信州の中信地方には、道祖神が多く残っています。

村の守り神として、道の辻や三叉路に立ち、五穀豊穣・無病息災・子孫繁栄を願う、もっとも身近な神として親しまれてきました。

親しげに握手をする男女の像、酒器を持つ像、彩色が施された像、文字だけのものなど、姿はさまざまです。

Satoyama villa DENの近くには、田畑の中に立派に建てられたものがあります。大きなほうは比較的最近つくられたもののようで、小さくたたずむ道祖神が隣にいるのも趣深いですね。

松本へお越しの際は、街や里山の道端で、個性豊かな道祖神をぜひ探してみてください。

In the Chushin region of Nagano, many Dosojin—traditional roadside deities—can still be found.

They stand at village crossroads, where people have long prayed for good harvests, health, and prosperity. Their forms vary, from friendly couples holding hands to simple stone carvings with inscriptions.

Near Satoyama villa DEN, a large and small dosojin stand together amid the farmland. When you visit Matsumoto, look along the roadsides — you may just find one.

春の雨が続いた今週。二十四節気では、ちょうど穀雨の季節です。

少し前、DENのオーガニックファームでは、じゃがいもの植え付けを行いました。

品種はキタアカリ。黄色い肉色と強い甘み、ホクホクとした食感が特徴で、「栗じゃが」とも呼ばれるおいしいじゃがいもです。２畝に約50株を植えました。

この時期に降る「百穀を潤す恵みの雨」を受けて、元気に育ってくれますように。収穫は、7月頃からの予定です。

じゃがいもは、掘り立てを蒸して食べるのが農園スタッフのおすすめ。

ご滞在の際は、ぜひご自身で掘って、味わってみてくださいね。

Spring rains continue in this week, as we enter Kokuu—the season of “Grain Rain.”

Recently, we planted Kitakari potatoes at DEN’s organic farm. Known for their golden flesh, sweetness, and fluffy texture, we planted about 50 plants across two rows.

Nourished by the seasonal rains, they are expected to be ready for harvest around July.

Our staff recommend enjoying them simply steamed, just after digging them up.

During your stay, we invite you to harvest and taste them yourself.

4月に入ってから、一気に春がやってきたようですね。
DENの敷地内の花々も、例年より少し早く咲き始めました。

ほんのり甘い香りを漂わせるユキヤナギには虫たちが集まり、足元には葡萄の房のような青紫の小花が愛らしいムスカリが目を惹きます。
普段であれば4月下旬ごろから見頃を迎えるシャクナゲも、すでに花を開き始めました。

田んぼの土手など、至る所に咲くたんぽぽやオオイヌノフグリ、ヒメオドリコソウが織りなす賑やかな景色も、里山の春らしさを感じさせてくれます。

気候の良いこの季節は、少し早めに街を後にして、あたたかな春の陽だまりのなか、里山を散歩するのもおすすめです。

Since the beginning of April, it feels as though spring has arrived all at once.

Flowers around DEN have started to bloom a little earlier than usual — from the sweetly scented spirea and charming grape hyacinths to the rhododendrons already beginning to open.

The lively spring scenery of dandelions, speedwell, and purple dead-nettle blooming along the rice field paths is also one of the beautiful signs of satoyama spring.

This is the perfect season to leave the city behind a little early and enjoy a peaceful walk through the countryside in the warm spring sunlight.
