I have a confession – I smoke sometimes.

I don’t know why, I don’t think it’s a good thing, and I don’t recommend it.
Maybe I do it to feel less lonely around people who smoke. Maybe I do it to fit in. Maybe I do it because it reminds me to breathe- maybe that’s just a lie I tell myself so I don’t have to stop smoking when I’ve never really been a smoker.
But what I do sometimes, instead of smoke is blow bubbles or have a mint or just remind myself to actually take a breath- a deep breath (short inhale longer exhale) and then I realise that I don’t really need to smoke that I’ve made up this excuse that smoking helps. Maybe I don’t need to smoke after all. Maybe all I need is a little whimsy and ways to slow down time when things get too loud.
