🦶 Corns and calluses usually give us warning signs long before they become painful.
Our skin doesn’t suddenly wake up one morning and start hurting for no reason.
Pressure and friction build up over time, and the feet often try to “tell us” earlier:
• skin becoming harder or thicker
• tenderness when walking
• burning or discomfort
• feeling pressure in certain shoes
These are signals that something is not working properly and should not be ignored.
My advice? Don’t wait until the pain becomes severe.
The earlier you react, the easier it is to prevent deeper discomfort and ongoing problems.
Sometimes a small change, the right advice, proper foot care or correctly chosen treatment can make a huge difference. 🦶✨
If your feet are trying to tell you something, listen to them early and seek help from a specialist before the pain starts affecting your everyday life.

🦶 Why do corns and calluses become painful?
Corns and calluses are actually the skin’s natural way of protecting itself from constant pressure and friction. When one area of the foot is repeatedly overloaded, the skin starts producing extra layers of hard skin as a defence mechanism.
The problem starts when this pressure continues for a long time.
🦶 The hard skin gradually builds up
🦶 It becomes thicker, tighter and less flexible
🦶 Over time, it starts acting almost like a “wedge” inside the skin
Instead of protecting the foot, the hardened skin begins pressing deeper into the tissues underneath, irritating nerve endings — and this is what causes pain, especially when walking.
With corns, there is often a hard central core that can feel like a small sharp point pressing into the skin with every step.
❗ In many cases, long-term hard skin can go surprisingly deep. After removal, the skin underneath may sometimes look uneven or appear to have a small hollow area. This is not because the skin was “cut too deep” during treatment. It is simply the result of long-lasting pressure and tissue compression that had already been there for some time.
👉 Tenderness after treatment is usually related to the previous pressure and build-up, not the procedure itself.
👉 After treatment, I always choose suitable padding or pressure relief to help make walking more comfortable during recovery — because life doesn’t stop and we still need to stay on our feet 😊

✨ Nail Fold Cleansing ✨
Clean nail folds are an important part of healthy nails 🤍
When dead skin and debris build up around the nail edges, they can create pressure and cause discomfort or tenderness.
Gentle and regular nail fold cleansing helps reduce this pressure, keeps the area clean, and supports healthy nail growth. It also lowers the risk of irritation or infection.
This step makes further treatments, such as nail packing or corrective bracing, easier and more effective.

CORN PLASTERS – why they are NOT a good idea ❌
Many people use corn plasters because they are easy to buy and promise quick relief.
But in reality, they often cause more problems than help.
Here’s why I don’t recommend them 👇
🔸 They don’t remove the core
Corn plasters only soften the hard skin.
The corn usually comes back, because the real cause is still there (for example tight shoes or pressure).
🔸 Risk of chemical burns
Most corn plasters contain salicylic acid.
This acid does not work only on the corn – it can damage healthy skin around and cause burns or skin breakdown.
🔸 Not safe for people with diabetes
Reduced sensation and circulation increase the risk of wounds, infections and slow healing.
🔸 Skin irritation and allergies
Burning, redness, pain or contact dermatitis are very common side effects.
🔸 They make professional treatment harder
Macerated or inflamed skin is much more difficult to treat safely in the clinic.
✨ The best solution?
Professional assessment, safe removal and advice on footwear and pressure relief – not DIY acids.
If you’re unsure what kind of lesion you have, it’s always better to ask than to risk your skin 🤍

What you see in the photo is a corn — a problem that is often ignored at the beginning.
At first, it may feel like a light sting or pressure when walking.
This is usually the moment when people start to notice something isn’t quite right.
When a corn is left untreated, it rarely disappears on its own.
Over time, the pressure increases and the area can become painful, inflamed, and sensitive to touch. In some cases, walking itself becomes uncomfortable.
It’s important to understand that treating a corn does not mean it will never return.
Unless the cause of the pressure is identified and reduced, the skin will continue to protect itself in the same way.
Professional treatment focuses on relieving discomfort, reducing pressure, and slowing down the process of recurrence — not just on removing what is visible on the surface.
Corns like this often form in areas exposed to constant pressure or friction, especially around joints.
If you start to feel stinging or pressure — don’t wait until it turns into pain 👣

Dark nail after an injury 👣
This is a subungual haematoma – blood trapped under the nail after a mechanical injury.
It often looks worrying, but it is not always a fungal infection.
In most cases, the dark area will slowly grow out with the nail.
Correct assessment is always the first step before any treatment.
