Food, fashion & design: with Mapping Basilicata, the best of Lucanian products are promoted world-wide while recounting the identity, history and culture of an ancient land suspended between its traditional past and innovative present. Lingerie, embroidery, delicate lace: these all make up the Lucanian corsetry sector, which hand-crafts elegant intimate-wear and linen with arisan expertise, using
only the highest quality fabrics and maximum attention to detail. Each work passes through the capable hands of women who, with years of experience, are able to unite functionality and design giving form to unique collections. Fresh whole produce, pasta and bread, extra virgin olive oil and DOCG wines: these are the Lucanian gastronomic pillars upon which the Mediterranean diet, the elixir for a long life, were founded. These are the main agricultural and gastronomic products of the region and all help to strengthen the great heritage of Italian food culture throughout the world. Design, couture and great comfort: the long-standing upholstered furniture industry began “invading” houses all over the world with its sofas and armchairs. From Matera to Singapore, passing through Tel Aviv and San Francisco, the Lucanian sofa industry stands out for its quality and innovation, from its model design to the materials used, as well as its craftsmanship upholding the highest quality and technical standards
Mapping Basilicata is a collection of about one hundred Lucanian companies, that have been united into business networks. These companies all belong to the most important industry sectors in the region which are distinguished for their artisan vocation and quality, as well as for their attention to evolving markets and the needs of clients. Mapping Basilicata helps these companies to grow internationally and expand into foreign markets abroad. Mapping Basilicata has been funded by national resources (Mise) as well as European (Fesr) for the “Growth potential of internationalization of PMI” and has been carried out by Sviluppo Basilicata SPA , in close collaboration with the Distretto del Mobile imbottito di Matera, the Distretto Rurale delle Colline e della Montagna Materana, the Distretto Pollino Lagonegrese, the Distretto Agroalimentare del Vulture and the Distretto della Corsetteria, together with Unioncamere Basilicata. The goal is to strengthen the presence of Lucanian businesses on national and international markets. Through Mapping Basilicata, three new identifying brands for industry quality have been born: CASAMATERA, BASILICATA FINE FOOD and B-WEAR.
