From a small set-up at home in the suburbs to being the Head of Hair for VLCC, Rukmini Honawar, a name to reckon with in the Indian salon industry, has been there and done it all. She has been in this industry for the last 26 years and witnessed its development into a lucrative and viable career option for the youth of today. Honawar, a legendary name in the Hair & Beauty industry, and founder of Runah Salon. She is known for her extraordinary skills and techniques, both traditional and modern. She took up styling as a career option in 1980, gradually joined Morris Master Class, Singapore. This was her first step into the international hair industry in 1990. Honawar had tied up with Cheryl’s Cosmetics in the 90’s and since then has worked closely with their core team. She has completed courses in hair from Vidal Sassoon, Saks International, Tony&Guy, Guy Kremer, Patrick Cameron and other international trainers. Her selection as L’Oréal Professionnel’s Creative Hairdresser Forum member and the recognition of Runah Salon as a Prestige Salon was an honour that boosted her desire to bring the very best to her growing clientele. With increasing knowledge also came the desire to share it with beginners and fellow professionals. Rukmini has not only offered her services as a grooming instructor at Damania airlines, Alliance Air and at the Air Hostess Academy, she has also been drawn to assisting new learning. Her concept of Runah Academy, along with Runah Salon, has proved to be a powerful combination. Imparting her holistic, client-centered and a very contemporary approach to hair and beauty has been a wonderfully enriching experience, both for her students and for herself. Her endless patience and thorough information has drawn over 500 professionals from all over India to her classes.
