Firstly, thank you to every single one of you for your continued loyalty, patience and support. The Pretty Parlour has grown because of you, and I’m incredibly grateful.

As we’ve restructured the salon, our focus is on providing a more personalised, luxury experience for every client. This means that the majority of your appointment will now be carried out by a fully qualified stylist, ensuring consistency, expertise and the highest standard of care from start to finish.

With this new way of working comes a commitment to protecting the time allocated for every appointment.

For that reason, the days of “Seraphina will fit me in” have come to an end.

While I’ve always tried my best to accommodate everyone, I can no longer squeeze clients into an already full day. Every appointment deserves the time, care and attention it was booked for.

If you’re hoping to be squeezed in, please remember that doing so would mean rushing the client before you—and that’s not the experience I want for anyone. Just as I wouldn’t rush your appointment to fit someone else in, I won’t rush theirs either.

Appointments are now by booking only, and I’m typically booked 2–3 weeks in advance, so I kindly ask that you plan ahead, especially if you have holidays, weddings or special occasions coming up.

These changes are about protecting the quality of every appointment and ensuring I can continue delivering the service that The Pretty Parlour is known for.

☀️ The warm weather is here… and while I’m on holidays myself, my hair routine certainly doesn’t take a holiday. 🤍

We all remember to protect our skin in the sunshine, but your hair needs just as much attention. UV rays, heat, salt water, chlorine and even our local water can all leave your hair dry, dull and damaged if you don’t replace what they’ve taken away.

Here’s the routine I’m following this summer:

🌞 During the day
• Use a heat protector before styling.
• Protect your scalp with SPF if it’s exposed.
• Stay hydrated—healthy hair starts from within.

🌅 After a day in the sun or sea

✨ Step 1: Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse!

If you’ve been swimming in the sea or a pool, using a clarifying shampoo is one of the most important things you can do. It removes salt, chlorine, sunscreen, minerals and product build-up so your hair is actually clean before you begin treating it.

I always say this in the salon, and I know you’re probably blue in the face hearing me say it… cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! 😂

Living here in West Cork, our water is hard enough on our hair as it is, and during the summer, with all the sea swimming, it’s even more important.

Think of it this way: using the best products in the world is a waste of time if your prep work isn’t done. If your hair is coated in build-up, your treatments simply can’t do their job.

My go-to is the Joico K-PAK Clarifying Shampoo.

✨ Step 2: Replace the moisture

Next, I wash with Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo. After a day in the sunshine, your hair has lost moisture, so this is all about putting that hydration back where it belongs.

✨ Step 3: Repair and strengthen

My holiday favourite has been the Joico K-PAK Luster Lock Instant Shine & Repair Treatment.

This treatment helps:

After a day in the sea or sunshine, I always recommend finishing with a nourishing mask or treatment. It’s one of the easiest ways to keep your hair healthy all summer long instead of trying to repair it afterwards.

These just happen to be my personal summer favourites and what works for my own hair. Every head of hair is different, so what I use might not be exactly what your hair needs.

That’s why we always recommend popping into the salon for a quick consultation. We can look at your hair, your lifestyle and your concerns, then recommend the products that will work best for you. There’s no one-size-fits-all routine, and sometimes simply swapping to a different product within the same range can make all the difference.
