A couple of weeks ago I had a strong feeling that I had to visit Inis Oírr and camp there solo.

It is actually hard to describe how I felt when I was there. I've been navigating some crazy change in life and this island and the humans I encountered while I was there was really just what I needed.

This place is something very very special.

Absolute shout out to Tomás Sharry & Máirtín Seoighe for the amazing experience learning about currachs and the traditions/history of Inis Oírr, and Máirtín for all the great chats.
Máirtín even lent mé an air mattress which him and his partner hand delivered to me from their attic after mine got a puncture. I couldn't write it lads!

I can't wait to visit this little nook of paradise again in the future, just what my heart needed.

Lughnasadh marks the first harvest, a sacred time of gratitude, abundance, and reflection. Named for the god Lugh, who established the festival in honour of his foster mother, Tailtiu, it reminds us of the gifts we cultivate and the sacrifices that make growth possible.

As we gather to celebrate, we honour the cycles of nature, give thanks for the harvest—both in the land and within ourselves—and reflect on the seeds we wish to carry into the coming season.

✨ A time to pause and also honour exactly where you are at right now in life

✨ A time to see how far you've come and acknowledge any seeds you may have planted earlier this year or last year

✨ A time to reflect on your harvest and be present with what is alive right now
