ב"ישראל היום", תומר דקל מצייר על גבי גיליונות של ״הארץ״ ו״ישראל היום״, והופך את החדשות למצע שעליו נבנים דימויים חדשים. שכבות הצבע מכסות, מוחקות ומפרשות מחדש את מה שנדמה היה שכבר נקבע, בעוד פלטות עץ שנאספו מהרחוב הופכות ליצורי פרא המאכלסים את חלל הגלריה.

התערוכה נעה בין אקטואליה לזיכרון, בין חומרי היומיום לדמיון, ומציעה מבט אחר על החיים כאן.

Tomer Dekel doesn't paint on a blank canvas. He starts exactly where most of us start the day - with the news.

In Israel Today, Dekel paints directly onto the pages of Haaretz and Israel Hayom, turning the news into the very surface on which new images emerge. Layers of paint cover, erase, and reinterpret what once seemed fixed, while wooden pallets collected from the street transform into wild creatures inhabiting the gallery space.
Moving between current events and memory, everyday materials and imagination, the exhibition offers a different way of looking at life here.

Visit us this weekend, where it's hot outside and pleasantly cool inside the gallery.

הקיץ, ואיתו הסלון שלנו, כבר ממש כאן, והפעם אנחנו מזמינות אתכם לדמיין איתנו את העתיד ~
במסגרת סלון קיץ נארח את "צילומי מסך עתידיים" - סדנת דמיון פוליטי עם מושון זר-אביב, בשיתוף תנועת ארץ לכולם.

בצאת תשעה באב, בין זיכרון של חורבן לבין החרדה מהבאות, ננסה לעשות דבר שנשמע כמעט מופרך בימים האלה: לדמיין עתיד אחר.
בסדנה ניצור יחד תמונות של עתידים שהיינו רוצות לחיות בהם, לצד כאלה שנעדיף לעצור עוד לפני שיקרו. נמקם אותם על קונוס העתידים - בין הוודאי לסביר, בין האפשרי למופרך - ואז נחזור אל ההווה וננסה להבין מה אפשר לעשות כבר עכשיו כדי להתקרב לשם, או לפחות לא להגיע לכאן שוב.

מושון זר-אביב הוא מעצב, אמן, חוקר דמיון פוליטי, מרצה בכיר בשנקר ופעיל בתנועת השלום הישראלית-פלסטינית ארץ לכולם - שתי מדינות, מולדת אחת.

As Tisha B’Av comes to an end, somewhere between the memory of destruction and anxiety about what may come next, we will attempt something that can feel almost absurd these days: imagining a different future.

During the workshop, we will create images of futures we would like to live in, alongside those we would prefer to stop before they happen. We will map them onto the Futures Cone - between the certain and the probable, the possible and the implausible - and then return to the present to consider what we can do right now to move closer to one future, or at least avoid ending up here again.

Mushon Zer-Aviv is a designer, artist, political imagination researcher, senior lecturer at Shenkar, and activist in the Israeli-Palestinian peace movement A Land for All - Two States, One Homeland.

מי הייתה תמר גולן, ואיך יכול להיות שאישה שהייתה קרובה כל כך למוקדי הכוח נשארה מחוץ לספרי ההיסטוריה?
יש מי שסיפרו שהייתה סוכנת מוסד, אחרים טענו שהייתה אהובתו של קולונל מצרי או של שליט אפריקאי. מה שידוע הוא שגולן פעלה מאחורי הקלעים של מדיניות החוץ הישראלית, ופיתחה לעצמה דיפלומטיה אחרת: פחות מסמכים רשמיים, יותר יחסים אישיים; פחות חדרי ישיבות, יותר מבט בעיניים, שיחה וסלון פוליטי ותרבותי בפריז.

היא הצליחה להגיע למקומות שבהם הערוצים הרשמיים נתקעו, יצרה קשרים בין ישראל לעולם הערבי והאפריקאי, והשפיעה על התהליכים שהובילו להסכם השלום עם מצרים. ובכל זאת, שמה כמעט לא נכנס לרשומות.

לאחר מותה, הבמאית עמנואל מאייר גילתה את הארכיון הפרטי שהשאירה אחריה: יומנים, הקלטות ותצלומים. יחד עם עדויות של חבריה, הארכיון פותח דלת אל חייה של אישה שלבשה לבן, משכה בחוטים מאחורי הקלעים, והשאיר אחריה הרבה שאלות ומעט מאוד תשובות רשמיות.

The Summer Salon event series will open with a screening of “The Woman in White,” winner of Docaviv 2026, followed by a conversation with director Emmanuelle Mayer.

Who was Tamar Golan, and how did a woman who came so close to the centers of power remain outside the history books?

Some claimed she was a Mossad agent. Others said she was the lover of an Egyptian colonel or an African ruler. What is known is that Golan operated behind the scenes of Israeli foreign policy and developed a different kind of diplomacy: fewer official documents, more personal relationships; fewer conference rooms, more eye contact, conversation, and a political and cultural salon in Paris.

She reached places where official channels had come to a standstill, built connections between Israel and the Arab and African worlds, and influenced the process that led to the peace agreement with Egypt. And yet, her name barely entered the official records.

After her death, director Emmanuelle Mayer discovered the private archive she had left behind: diaries, recordings, and photographs. Together with testimonies from her friends, the archive opens a door into the life of a woman who dressed in white, pulled strings behind the scenes, and left behind many questions and very few official answers.

בתערוכת היחיד "ישראל היום" מציג תומר דקל סדרת ציורים, שצוירה על גבי גיליונות של עיתוני "הארץ" ו"ישראל היום". מילה, תמונה או רעיון הנמצאים על גבי דף העיתון, גדלים ומשתלטים על הכפולה, והופכים לציור עז, שמסתיר ומוחק את רוב מה שהיה שם לפניו. חלק מהציורים ניצבים על פלטות עץ, שמשמשות ברגיל לשינוע סחורות, והופכות תחת ידיו של דקל למעין יצורי פרא – ספק פסלים פגאניים, ספק מתלים לעבודות.

In his solo exhibition "Israel Hayom," Tomer Dekel presents a striking series of paintings created directly on Haaretz and Israel Hayom newsprint.

A single word, image, or idea embedded in these dailies expands to take over the entire spread—metamorphosing into a vivid painting that obscures and erases most of what was there before.

Alongside the newspaper works, some paintings are installed on wooden shipping pallets. Ordinarily used to transport goods, these pallets are transformed by Dekel into wild creatures—part pagan statues, part structural supports.

במהלך ארבעה ימים, אלפי מבקרים שוטטו בין השולחנות, מאות ספרי אמן מצאו בית חדש, ועשרות השקות, שיחות, סדנאות, מופעים ומפגשים בלתי צפויים מילאו את הבניין שלנו.

And just like that, the 7th Artport Artist Book Fair has come to an end 📚✨

Over four days, thousands of visitors wandered between the tables, hundreds of artist books found new homes, and dozens of launches, talks, workshops, performances, and chance encounters filled our building.

Thank you to the artists, publishers, writers, designers, poets, performers, workshop leaders, volunteers, partners, and visitors who made this fair what it was 🫶🏼

Artist books are often created slowly, quietly, and far from the spotlight. The fair is a rare opportunity to bring all of these voices together in one place, and every year we’re reminded how vibrant, generous, and growing this community is.

Thank you for reading, browsing, collecting, supporting artists, and helping make each fair better than the last.
