Unpopular opinion: being put on the birth control pill for PCOS isn’t treatment. It’s a pause button. ⏸️

The bleed you get on the birth control pill is a withdrawal bleed, not a real period. It doesn’t mean you’re ovulating. And it doesn’t touch the insulin resistance, androgens or inflammation underneath.

That’s why so many women stop the pill and find their PCOS right where they left it, sometimes with a longer wait for their cycle to return.

Ask your doctor:
1️⃣ What exactly is this treating?
2️⃣ Which labs were done to confirm my PCOS?
3️⃣ What’s the plan for the root cause?

Do not stop any medication on your own. Talk to your doctor first.

💬 Were you told about this before starting the pill? Tell me below 👇

4 women. 4 different symptoms. The same prescription. 💊

Weight gain. Acne. Facial hair. Hair fall. Mood swings. Spotting.

As a dietitian who works with hormones and gut health, here’s what most women are never told:

→ A pill can manage symptoms. It doesn’t find what’s driving them.
→ The bleed you get on the pill is a withdrawal bleed, not a true period.
→ PCOS is a diagnosis of exclusion. Thyroid and prolactin issues need to be ruled out first.
→ Same symptom, different root cause: insulin resistance, high androgens, low iron or zinc, low progesterone, low vitamin D or B12, thyroid.

So the real question isn’t “which pill?” It’s “why is this happening to me?”

Comment “PCOS” and I’ll send you my roadmap to heal and manage PCOS. 🤍

And tell me below: which symptom were YOU given a pill for? 👇

Your pill replaces the hormone. It doesn’t repair what’s behind the low thyroid.

If you’re on levothyroxine and still battling hair fall, stubborn weight and mood swings, the root cause deserves attention. Medication + diet + lifestyle, together. 🌿

Comment THYROID for our roadmap.
