Kusumkunja

আজিকে মোদের কুসুমকুঞ্জ মাঝে,
রবির শুভ্র করুণা কিরণে
তরু-কলিকারা সাজে।।

সন্ধ্যাবেলায় দীপের আলোকে,
নিকোন উঠোন উঠিবে ঝলকে।

কুসুমিত কিশলয় সকলি
গাহিবে সুরের পুলকে।
মঞ্জরিদল সুধা-সুগন্ধে
ভরিবে ভূলোক পলকে।

অভিসারে যাবে বাসবদত্তা
বইবে সুরের সুরধূনী।
সেই আঁধারেই দেখতে পাবে বীরপুরুষের কাহিনী।

শূণ্য আসন একটু পরেই পূর্ণ হয়ে যাবে
কতজনের স্বপ্ন কত ভালবাসা পাবে।

আনন্দকে ভাগ করলে
আনন্দ যে বাড়ে
রবিঠাকুর আশিস দিয়ে
সফল কোর সবারে।

Next Sunday, on the auspicious occasion of its 10th annual function, like in all the previous years, Kusumkunja is publishing a fully coloured book specifically designed for children this year.

Inspired by the "Wedding of Fishes" song (with the lyrics "Dariya macher biye korate...") written in the Bengali folk painting-music tradition of "jorano pot" (wrapped scroll painting), the story of the book has been penned by the imaginative mind of Smt. Dr. Swati Biswas, a resident of the USA.
Each page of the book is decorated with colourful paintings and a few written narratives. All the paintings are done by Dr. Avijit Majumder.

The medium of this book has been English in order to make sure this indigenous effort reaches out to a more global section of children. This four month long water colour based project has been meticulously realised with the sole purpose of causing some delight to its young readers."

Anyone interested to collect a copy of the book for oneself or for presenting to someone might let us know. Anyone attending the annual function can procure the book from Sarat Sadan auditorium.

Author says,
"Culture travels through stories. In my childhood I heard stories from my parents and grandparents. I loved story books. Even in this digital age, holding a colorful book still lifts up my mood. I believe it will do the same to you and your child.
As part of my art advocacy work with several artists across India, I came across many local stories with deep underlying values that we all can learn from. The book “Luna Weds Finn” is inspired by one such story “wedding of the fishes”, a popular theme from Midnapur patachitra. I hope this story crosses local boundaries and travels to different corners of the globe."

বাসবদত্তা

বোধিসত্বাবদানকল্পলতা অবলম্বন করে রচিত অভিসার কবিতা অবলম্বনে আগামী ৯ই আগস্ট রবিবার, বেহালা শরৎসদনে আমাদের নিবেদন "বাসবদত্তা।"

নগরের নটীর রূপসৌন্দর্য্যে মথুরানগরবাসীরা মুগ্ধ কিন্তু বৌদ্ধ শ্রমণ উপগুপ্ত তাকে সহজেই প্রত্যাখ্যান করেন এবং কথা দেন যখন সময় আসবে, ঠিক তিনি বাসবদত্তার কাছে আসবেন। বর্ষা যায়, বসন্তের হাওয়া বইতে থাকে। গুটি বসন্তে আক্রান্ত হন বাসবদত্তা। একদিন যে নগরবাসী তাঁকে পরম আদরে বরণ করেছিল, আজ রোগসংক্রমণের ভয়ে তাঁকে তারা পরিত্যাগ করে। বাসবদত্তা পরিখার পারে অন্ধকারে কাঁদতে থাকে। ভিক্ষুক উপগুপ্ত বাসবদত্তার শুশ্রুষা করেন। কোলে তুলে শ্বেতচন্দন মাখিয়ে তাকে অপমানের অন্ধকার থেকে সেবার আলোতে ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে আসে।
