,🧚 Healthy hair loves consistency. Because your Nanolocks extensions are made from 100% premium remy human hair, they respond beautifully to the same professional care that keeps natural hair strong and glossy.

Enter a simple weekly deep-repair routine using L'Oréal Professionnel Absolute Repair. This salon-grade system is designed for damaged and chemically-treated hair, which makes it a lovely partner for hair extensions.

Two steps. One noticeable difference in softness, shine, and manageability.

Weekly deep-conditioning treatment.

After shampooing, gently squeeze excess water from the hair. Apply a generous amount of Absolute Repair Mask through the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the roots and any bonds or attachment points.

Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes to let it work, then rinse thoroughly with cool water. Once a week is all it takes to help restore softness and strength.

Daily conditioning that detangles and smooths.

Use Absolute Repair Conditioner after every shampoo. Work a small amount through the mid-lengths and ends, keeping it away from the roots and bonds. Leave for one to two minutes, then rinse.

It softens the hair, helps prevent tangles, and leaves everything easier to comb through so your extensions blend beautifully with your own hair.

One last tip.

Always brush gently before and after washing, starting at the ends and working your way up. Combined with your two-step Absolute Repair routine, consistency is what really keeps your extensions looking full, soft, and healthy.

Little habits, big difference.

With love,

Sunshine season is here, and so is a question we hear on repeat in the salon: why do beautiful extensions suddenly turn brassy, dull, or discoloured after a few weeks in the sun? More often than not, the culprit isn't the sun itself. It's the sun cream.

Here's what's really happening, and how you and your clients can protect every strand.

Why sun cream reacts with hair extensions

Most SPF products contain UV-blocking chemicals that were formulated for skin, not hair. When they transfer onto extensions, they can cling to the cuticle and slowly change the tone of the hair. The usual suspects are:

Avobenzone and octocrylene: chemical UV filters that oxidise on the hair and pull blonde tones warm, often leaving pale extensions looking orange or yellow.

Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide: mineral filters that can leave a chalky, dulling film on darker tones, flattening shine and depth.

Blondes tend to feel it first, but every colour can lose its clarity when SPF is left to build up.

Simple ways to prevent it

A few small habits make a big difference:

Tie hair up before applying SPF. A loose bun or ponytail keeps lengths and ends out of the splash zone.

Apply sun cream to skin first, then wash your hands thoroughly. Residue on the palms is the quickest way to transfer product straight into the hair.

Avoid rubbing SPF near the hairline, nape, and shoulders where extensions naturally fall.

Rinse hair with fresh water after sun, sea, or pool exposure. A quick rinse lifts away chemicals, salt, and chlorine before they settle in.

Use a leave-in conditioner or UV protectant spray designed for extensions. A light barrier keeps the cuticle sealed and colour locked in.

Already noticing discolouration?

If the damage is done, there are still gentle ways back:

Start with a clarifying shampoo to lift any product build-up sitting on the hair.

Follow with a rich, hydrating mask to restore softness after cleansing.

For stubborn brassiness or dullness, book a professional colour correction or toning appointment. Extensions are delicate, so avoid at-home toners or box dyes.

When in doubt, chat with your stylist. They know the exact hair in the room and can

Have your clients ever come back a few weeks after a fresh set with beads that look faded, patchy or dull instead of that clean, uniform finish you left them with?

You are not doing anything wrong. In most cases, it comes down to how the bead is clamped, and there is a small trick that makes a real difference.

Here is what we know about bead colour, hard clamping, and how to protect your work.

Why hard clamping weakens bead colour

Beads are finished with a colour coating that helps them blend into your client's natural shade. That coating is thin by design, because the bead itself has to stay small and discreet against the scalp.

When metal pliers clamp directly onto the bead with a lot of force, the jaws of the tool press into the coated surface. Over the days and weeks that follow, that stress point can start to break down, flake, or wear thin, which is why a set can look great on day one and dulled a few weeks later.

The masking tape trick

The fix is refreshingly simple. Place a small piece of masking tape over the top of the metal clamper before you close the bead. That thin layer of tape sits between the pliers and the bead, softening the direct metal-on-metal contact while still letting you clamp firmly.

You get the same secure hold your clients rely on, without pressing bare steel into the colour coating. Real world result: beads that keep their finish for the full life of the set instead of breaking down within weeks.

Quick recap:

1. Tear off a small square of masking tape.
2. Wrap it around the flat inner surface of the clamping pliers.
3. Clamp the bead as firmly as you normally would.
4. Replace the tape as it wears.

Other things that can strip bead colour

Direct brushing of the beads, Chemical exposure and heat on the bead all have an impact.

Hope you're loving all these tips 💖

Have you ever noticed a faint greenish tint or dull residue near the beads of your nano ring extensions? You are not imagining it, and you are not alone.

Some clients notice this after months of washing in hard water, and while it can look alarming, it is usually explainable, and manageable with the right care.

Here is what we know about lime, hard water and how they can interact with beaded extensions.

What are beaded (nano ring) extensions?

Nano ring extensions are individual wefts of premium remy human hair attached to your natural hair using tiny metal micro-beads. The bead is clamped closed around a small section of your own hair and the extension strand, holding it securely in place without heat, glue or tape.

Because the beads sit close to the scalp and are made of metal, they can occasionally react with things that touch them repeatedly, including the water you wash your hair with.

How lime and hard water come into it

Hard water carries dissolved minerals like calcium and magnesium, often called lime or limescale. Over weeks and months of showering, these mineral deposits can build up on hair, skin and, importantly, on the metal beads holding your extensions in place.

When those minerals sit against the metal for long periods, they can slowly react with it. For some clients this may show up as a faint greenish tint or a chalky, dulled look on the beads and the hair immediately around them. It is a gradual process, and it varies a lot depending on your local water, the products you use and how often you wash.

Gentle steps that can help

Rinse with softer water when you can.💦  If your area is known for hard water, a shower filter or a final rinse with filtered or bottled water can reduce how much lime sits on your beads.

Use a clarifying or chelating shampoo occasionally. Every few weeks, a gentle clarifying or chelating shampoo can help lift mineral buildup from the hair and beads. Follow with a deep conditioning treatment to keep the extensions soft.

Avoid harsh mineral exposure. Where possible, protect your hair from prolonged contact with pool water, sea water and very heavily mineralised water.🏊
