Aisling Kelly is a makeup artist and concept/character designer based in Dublin whose work ranges from beauty, bridal, fashion, and editorial looks to designing for opera, theatre, television and film. Her aim in all of her work is to create bespoke, beautiful, original and innovative looks, narratives and characters that play out across the faces of those she works with. She is dedicated to achieving the perfect look for each job and has become known for her refreshing attitude in an industry of conformity. Leah, what a special bride you were ❤️ From the moment Leah got in touch with me to do her wedding makeup, I knew we were a good match! She said “I’m beyond excited you’re available. Getting a date in the Reg Office was first and second was making sure you were free” 🥹 how sweet is that!!
Leah knew she wanted cool tones on her eyes, plush rosy cheeks and lips and a glowing, healthy look on her naturally fair skin.
After her trial, she has some key feedback to make the look even better and more ‘her’ - ideal!! We went a little smokier on the eyes, cooler in tone, more smudgy definition on the lash line and more defined brows. This is exactly what I love hearing after a trial as this is how we make sure you feel amazing and 100% you on your special day. It’s never just about what I think - wedding makeup is a collaborative effort and teamwork is needed! Leah was the ultimate teammate in this sense ✨
Her morning was ultra relaxed, as she had booked two adjoining hotel rooms meaning we had one room just for makeup and one room just for hair - keeping the vibe chilled and quiet with loads of space, good music, coffee, snacks - the best setup!! She even brought her own directors chair with her to save me carrying mine up from my car 🥹 her lovely mum & sister also made my job so easy and I left feeling so grateful that I get to do this for a job! No day is the same and there are sometimes challenges but mornings like this make it all worth it 💕 thank you so much, Leah for trusting me!

A bit of news I’m very excited (and slightly embarrassed lol) to share… I’ve been nominated for Best Bridal Makeup Specialist at the IMAGE Media Business of Beauty Awards 2026 ❤️
It’s my first ever nomination, which makes it feel extra special! 2026 also marks 10 years since I graduated from college where I studied makeup design for stage & screen. But I actually started doing makeup long before that - believe it or not, I did my first wedding makeup while I was still in secondary school! I just quickly totted up the years and technically I’ve now been doing makeup for half my life 🫣 and yet I still feel brand new to the industry!
Being self-employed is something I’m incredibly grateful for, and I genuinely love what I do. But it can also be a funny little world to work in. There are no ‘colleagues’ you see every day, no office chats, no spontaneous after-work-drinks, and a lot of the time you’re figuring out grown up things on your own 😅
The imposter syndrome is real! Makeup is so personal, and not everyone is going to love your work (or your personality!) all the time. I definitely don’t always feel like I have everything figured out, or like I’m the best artist in the room.
What I do know is that I care so, so much about what I do. I always give it my absolute best, I’m constantly trying to improve, and I care hugely about giving my brides the best possible makeup and experience when they put their trust in me.
So to have the work I’ve put in over the last 10+ years recognised like this honestly means the world.
I genuinely don’t think I’m the best in this category, let alone in the country!! There are so many incredibly talented artists nominated - some of whom I have looked up to long before I started specialising in wedding makeup. But being recognised for the years of effort, learning, dedication, sacrifices, and love that has gone into my little business feels pretty special!

For Niamh’s bridal makeup look we used blushing pinks, deep magentas, and even some hints of iridescent blues, to create this ethereal glow with all the intricacies of a classic bridal elegance alongside thoughtful twists to make her feel truly unique. This lovely bride had no trial, just a quick consultation over the phone a week before her wedding day, some photo references, and a chat in my chair on her wedding morning 🫶 she wasn’t shy about makeup and wanted a full glam look with warm tones on the eyes, full coverage base, lots of blush, lashes, and a beautiful pink lip 💕
She loved her final look and had she been more laid back, she would have been horizontal 🤪 thanks Aideen for having me!

I absolutely love looking after mothers of the bride & groom on a wedding morning 💕 it’s so special to help the mamas feel pampered and just as special on what is a very important day for them as well as the couple. This gorgeous mom had no brief for me, she watched me working on her daughter and when it was her own turn in my chair she said “Do whatever you think is best, I trust you” - the ultimate compliment! When she looked at herself in the mirror her gorgeous eyes lit up and I knew she felt her best. Such a privilege we have as artists to help people feel confident for such an emotional occasion 🥹

Didn’t want a 9-5 so I chose a 24/7 instead 🤪 all jokes aside, as a bridal makeup artist we are often working back to back days with bridal parties, long drives there and home, washing brushes and restocking our kits on our “days off” and trying to keep on top of admin in between! But it’s all worth it when we are with you and your gals on your special day making you feel your absolute best 💕
Bridal beauty at its best 💕
This gorgeous bride flew all the way from Australia to marry her love on home turf and she looked absolutely flawless ✨ we did a trial a year ago last time she was home in Ireland and we kept it pretty close to the look we trialled - all that changed was that she had a light spray tan done which meant overall there was less ‘contrast’ to the look: a soft smokey eye with brown liner, lots of lashes at the outer corner of the eye, and a darker browny-pink n**e lip. Just sublime!
