Second try at the Taiwan Swirl, added oats, kaolin clay and scented with rosemary and mint Essential oils.

Taiwan Swirl Soap

this month was the Taiwan Swirl technique. The challenge is hosted by Amy Warden, I love doing the challenge always something new to learn.

My batter was thicker than I wanted but I was mixing the colours for too long. I used cardboard covered in cling film for the dividers. Only two dividers as I don’t have funnel pitchers. Next time I will just mix till emulsion to get crisper lines.

Also, used 60% Shea butter recipe, a custom order. Even though the batter thickened, my chopstick (bottom end) still produced this design.

The activated charcoal was added to the middle white with just a thin line of activated charcoal also added a small drizzle of pink mica to the French pink clay too.

It looks like the black was intentionally placed, Sometimes it just lands in the right spot! Fun challenge and really like how the design goes right through the entire bar.

Will attempt this technique again.

Milk Carton Soaps

Sample soaps for the soap making class made in a milk container.

Pretty Pink bar is a drop swirl and coloured with madder root and yellow clay, scented with patchouli and rosemary.

Feather soap using hanger swirl, coloured with activated charcoal and yellow clay, scented with peppermint.

Here’s ‘under the hood’ of the soap tops posted previous. These have been curing for some time and the blended scent of patchouli, rosemary & sweet orange is still subtly fresh!

Made with one of my fav recipes includes shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, kaolin clay & silk. (French pink clay to colour).
