East African shea butter (Vitellaria nilotica) is produced in Northern Uganda. Our East African shea butter (Vitellaria nilotica) is 100% natural and certified NOP organic. It is produced in a manner that uses newly developed technology to carefully process the butter without the use of chemicals. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN EAST & WEST AFRICA SHEA BUTTERS? At room temperature Eastern African shea butter is semi-solid and is softer than West African shea butter. It is creamier and silky, making it quick and easy to apply. Eastern African shea butter is also slightly in higher therapeutic properties. Eastern shea butter has a sweeter scent than West African shea butter. Eastern African shea butter is rarer because of lower shea production and also because of civil unrest in Uganda and Sudan. Important Notes:
Because East African shea butter is a soft butter, it is more sensitive to temperature changes during transit. East African Shea butter may melt at temperatures as low as 65 degrees F. If you receive the product in a liquid or semi-liquid form you may harden the product by placing it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
