India has dispatched its first duty-free gold jewellery consignment from Kolkata to Oman under the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), marking the beginning of a new chapter for the country's gems and jewellery exports.

By eliminating the 5% import duty, the agreement makes Indian jewellery more competitive in the Omani market while creating a direct export route that reduces costs and improves delivery timelines. The industry expects exports to Oman to grow from USD 35 million today to nearly USD 150 million over the next three years, with the potential to strengthen India's presence across the wider Gulf region.

As global trade corridors evolve, agreements like CEPA are creating new opportunities for manufacturers, exporters and buyers alike.
