Tennis Ball tip Tuesday ๐พ
Welcome to September and the start of the focus on conditions effecting the hands , wrists and forearms.
This week we will start off nice and easy with some gentle self massage with the tennis ball.
Next week will be the progression from that.
Stretching is not necessarily beneficial for everyone.
I read an interesting article by Paul Ingham about stretching:
https://www.painscience.com/blog/stretching-doesnt-always-feel-good.html
And just wanted to do a post about certain conditions where stretching may not be suitable and may cause more harm and what you could substitute it with.
If you would like help on what exercise or self care may be best for you, reach out and I will be happy to help ๐ค
Okay the weather is amazing and I am loving the sunshine and heat here is Kerry. โ๏ธ
Unfortunately I did also get a mad headache yesterday , particularly on one side. So maybe more of a migraine.
This was probably brought on by a few factors:
I drank more coffee than water in the morning, I didn't wear my sunglasses ( I have contacts so extra bad of me ๐ฌ) and I was outside in the sun for quite some time.
So I hope this post can be helpful to anyone out there during the rare , but well appreciated weather we are having.

I went back to the Pet store to see if I could get any more inspiration.
Found this one, which is kind of like the two tennis balls in the sock trick.
You can have a play around with it, it may be helpful for self massage:
๐พ down either side of the spine
๐พthe back of the neck, kneeling down
๐พ having it between your calves and your hamstrings
Do you have any other ideas for it?
Remember , just enough pressure that you feel slightly discomfort ( like you are on the right spot) and not too much that it is "gripping your teeth pain".

This is carrying on from last week's tip involving pet store finds ๐.
It is exam season ๐๐
So there may be heightened anxiety and stress in the house, as well as an increase in tension in the body and lack of quality sleep.
There is evidence that massage therapy can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep and reduce the feeling of stiffness, discomfort and pain in the back, shoulders and neck.

( Note studies in massage therapy around exams are small and the effectiveness of massage is influenced by the experience of the receiver and therapist.)
I offer sessions to both students and parents to help during this stressful period.
The clinic is open during the week, including evenings and Saturday mornings.
The best way to contact me is via telephone, text or email.
