Away with Nature

I made a skincare mistake today, and it gave me flashbacks to 2020 🫣

This morning I cleansed my face, applied a spritz of rosewater and while that was drying I got distracted. I headed to Cork without finishing my routine 🤪

After my meeting my skin felt a little dry and I had nothing in the car so I popped into a shop and applied a sample of a well known moisturiser (for sensitive skin) thinking my skin would be ok with it…. NOPE

It sat on the surface of my skin, tacky and heavy, refusing to absorb. By the time I got home my skin was red, irritated, and I felt like I was back in 2020 again when I looked in the mirror 🤡

When your skin barrier is compromised or in the middle of a hormonal shift, it cannot tolerate just anything. Unfamiliar ingredients might be perfectly fine for someone else but can disrupt your skin’s natural microbiome and compromise your skin barrier.

When you find products that your skin genuinely loves, that work with your barrier rather than against it, switching out of habit or convenience or following a ‘trend’ can set you back...
..this is why consistency is so important!!

The first thing I did when I got home was use my Kaolin Rose Cleanser (twice), and applied a dollop of my Calendula & Turmeric Mask = instant relief. My skin still looked a little red but it felt calm, and I know it will be back to normal tomorrow.

Listen to your skin, be consistent with your products and routine, and maybe pack some skincare for the car just in case 🙊
