with your health.
Eat better. Move more. Build sustainable habits. And when medical assistance is necessary, seek qualified medical care.
A Health & Wellness Message from Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks
Your health is a lifelong investment. Choose sustainable habits, stay active, nourish your body well, and when medical intervention is needed, always seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.
Booming weight-loss drug demand in Brazil fuels thriving black market and health fears Drugs hidden in motorcycle exhaust pipes and false shoe soles underscore the dangers of a boom that has made Brazil one of the world's hottest markets for weight-loss medications.

As our children across Guyana begin a new academic year, this BBC article offers some simple but valuable advice for making the transition back to school a little easier.
Among the key recommendations from educators and child-development experts:
• Establish a consistent morning routine - and, where possible, prepare uniforms, bags, lunches and other necessities the night before.
• Plan ahead - keep a family or school calendar for assignments, activities, examinations and important school dates.
• Ask better questions after school. Instead of simply asking, “How was school?”, try questions such as, “What made you smile today?” or “Who did you spend time with today?”
• For younger children, make school familiar before expecting independence. Talk about school, practise routines and encourage simple tasks they can manage themselves.
• Create structure around homework, while praising effort rather than placing excessive emphasis solely on results.
• Perhaps most importantly, listen when children express anxiety. Rather than immediately saying, “You’ll be fine,” acknowledge what they are feeling and try to understand what is worrying them.
One point particularly worth remembering is that school readiness is about much more than knowing numbers and letters. A child feeling safe, confident, supported and able to ask an adult for help matters enormously.
As this new academic year begins, perhaps our responsibility as parents and guardians is not simply to send children to school, but to create the environment at home that allows them to learn, grow and thrive.
Education begins in the classroom, but the foundation is strengthened at home.
A worthwhile read for every parent and guardian.

As schools across Guyana reopen their doors for a new academic year, we at Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks extend our very best wishes to every student beginning another chapter of their educational journey.
To our children and young people: learn with curiosity, dream beyond your present circumstances, respect your teachers, support your classmates and never underestimate where an education can take you.
Every lesson learnt, every book opened, every examination attempted and every challenge overcome contributes not only to your personal development, but to the development of Guyana.
To our teachers, educators and school staff, we wish you strength, patience, fulfilment and a successful academic year. Teaching is far more than delivering a curriculum. You are helping to shape minds, build character, recognise potential and prepare another generation to carry Guyana forward. Thank you for answering the call to educate.
To our parents and guardians, we salute you.
Behind every child arriving at school is often an adult making sacrifices the wider world never sees, the early mornings, uniforms, meals, transportation, school supplies, homework, encouragement, discipline and, sometimes, simply finding a way when resources are limited.
Thank you for continuing to make your children's education a priority.🙏🏽
We also recognise the Government of Guyana, the Ministry of Education - Guyana, administrators and supporting personnel for the work involved in preparing our schools and education system to receive our nation's children. As Guyana continues to develop, sustained investment in education must remain central to our national progress, not simply ensuring that children enter classrooms, but that they learn, develop meaningful skills and have equitable opportunities to succeed.
The evidence reinforces why this matters. Research from the Inter-American Development Bank identifies education and skills as fundamental to improving social mobility, productivity and overcoming structural inequalities. The IDB has also highlighted a sobering regional reality: around four in ten young people in Latin America and the Caribbean do not complete secondary education.
Research cited by the World Bank has estimated that, globally, each additional year of schooling is associated with roughly a 10% increase in earnings on average. Education therefore reaches far beyond the classroom, it expands opportunity, strengthens earning potential and is a powerful instrument in the fight against poverty and inequality.
This is why education is nation-building.
The doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, entrepreneurs, scientists, tradespeople, technicians, artists, athletes and leaders who will shape Guyana's future are sitting in classrooms today.
When we educate a child, we expand opportunity.
When we expand opportunity, we strengthen families.
When we strengthen families, we strengthen communities.
And when strong communities move forward together, we build a stronger Guyana. 🇬🇾
As this new academic year begins, may we remember that educating Guyana's children is not solely the responsibility of teachers, parents or Government.
It is a collective national investment in the Guyana we hope to become.
To every student: Go forward. Learn. Grow. Become.
To every teacher: thank you for educating and inspiring.
To every parent and guardian: thank you for the sacrifices you make.
May this be a safe, productive and successful academic year for all.
Best wishes from Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks 🙏🏽

“Sugar-free” does not necessarily mean risk-free.
New research involving more than 17,000 people has raised questions about xylitol, a widely used sugar substitute found in products such as sugar-free chewing gum, jams, yoghurt, ice cream and some oral-care products.
Researchers found that people with the highest levels of xylitol in their blood had a significantly greater risk of major cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke.
Importantly, this study shows an association, not proof that xylitol causes cardiovascular disease. More research is needed to understand exactly what this means for everyday consumption.
Still, it offers an important reminder: replacing sugar with something labelled “sugar-free” does not automatically make a product healthier.
Read your labels. Know what you are consuming. And wherever possible, build your diet around whole and minimally processed foods rather than simply replacing one highly processed ingredient with another.
Wellness begins with awareness.

On this sacred observance of Youman Nabi, I extend warm and heartfelt greetings to the Muslim community across Guyana.
As Muslims reflect upon the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), may the values of compassion, humility, charity, patience and service to humanity resonate far beyond the walls of our mosques and within the heart of our entire nation.
Guyana is a beautiful tapestry of peoples, cultures, faiths and traditions. Our strength does not come from all of us believing the same thing, but from our ability to respect one another, celebrate together and recognise the humanity that binds us.
In a world where division can so easily take root, may occasions such as Youman Nabi remind us that kindness requires no shared religion, compassion recognises no race, and respect needs no common background.
May we continue building a Guyana where we look after our neighbours, extend a hand to those in need, speak to one another with dignity, and allow our differences to enrich rather than divide us.
To our Muslim brothers and sisters, may this observance bring peace, reflection and renewed purpose to you and your families.
And to all Guyanese, may its message inspire us towards a more compassionate, respectful and united nation.
Youman Nabi Mubarak to the Muslim community, and may peace and goodwill prevail throughout our beautiful Guyana.

Building Strong Foundations, We’re Here 😊
Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks is on location today at the Shaw’s Academy Mortgage Readiness Masterclass, powered by Republic Bank.
Our chair is set, the Dauntless banner is up, and we are ready to introduce another important dimension to the conversation about building a secure future, physical wellness.
Throughout today’s Masterclass, participants will have an opportunity to experience complimentary 5-minute therapeutic chair massage sessions, incorporating hands-on therapeutic massage and percussion therapy where appropriate.
I’ll also be sharing my brief wellness presentation, “Building Your Dream Home Without Breaking Your Body”, connecting the journey of homeownership with stress management, musculoskeletal health and caring for the body that will carry us through everything we are working so hard to build.
There is something powerful about seeing financial wellness and physical wellness sharing the same room.
After all:
A house needs a strong foundation to stand.
So does the person working to build it.
Thank you once again to Mr. Gregory Shaw and Shaw’s Academy for welcoming Dauntless into this space, and to Republic Bank for powering today’s Masterclass.

Building Strong Foundations
Financial Wellness × Physical Wellness
Today, Dauntless Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks is pleased to collaborate with Shaw’s Academy at its Mortgage Readiness Masterclass, powered by Republic Bank.
There is something particularly meaningful about this collaboration.
Financial wellness and physical wellness may appear to occupy two very different spaces, but both contribute to the same goal: building a secure, sustainable and fulfilling life.
While Shaw’s Academy guides participants through the process of becoming financially prepared for homeownership, Dauntless will be there to highlight another investment that deserves equal attention, their health and physical wellbeing.
As part of today’s Masterclass, I will deliver a brief wellness presentation entitled “Building Your Dream Home Without Breaking Your Body”, exploring stress, posture, musculoskeletal health and practical ways of protecting the body throughout the journey of homeownership.
Dauntless will also provide attendees with complimentary 5-minute therapeutic chair massage experiences, incorporating hands-on therapeutic massage and percussion therapy where appropriate.
A house needs a strong foundation to stand.
So does the person working to build it.
My sincere thanks to Mr. Gregory Shaw and Shaw’s Academy for recognising the value of incorporating physical wellness into a programme centred on financial preparedness and homeownership, and to Republic Bank for powering this important initiative.
I look forward to today’s collaboration and to continuing to find meaningful ways of bringing health and wellness into spaces where people are planning, building and investing in their futures.
