Goodbye Summer ☀️

Last day of August… and what a summer it’s been. ❤️

There are honestly far too many photos and memories to fit into one post.

Personally, we had a brilliant summer. Lots of time with family, some fantastic nights out with friends, trips home to see my family, and of course celebrating my niece’s wedding — definitely one of the highlights. 💛

Professionally, it’s probably been one of the busiest summers we’ve ever had. I couldn’t have got through it without the brilliant team of hardworking girls around me. Everyone pulled together, worked incredibly hard and just got on with it, even when things were a little chaotic behind the scenes!

I also managed to pass my Level 6 in Skin & Hair Science with UCD 🎓 — something I’m very proud to have ticked off after all the work that went into it.

Our education continued too, with some brilliant training days, including getting to learn from Andrew Barton, and our salon was chosen to create content for Alfaparf Milano, which was a lovely opportunity for us.

One part of my work that I’m especially proud of is continuing to look after our ladies and gents who come to us for hair pieces and hair replacement. With our usual private space unavailable during everything that’s been happening, it took a little more organising and discretion, but making sure those clients were still looked after properly was really important to me. ❤️

And then there’s the little matter of what’s been happening behind closed doors… 👀😂

The renovations have definitely tested my patience at times, but seeing everything finally beginning to come together makes it all worthwhile. We’re so close now, and I genuinely cannot wait to finally open those doors and show everyone what we’ve been working on.

So goodbye summer ☀️
Busy, slightly chaotic, full of work, family, friends, achievements and plenty of good memories.

Bring on autumn 🍂… I think it’s going to be an exciting one. ❤️

Women’s Equality Day

I’ve been in the hair industry for over 25 years and in business since 2007.

Like most people who run a business, there have been great years, difficult years, plenty of mistakes, plenty of lessons — and a fair amount of figuring things out as you go!

Today, Headrush has grown into a business that employs and trains a fantastic team, and that’s something I’m genuinely proud of.

Women’s Equality Day is a good excuse to acknowledge how far women have come in business and the opportunities we now have to build something of our own.

There’s always more progress to be made, but today I’m happy to give a nod to all the women out there running businesses, building careers, raising families, training the next generation — and generally just getting on with it.

Have your hair cut by celebrity hairstylist Andrew Barton – FREE!

We’re incredibly excited to welcome Andrew Barton, the face of NAK Hair UK & Ireland, to Headrush for an exclusive Look & Learn cutting event on Monday 10th August.

We’re looking for 2 hair models:

✨ 1 Curly Hair Model (similar to the inspiration photos)
✨ 1 Short Hair Model (ready for a fresh short transformation)

This is a fantastic opportunity to receive a complimentary haircut from one of the UK’s most respected hairstylists while watching his cutting techniques live.

Please note:
• You must be available on Monday 10th August
• One model is required in the morning and one in the early afternoon
• As this is a teaching demonstration, appointments will take longer than a normal haircut while Andrew explains his techniques.
• You must be happy to have photos/videos taken during the event.
• Please send us current photos of your hair when applying.
• A fully refundable booking deposit will be required to secure your place and ensure reliability.

Blonde transformations are never one-size-fits-all ✨

This client came to us wanting a bright white blonde scalp bleach before heading away on holidays🤍

After assessing the hair, Dawn could see that previous blonding work had lifted unevenly in areas, leaving warmth and patchiness through the scalp bleach. With the right approach, experience, and a carefully customised masking bleach service, she was able to refine the blonde and create this clean icy finish ❄️

Not every stylist will approach blonding the same way — and sometimes it’s the small technical details that make all the difference in achieving an even, bright blonde while still respecting the hair.

Safe to say… the final result speaks for itself 🤍✨
