IVF & Islam: What does Islam say?
Infertility is a growing concern, affecting millions of couples worldwide. IVF has given many couples a medically established pathway to parenthood when natural conception is not possible.
But is IVF permissible in Islam?
In this video, our Consultant Gynaecologist & Fertility Expert, Dr. Syed Uzma, discusses the Islamic perspective on IVF, including the position of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and the conditions under which assisted reproduction is permissible.
This conversation is not about promoting IVF. It is about awareness, understanding infertility, knowing that treatment options exist, and making informed decisions.
At the same time, fertility deserves attention before treatment is needed: timely marriage, good reproductive health, a healthy lifestyle and seeking medical advice when there are concerns can all play an important role.
Fertility is a blessing. Awareness, prevention and timely care matter.
PS: For individual medical or religious guidance, consult your qualified healthcare professional and a trusted Islamic scholar.

“You have a healthy baby. What more could you be sad about?” Sadly, many new mothers still hear words like these.
Postpartum depression is real. And struggling after childbirth does not mean a mother is ungrateful, a bad mother, or lacking in faith. A woman can love her baby deeply and still feel exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious or emotionally lost.
In our communities, we need to stop dismissing these feelings as “just mood swings” or telling mothers to simply “be strong.” Sometimes, what a new mother needs is not judgment, but understanding, support and the right care.
Even within our faith, emotional suffering is not something to be ashamed of. Islamic scholars have addressed postpartum depression as a condition for which women may need medical treatment alongside spiritual support.
Let’s talk about postpartum mental health with the same compassion with which we talk about the physical recovery after childbirth.
Your phone may be small, but the strain it puts on your neck isn’t. Every time you bend your neck forward to look at your screen, the load on your cervical spine increases significantly.
At neutral (0°), your head places around 5 kg of load on the neck. Bend it forward to 30°, and that load can rise to around 18 kg; at 60°, it can reach nearly 27 kg. That’s why prolonged phone use with your head bent forward can put significant strain on your neck.
Prolonged poor posture can lead to neck and shoulder pain, headaches, stiffness and, over time, contribute to degenerative changes such as cervical spondylosis.

Is infertility a female-only problem?
It’s a question we often hear, but the reality is that infertility can affect both men and women. Yet, the conversation and the blame often fall disproportionately on women.
In this video, Dr. Uzma, our Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, with a special focus on IVF and fertility care, addresses this important misconception and explains why infertility should be approached as a couple’s health concern, not a woman’s problem alone.
With infertility cases increasing, it’s time to have more open, informed and stigma-free conversations around fertility.
Watch, understand and share. Because fertility concerns deserve understanding, not blame.
When someone with 30+ years of clinical experience speaks, it’s worth listening.
In this important conversation, our Consultant Diabetologist & Metabolic Health, Dr. Mehmood, takes us beyond the skin to explore something that affects the whole body: gut health!
What exactly is the gut? Why does gut health matter? What damages it? And, most importantly, what can we do to support it?
The gut is often called the body’s “second brain” because of the remarkable enteric nervous system and its two-way communication with the brain.
And the conversation goes even further, into the growing science around the gut microbiome, metabolism and diabetes. Research increasingly shows important links between gut microbiota, glucose regulation, insulin sensitivity and metabolic health, although this is an evolving field of research.
A perspective worth hearing. Watch till the end. Your gut may deserve more attention than you think.

At My True Care, we are proud to have Dr. Munaza Shora, Consultant Gynaecologist, as part of our journey in bringing compassionate, patient-centred care to women in Kashmir. đź’ś
When a patient tells you that they felt reassured, cared for and safe through one of the most important journeys of their life, it brings a special kind of satisfaction, the happiness of knowing you were able to make someone else feel better.
For Dr. Munaza, that is what good gynaecological care is about: going beyond the routine, being present when patients need you, and making them feel heard, comfortable and cared for.
What you see here is exactly what she WhatsApped us, word for word. We’ve shared only a part of the conversation, but the words and emotions are entirely hers.
