Being surrounded by thousands of young people demanding accountability was both inspiring and deeply deeply concerning—because despite their numbers and energy, their cries still seem to fall on deaf ears.
As a mother of children with special needs, this reality hits differently.
It left me asking a frightening question: If thousands of vocal, determined young minds cannot get the government to listen, what hope is there for children with special needs who cannot speak up for themselves?
Advocacy isn't just about demanding change for those who can shout the loudest; it’s about making sure the system remembers those who cannot speak at all. Special needs children and their families are too often forgotten in public policy and governance.
We cannot build a fair future if we ignore both the leaders of tomorrow and the most vulnerable children of today. On behalf of every special needs family: we need a government that listens, acts, and includes everyone.
