Some days, there’s no work.
No housework that urgently needs to be done.
And yet,
you don’t feel like doing anything.
Your body feels heavy, and all you want to do is stay on the couch.
Have you ever had a day like that?
When stress and tension continue for a long time,
our bodies keep using energy to cope with them.
The autonomic nervous system is involved not only in activity,
but also in rest, recovery, sleep, and digestion.
That’s why sometimes, after pushing through busy or stressful days,
fatigue seems to catch up with us only when we finally have nothing planned.
“I have time, so I should be doing something.”
“I’m wasting my day off.”
When thoughts like these take over,
your body may be resting, but your mind is still working.
Rest doesn’t always need to have a purpose.
Doing nothing for a while.
Sleeping.
Having something warm to drink.
Putting your phone away and spending some time in quiet.
These moments of “doing nothing” can also be part of what allows the mind and body to recover and move forward again.
At The Inner Sanctuary Yokosuka,
our intention goes beyond simply easing muscular tension.
The lighting, aroma, temperature, touch, and quietness of the space are all part of the experience.
A place where you don’t have to do anything.
A place to gently bring your attention back from the outside world to your own body.
We hope to be a place you can come to not only when you’re completely exhausted,
but before you reach that point.
If today is one of those days when you don’t feel like doing anything,
it may simply be your body asking for rest.
You don’t have to force yourself to feel energetic.
When you have the opportunity to rest,
allow yourself to truly rest.
Rest is productive.
Your body knows.

The Inner Sanctuary Yokosuka
Rest is productive.
Your body knows.

“I closed my eyes, but they still feel heavy.”
Is the fatigue really coming from your eyes alone?
After spending hours on your phone or computer, you may notice tired or dry eyes, heaviness behind the eyes, blurred vision, or even a heavy feeling in your head.
Often, more than one factor is involved.
When we concentrate on a screen, we tend to blink less frequently.
This can cause tears to evaporate more quickly, contributing to dryness, irritation, and eye discomfort.
Another important factor is posture.
Think about how you hold your head while looking at your phone.
When the head stays forward for long periods, the muscles around the neck, shoulders, and base of the skull have to keep working to support it.
That’s why eye fatigue can sometimes appear alongside:
• heaviness behind the eyes
• tension at the base of the skull
• tight shoulders
• a heavy or tired feeling in the head
And sleep matters too.
Exposure to bright light and screens at night can affect your body clock and melatonin production, depending on the timing and intensity of the light.
When you’re not getting enough restorative sleep, fatigue can also be more noticeable the following day.
So when your eyes feel tired,
resting your eyes alone may not always be enough.
Step away from the screen.
Blink intentionally.
Spend a little time looking into the distance.
Give your neck and shoulders a break from the same position.
And allow yourself enough time to truly rest.
And when your neck, shoulders, and head still feel tense, letting someone else take care of your body can be another way to rest.
At The Inner Sanctuary Yokosuka, we don’t treat eye conditions. Instead, we gently work with areas that often hold everyday tension — including the neck, shoulders, décolletage, and head — creating space for your body to slow down and unwind.
Close your eyes.
Put the phone away.
And give yourself a little time where you don’t have to do anything.
Clear eyes. A lighter you.
The Inner Sanctuary Yokosuka

Have you ever had a dream that felt so real
that the emotions stayed with you even after you woke up?
Fear. Sadness. Anxiety.
You know it was only a dream, yet somehow your body still feels exhausted.
“I slept, so why do I feel more tired than before?”
Vivid dreams are most commonly associated with REM sleep.
During this stage, your body is resting, but your brain is far from completely inactive.
Areas of the brain involved in emotion remain active, while the brain also processes memories and emotional experiences.
That’s one reason dreams can sometimes feel as though they actually happened.
But there’s something important to remember:
Dreaming and remembering your dreams are not the same thing.
When you wake frequently during the night or early morning, you’re more likely to wake during or shortly after a dream — making it easier to remember.
This can leave you feeling as though
“I was dreaming all night”
or
“My brain never rested.”
But having vivid dreams doesn’t necessarily mean your brain wasn’t resting.
When you wake up feeling exhausted, it can be more helpful to look at the quality of your sleep as a whole:
Was your sleep repeatedly interrupted?
Was your sleep fragmented throughout the night?
Have stress or tension been keeping your mind and body on alert?
And on mornings when you wake up tired,
you don’t have to blame yourself for “not sleeping well enough.”
After a mentally busy night,
allow yourself to begin the day a little more gently.
Let in some morning light.
Slow down your breathing.
Give your body time to release some of its tension.
Sleep isn’t the only form of rest.
Having a place where you feel safe enough to do nothing.
A moment when you don’t have to take care of anyone else.
A space where your body can finally soften and let go.
That, too, is a form of rest
your mind and body may need.
A calmer mind.
A brighter tomorrow.

A calmer mind.
A brighter tomorrow.

Extensor Digitorum
That tension in your forearm may not be caused by overusing your hands alone.
The extensor digitorum is a muscle that runs from the outer elbow toward the fingers. It helps straighten your fingers and stabilize your wrist.
🔹 Why does it become tight?
• Repetitive finger movements from using smartphones and computers
• Frequent gripping and grasping
• Muscle fatigue from prolonged activities
• Continuous strain from stabilizing the wrist
🔹 The Often-Overlooked Connection to Your Neck
The extensor digitorum is controlled by nerves that originate in the neck.
When these nerves become compressed or irritated, symptoms such as forearm pain, finger numbness, and muscle weakness may occur.
This means that discomfort in your forearm doesn't always originate in the forearm muscles themselves.
🌿 Where you feel pain isn't always where the problem begins.
Understanding the connection between your neck, shoulders, and arms is an important part of addressing discomfort and caring for your body as a whole.

Resting is not running away.
When we’re tired, we often tell ourselves,
“I need to keep going.”
“I can’t stop now.”
But rest is not simply a time when we are doing nothing.
Sleep and adequate rest support the body’s natural recovery processes, as well as emotional regulation, memory, immune function, hormonal balance, and the autonomic nervous system.
And when the body remains tense for too long,
it can affect more than just our muscles.
Even our breathing may become shallow.
That is why sometimes, we need to intentionally create space to let go.
Feel warmth.
Breathe slowly.
Let your body be supported.
Allow yourself to receive care without having to do anything at all.
These small moments of rest can gradually help the mind and body release what they have been holding.
Those who spend so much of their time caring for others can easily put their own need for rest aside.
Some days, it’s okay not to push yourself.
It’s okay not to accomplish anything.
Resting does not mean giving up on moving forward.
It is part of what allows you to move forward again — as yourself.

A healthier you, a brighter tomorrow.
