When a client comes in with a broken nail, I don’t just look at the break and think, “Right, fix that.”

I’m also wondering:

Where did it break?

Is it always the same nail?

Was there an impact?

Has the length changed?

Has this started happening more often lately?

Because one random break is one thing.

The same problem repeating can be useful information.

It doesn’t mean someone has done something “wrong.” It just helps me work out whether we need to adjust length, shape, structure or simply keep an eye on it.

I’d rather ask questions than automatically blame the nail… or the person attached to it. 😄

This is the time of year when I start noticing the same thing on lots of hands.

Drier skin. Drier cuticles. Little rough bits appearing where everything looked completely fine a few weeks ago.

Cold air outside, heating indoors and constant hand washing can all make hands feel much drier.

You don’t need a complicated routine.

A hand cream you’ll actually use + cuticle oil around the nails regularly is plenty for most people.

The boring answer is usually the useful one: consistency beats buying five products and forgetting all of them in a drawer. 😂

One of the nicest transformations I’ve seen at my nail desk had nothing to do with nail shape, length or colour.

One of my regular clients was incredibly nervous when she first started coming to me.

Even sitting through a nail appointment and trying to relax wasn’t easy for her.

But appointment by appointment, I watched that change.

A little more relaxed. A little more comfortable. A little less tense.

And now she can sit at my table completely at ease.

I love beautiful nails, obviously.

But seeing someone go from feeling nervous about an appointment to being able to come in, settle down and actually enjoy the time means a lot to me too.
