Ever opened your prescription bag and thought… “Hang on — these tablets don’t look like the ones I usually get?” 👀

That can happen when an interchangeable version of a medicine is supplied. It may be a different colour, shape, size or come in completely different packaging, while still containing the same active ingredient and strength.

Not every medicine can simply be swapped, though — pharmacists follow the HPRA’s list of medicines considered interchangeable, and there are circumstances where substitution isn’t appropriate.

If something in your prescription looks unfamiliar, ask us before taking it rather than wondering at home. 💙

The ’90s brown lip liner is back — just a little softer this time. 🤎

Think blurred definition, nude-brown tones and a glossy finish rather than a hard outline.

For a softer look, try Maybelline Lifter Liner 05 On It + Lifter Glaze Caramel Glow.
For something deeper, go for 01 Cross The Line + Espresso Kiss.

Both are very much in the autumn mood without feeling too heavy.

Which pairing are you picking — soft brown or deeper brown? 👀

RSV can start out looking just like an ordinary cold. 👀

A runny or blocked nose, slight cough and sometimes a fever can be the first signs of bronchiolitis. What matters is watching for changes — particularly faster or noisy breathing, feeding less or fewer wet nappies.

Most cases are mild, but if your baby is struggling to breathe, has blue lips or tongue, is difficult to wake, has pauses in breathing or has had a dry nappy for 12 hours or more, call 112/999 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.

If you’re unsure what’s suitable for a blocked nose or fever, or need advice about medicines for your baby, ask our pharmacist at Ballybrack Medical Hall. 💜

What if your foundation did skincare too? 👀

BPerfect Skin Fusion has just landed at Ballybrack Medical Hall — a skincare-infused skin tint designed to give you lightweight, buildable coverage with a fresh, natural finish.

With niacinamide, squalane and hyaluronic acid, plus SPF 25, it’s for those days when you want your skin to look more even and polished, but still like skin.

Basically: makeup coverage with a skincare mindset.

Would this tempt you away from your usual foundation? 👀

Cold sore? Conjunctivitis? UTI? You may not need to start with the GP. 👀

Through the HSE Common Conditions Service, participating pharmacists can assess a range of common conditions and, where appropriate, prescribe treatment.

That includes cold sores, conjunctivitis, impetigo, shingles, cystitis/UTIs, vaginal thrush, oral thrush and allergic rhinitis.

Eligibility varies depending on the condition, age and individual circumstances, so not everyone will be suitable for treatment through the service.

Did you know your pharmacist could help with all of these?

If you’re unsure whether the service is suitable for you, speak to our pharmacists at Ballybrack Medical Hall. We’re always happy to advise.💜

Just when you thought allergy season was packing up for the year… 👀

Late-summer pollen can still cause problems well into August, and for some people it’s the eyes that really give it away — itching, watering and redness.

If your eyes are taking the brunt of it, Vividrin Preservative-Free Eye Drops are one option for allergy-related eye symptoms and come in convenient single-use doses.

Available in store and online at Ballybrack Medical Hall. 💙

Always read the label and use medicines as directed.

Burning, urgency, constantly needing the loo… a UTI can make itself known very quickly. 😣

One change you may not know about: women aged 16–64 with symptoms of an uncomplicated UTI can now be assessed through the Common Conditions Service at participating pharmacies.

Your pharmacist will talk through your symptoms and, where clinically appropriate, can prescribe treatment — or advise you if another type of medical care is needed.

Holiday over. Stomach still on a different schedule? ✈️😩

Changes in food, meal times, alcohol, fluid intake and your usual routine can all leave digestion feeling a bit out of step when you travel. Constipation, indigestion, heartburn and diarrhoea can feel like they belong in the same “stomach problem” category, but they are not the same thing and may need very different advice.

That’s where your pharmacist can help. Tell us what the symptoms are, how long they have been going on and any medicines you are already taking, and we can guide you towards the most appropriate option or advise when medical review is needed.
